  • The snowstorm last
week that had the weather forecasters in a frenzy wasn’t as bad as I
thought.  I worked from home on Friday
and didn't have to worry about driving.  Although I have to admit I wasn’t that productive.  It was a bit tricky walking around though when I went out in the evening.  The sidewalks weren’t cleared yet and it felt
as if I was walking in sand.  It was icy in several spots too.  But thankfully I got through it without
landing on my bottom.  My bf had to
shovel his driveway couple of times.

    When
I met up with him on the weekend, his back was still aching so I gave him a massage
to ease the pain.  I finished off by
massaging the scalp and forehead area.  I
think if I ever lose my job, I should get one as a masseuse.  It’s interesting feeling the muscles and
trying to figure out where the aches are and using just enough pressure to ease
the tension w/o making it too uncomfortable or painful.
    Any potential customers out there?

    We didn’t
actually do much on the weekend. Both of us had a long week so we just took it
easy.  We had a late lunch at a pho place,
did a bit of groceries and grabbed a late dinner at an all you can eat sushi
place.  It was actually quite good.  All in all, a very relaxing weekend.

    Some pics that
I took on the weekend.  I wanted to take a close up shots of the kids playing but didn't feel comfortable.  The parents kept staring at me when I was taking pictures even from this distance.

    Patterns...

    Some food shots:
I made some soup for dinner my dad and sis.  The stock is from pork bones, pork shank, some dried scallops, dried mushroom stems (perfect for soups), ginger (not pictured here), some large bean sprouts (I'm actually not sure what they are really called.  But I use it to help "sweeten" the stock a bit.)  and a couple of melons (the ones with the fuzzy skin).  I usually make the soup at my place and reheat it at my dad's place.  I also added some tofu and a bit more ginger at my dad's place.  For dinner, I made some beef chow mein.  (the pic is a bit over exposed).

I "heart" all kinds of Chinese soup!!

  • Pho is always great on a cold day!  I'm glad I wasn't in town for the snowstorm though!

  • Because scruffy food has better ingredients than outside food!

  • we didn't get snow last weekend, but we got a ton of rain on friday (that i had to drive in!  not fun!).  i wish i had a weekend to relax, but there's so much going on at work right now i feel like i'm running around all the time.

  • ryc: Peer pressure =[. Even though I want to blame my friend for
stupidly making it 2 o'clock when he well knew that I had chinese
school and would have to make me choose between having fun and doing
chinese...I guess x_x that theresres a lesson learned somewhere in
    here...
...something about how bad stuff happen to good people
    haha
    but yeah
    anyways :]
    know any good movies?

  • I wanna be your first customer haha! ^^

ryc: Bi's manager sleeps in the upper bunk

  • i wish i could "work from home" too. i mean, not really all the time but on extreme events that would prevent me from coming to work like if i'm sick or something. coping up after is worse, that's why.

wow, the "patterns" pic looks great. just a question, where have all the animals gone? migrated?

  • the snow pics looks really nice. i really need to go to toronto one of these days during winter time .
pho is always good when it's cold outside. now you made me want to go get some...

  • Oh, I love your icon pic~so I stopped by!!! Exquiiste Snow Pictures...truly a work of art...you captured!!!

  • I love that 2nd picture. It's natures way of saying that if it must be this cold it might as well at least look pretty. Shame it doesn't apply to London...

  • I want to try your massage too....should very relaxing and good....
how much things you know too...you seem know alot of stuffs...cooking, massage, good in English, you seem know everything...so jealous

  • @Island_Concierge - thank you for stopping by.  I'm glad you liked the pics.

  • @whonose - maybe next time, I'll take the pictures of the slush and the puddles on the road.  I'm sure London looks incredible when blanketed with snow.

  • @Renatojr3 - most of the birds have gone south for the winter. But you'll still see lots of ducks and geese by the lake.  The squirrels and other rodents should be hibernating.

  • @ElusiveWords - for some reason, i find this feature (reply to a post) a trouble. hehehe.. i mean, i only get an email but never a message back to my xanga. but xanga's doing updates again.

  • fooooood :)

  • great pics.  i miss snow ;(  ...and those large sprouts are soy bean sprouts, widely used in korean cooking.  delish!!  the regular skinny ones we often see in chinese cooking or regular supermarkets are mung bean sprouts.

  • @rudyhou -

ah yes, that's it - I knew someone out there would know.
