  • Are you creative?

An odd thing happened to me yesterday.  My alarm buzzed and I rolled over and went back to sleep.  The next thing I knew, I heard a female voice
calling out “Matt”.  I didn’t recognize
the voice but it was loud and clear.  It
appeared to have emanated near the foot of my bed.  I was startled awake and immediately looked
around.  There wasn’t anyone.  It was so strange.  I did get to work on time otherwise I would have
    missed my first meeting.

I thought of my mom who used to wake me up when I lived at home.  I was such a light sleeper.  I could hear the door opening when it scraped against the carpet.  That was enough to wake me up.  It wasn't her voice that I heard though.  Strange...

The recent snow storm motivated me to take some more photographs.  I went out but for some reason I just couldn't find anything that inspired me.  I'm still getting used to my new camera and need to check the manual still for a lot of things.  I lamented my lack of creativity and on my way home, something drew me to the bookstore.  Towards the back, I found a book by Twyla Tharp "The Creative Habit:  Learn It and Use It for Life".  Well, I just had to have it so I got it.  I hope it doesn't join the other pile of self help books that I have purchased.

So many of you out there are so creative - what do you do to develop and hone this skill?

My sister gave me the salmon and some spices.  I just stuck it into the oven and also heated up some roasted garlic that she gave me.  The string beans were simply blanched. A quick simple meal in less than 40 mins.  Yeah, it would be healthier with brown rice but I forgot to soak it in the morning.

  • You have a helpful ghost that doesn't want you being late...

  • I have had the same experience with my hearing someone call me when I have forgotten to turn on the alarm the night before. Tell me I didn't feel strange. Oh, I play piano and do some writing - music and pos
prose. The pose you see here at times. The music - well my sister's dog gets to hear that since the piano is at her house.

  • I had even a worse experience. There was one time when I got home ( not my current living place =P). I was locking the door and then someone calling my name from behind, and I tried to turn myself around and found no one XD

  • i think i'm oblivious to my surroundings--unless a bear is around.

  • That is so forkin creepie!! I felt something heavy slam down on my bed in the middle of the night once. I woke up, put all the lights on and searched every inch of the room for it. I found nothing. It haunts me to this day... haunts me I tell you...

  • @zozoyork - yikes!  That is freaky.

  • @Love_Eternal_Desire - for some reason I keep thinking of Yogi Bear every time you mention bear.   I hope that doesn't happen to you.

  • @Fatcat723 - maybe it's the guardian angel?

  • Salmon is so versatile...I like it baked in foil with some butter and herbs. Or panfried  with just a little soy and oil..

  • Quite the comments on here. =)

You sure sound creative. Even with just simple meals at home, you still decorate your plate to make it look appetizing, REALLY!

Camera's are quite the handful to get used to. Even for me, using a friends camera I can be so stupid.

As for the light sleeper, I too am a light sleeper. I hear the slightest whispers through my door when my mom wakes up. And the slightest sound can make my eyes widen and oh boy was it hard to fall back asleep. I feel you on this issue.

  • maybe you have something important to do that day and that's your body telling you to wake up. :)

if not, then definitely someone wants to be remembered. oh, you know what i mean.

  • Thanks, but yours are better! At least they're made by yourself~

  • ok, here's a better way to enjoy salmon.  use some pesto sauce.  it's always available at the supermarket.  you can cook your salmon with pesto or put some on top after the salmon is cooked.  pesto goes great with potatoes and vegetables.  better yet, it also goes great with chicken and shrimps.  you can even make salad dressing with pesto sauce.  or cook fried rice with it.

how to make them?  it's easy but you need a blender or food processor for this though.  buy some basil (or other herb you like), pine nuts (or other nut you like), little bit of garlic & lemon juice, salt & pepper, and lots of olive oil.  you can even add parmesan cheese if you like.  anywho, just blend them all together to the smoothness that you prefer.  keep them in the refrigerator to last quite sometime.

i like my pesto with plain bread slightly toasted.  it makes a great dip ;)

  • @rudyhou - thanks for the tip.    I've never tried it with fried rice, only with pasta.

  • creativity increases in proportionally the closer to the bottom of a bottle of tequila one gets

  • @AppsScraps - I don't know about that.  I've heard the worm isn't that great.  But I guess I'll give this a try.  lol....
