I have sadly concluded that there is only one song that I know by heart.  I mean, I know lots of songs but I can only sing a line here and there.  Usually when I'm driving, I'll hum along or sing about a half second behind.  Then when I get to the part that I know, I'll belt out a couple of lines.  This will startle my bf and he'll frantically try to start a conversation so I don't sing.  Oh yeah, did I mention I can't carry a tune as well?

As if that wasn't bad enough, I don't remember the artist and the the title.  So when someone ask me if I've heard the latest by (insert your favorite singer here), I'll just sit there with a blank stare.  Songs just come into my brain like a summer breeze and leave just as quickly.  The only thing I usually remember is the melody.  I could go into HMV, look at the top 40 hits and maybe recognize just a handful.

Oh - in case you're wondering which song I know by heart - I'm sure you know this one.  It goes like this..

Aye Bee See Dee Eeeee  Efff Geee....

  • You are not alone, I barely know any songs since i finish my high school. And I barely remember name of songs or who sings it. Maybe I will remember a handful of my fav singers and the title but not more than that.

  • Everyone can sing - it is that others do not appreciate our voices. OH, I remember that song - at least most of it!

  • hahahaha  it's ok, i don't know any song titles/artists either.  it probably drives my bf crazy because he's something of a music trivia genius -- he can usually tell you not only what the song is, but often times who produced it and who wrote it as well.  and along i come, able to sing along to a fair bit of the lyrics from a song but having no idea what the song is hahaha.

i'm sure you know more than that song by heart...  you probably just don't realize it.

  • me too...I always don't remember who is the singer and the title, but I more like the lyric of the song more than just the melody. I always find how amazing that people write lyric with a limited words and have to match the melody.....

  • oh, com'on, everyone knows that tune ... I didn't know Dancing Queen by ABBA was your favourite song Matt!

  • RYC: I don't think that is an original phrase with me. I seem to remember it from somewhere maybe even a prof in class.

  • Come on, get yourself a Christmas Tree is cheap and is so beautifull. I like to look at it .

  • lol! i was really reading fast with this entry to get to the bottom and find out the song.

ryc: some of these artists might have gone to xavier's or have taught there. most of them are now ateneo based.

if you know the song panalangin sa pagiging bukaspalad, anima christi or tanging yaman, then that's it. yeah. mass songs.

just wait coz' i'll be uploading the better versions :P

  • and by the way, i don't believe of anyone not knowing how to sing. breathing, pronunciation and good listening is all it takes to sing. of course, you can't attain that overnight, that's why there's a word called "practice".

  • There's a show now on tv where the contestants have to sing the missing lyrics! It was quite entertaining!!

  • ROTFLMAO!!  Yes my favourite son used to be the abc song   I can relate to the song issue....I like the way you state it.... hope all is well with you! TY for the comment    'Til The Next

  • RYC: Glad I caught you off guard!!

  • RYC: I am not the only one in office, just people are too lazy to work...

  • i can't sing either. i actually like bad singing. it's all about having fun singing! if you sung i'd probably would have joined you!

ryc: for the merry go round, is it the spinning that gets to you? i'm ok with spinning in some contexts. i think i'd be ok with merry go round.. and i tried this one that spins on the ground, like a train track with small up and down slopes, goes backwards and forwards on the ground. it was very exciting, without the threatening feeling, like all those roller coasters.

  • Bah-hahahaha...oh Matt...we still love you!

  • hmm
    ayy bee? o_O
OMG! twinkle twinkle little star! :D

haha anyways, I get that a lot too
    i hear something
    i like it a lot
but i dont know the lyrics
    so i just hum
and the lines i know [or think i know]
    i almost scream/sing them
    ...but i always screw up
and remember wrong words or something
and then laugh at myself :D

  • TY for the comments!!    'Til The Next

  • Welcome to my world Matt ! My grandchildren try to teach me the lyrics to some of their songs, and then say, " Ok, lets go play something else."
