The Would be Writer and his Wolves
I came across this recently but I don't know the source. Perhaps you've seen it already. It sounds like something Rob would write or feature in his blog.
An old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two
"wolves" inside us all. One is Evil.It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed,
arrogance,
self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies,
false pride, superiority and ego.The other is Good.
It is Joy, Peace, Love, Hope, Serenity, Humility, Kindness,
Benevolence, Empathy, Generosity, Truth, Compassion and Faith. The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied "The one you feed."
I write a lot of reports at work. I struggle sometimes to find the right words, the right tone and the right balance. I love it when I have have an hour or two just to write. I fidget a lot too. If you walk by my cubicle you'll likely see me:- pacing around and looking out the window hoping for an inspiration
- standing over my keyboard and reading and/or typing
- standing on the legs of my chair
- on my knees on the chair and typing for a few lines
- legs pumping up and down when I find the right words
And since this is a lazy blog... some pics .
My orchids are blooming again! I have several including those that I rescued from my dad's place.
Some colorful cheeses.
I was walking around my neighborhood and saw this interesting little pattern. It was the underlying brick being exposed that made this shot for me.

looks like they tried to make a nice brick building into a weird castle. Time brings things back to their original states. pretty flowers!
The wolf concept sounds good in theory, but I think every emotion has a good, a bad, and a neutral side.
Take regret for example, it serves a purpose. With regret, we'll be able to learn from our mistakes, because mistakes make us feel bad...
I am not even going to tackle faith, it's too easy.
=) I love to write as well.
But have not been for awhile now. I haven't found the right inspiration to write yet, instead--I've been concentrating my energy towards fashion and designing.
I can imagine you as you describe yourself. Quite funny cause I tend to do the same when I'm out of the house. I can't seem to do anything at home.
Isn't that weird?
BTW--thanks for the comment.
orchids r so pretty =)
i like the cherokee story; it's point is very direct and straightforward.
my dad tried to grow orchids before, but he has a hard time keeping them alive hahaha. looks like you are much more successful!
I enjoy all the native American stories. I spent sometime with them in New Mexico - all the stories are easy to remember and teach.
Orchids are in my office all the time. It is a hobby of the boss.
RYC: I don't know!!!!! I said the boss wrote the directions lolololol.
Interesting story. I like it. The shots of the cheese is really pretty. Is there a cheese shop near your place or did you go to Kensington?

I really don't do anything with them. I clean out their roots once a year and put new "soil". When they are not flowering, I fertilize them about once a month. They get a bit of direct sunlight every morning and that's about it. I have a couple of orchids that haven't flowered in a while as well.
your orchid is blooming again?! ... Every orchid I buy ends up dead within a month
Nice entry. It's hard to sit still when I write, too. Most of the time I'm writing training materials. I have to pace around and "teach" the class in order to find the right words. Thankfully I work from home and the neighbors looking in from the pool just assume I'm talking on my mobile phone (hands-free) or something.
Nice story. Which wolf do you feed?
Have fun - I am at the office today but it is Friday - I just finished doing the exercise and now I am ready for a nap
.
It really is sad when a pet dies. I never ever wanna put another pet to sleep again.
And might I add, I love cheese. That cheese picture you have just made me go to the fridge and grab a slice! Mm Mmmm Good
Great title, great shots, great post!
Good story darling! Yeah I had heard that before....but at my age, I have probably heard all of them.
I am different from you and Chris when I write. I sit still and let my words flow out of me. Any movement, dehydrates and dilutes the thoughts. Sometimes, words come to me in the middle of the night, and I scribble the salient thoughts on a tablet near the bed, and restructure them in the morning.
I love yor orchids. I grow them also. But I should not be as lazy as I have been. I should clean their roots and refertilize them. Lost a couple last year. Broke my heart. Learnt my lesson.
Cheese!!!
Your orchids are beautiful!! It figures you're great with plants as well as cooking!! the writing techniques sounds like a how a creative person writes!! Interesting post! 'Til the Next
I like the Cherokee story.
Your job sounds cool, how you get to be at least a little creative in your writing. It seems like something you want to really work on. I've always wanted to be a good writer, but I've never done anything about it.
And I think my weight-gaining diet permits me to eat cheeses. That pile of cheese looks interesting. Would go nice with some wine, I reckon.
mmmm that is lots of cheese/
ps. that is my other car - work car.
those are awesome lookin' orchids. quite unusual.
