Bits and pieces
I saw the video below on Seth's Blog and thought it was worth sharing. It's safe for viewing at work and in front of kids.
If you like word quizzes - here's a site that will challenge you. For every word you get right, they will donate 20 grains of rice to the UN. As far as I can tell, it's a legitimate site -> FreeRice.Com
The long weekend didn't feel that long at all. There were kids from my bf's family that I played with. But now that his brother has left, the house is very quiet. I also went shopping with my bf. For some reason, he thinks everytime we go shopping, he believes he spends more money thanks to my encouragement. It's one of our long running jokes. But he's actually pretty careful with his money and knows how to stretch a dollar. Me - I know how to stretch my credit card. I also had my sunglasses fixed. Believe it or not I stepped on it and bent the frame badly. I know I know... my bf gave me that same look as well. "You stepped on it?". I mean, hasn't that ever happened to you?
I also saw this protest this morning. It took about 10 minutes to pass though the neighborhood but it was loud and boisterous. It was part of today's demonstration against China. There are a few Tibetan stores down here which is probably why they marched down here. They ended up at Queen's Park - the home of our provincial government. Here's the story about the march.

Shopping is fun. I've noticed a trend in your posts... a majority of them includes details about your good times with your nephews. You really seem to like kids.
I love hearing how you interact with kids... You're going to be a great father one day....Sounds like a great Easter day for you....I know I've been reading so much about protests for Tibet....as I told my son today... You can have a child if you choose just a matter of finding the right egg donor and carrier...He told me I was barking up the wrong tree...Kids

So what's your take on the election in Taiwan?
Cool videos! Sounds like kids really help you enjoy the day.
I haven't read all that much on Tibet and Taiwan, so I'm probably inaccurate. The Tibet thing is interesting. So is the Taiwan thing. I went to the Dalai Lama website yesterday and he was saying how he wants autonomy for Tibet, not independence. The reasoning seems similar with Taiwan (or is Taiwan already considered autonomous?). I think they both recognise that China's growing economy should help them economically. I'm curious to know if there's ever been an analysis of what would happen if Tibet and Taiwan became their own countries.
I've sat and stepped on my glasses countless of times. It's the reason why it's quite crooked and the lense frame is covered in sticky tape to keep it in. I don't use it anymore, though. I use contacts instead.
i would NEVER walk over my cheap (err free?) pair of sunglasses. NEVER!
hahaha i've seen that awareness video before... if that bear was white you would definitely have noticed it. the phenomenon has to do with task-relevance and your ability to not attend to things that are not relevant to your task. cyclists, though, are task-relevant when it comes to driving, or at least they should be!
i went grocery shopping at the asian market with my (white) bf... but he ended up spending more than i did =D
what's your thoughts on boycotting China? ... or not boycotting China? for the olympics?
@kunhuo42 - I kinda knew you would be able to explain this.
I've never stepped on my sunglasses but I've sat on them.
I saw the protest on the news. Did you see that they also boycotted the olympic torch ceremony? It's gonna be a pretty crazy olympics from what I can see...
@CareyGLY - I'm not too close to the politics in Taiwan. It just seems to polarized. You might want to check out one of Spacerboi's recent entry.
@brooklyn2028 - I just watched the news and caught the tail end of that protest.
=) Yes that's quite the video. And I did spot that person walking by, wasn't sure it was bear moon-walkin' Lol.
I love shopping. But I've never stepped my sunglasses. I'm pretty good on stretching my dollar as your bf does. I usually head for the sales, and try to avoid paying full price for something I really want. But, there are those times when I do want the newest stuff full price, but rarely.
I also saw the protest about China and Tibetans on TV this past week. And yeah, I made my mom buy some bananas. Just waiting for them to ripen a bit up. But I'll eat one before I head to bed so my diarrhea doesn't kill.
I also love congee. It's what I asked my mom to make right away after school. But she added a little bit of surgar! XD YUM! && Thanks =) I'll get a checkup soon.

@AppsScraps - I don't think those Olympic boycotts have had any positive impact in the past (e.g. Moscow and LA). I don't think it helps advance the dialogue and further entrenches the current mindset (of the political leaders).
i tried the freerice thing and i cheated. lol! there were some... correction, lots of things i don't know which google provided
I still have not stepped on my sun glasses yet...but I've sat on them a few times!!
Hey, interesting video btw....
Time as when I used to lose my sunglasses all the time. I should write a blog about that and my glasses.
Glad you had such a good time Easter weekend.
Thanks for the video, Matt. As a cyclists, it is all the more meaningful for me.
You stepped on your sunglasses? That begs the question: What were you doing so high up, or what were your glasses doing so low down, that the glasses and your feet were in the same proximity?
After I stepped on my old pair of glasses last year, I am now very careful about my prescription sunglasses and glasses, especially my new pair.
I watch that video before in one my MBA - extended class.
The video was different from what i seen, but same message. And both time I catch the bear.
