An Early Evening Walk
When I got home today, the sun was just starting to set. I grabbed a quick snack and went out for a walk. I grabbed my camera to get some much needed practice. All the settings don't come naturally yet. I have no patience with manuals as well. But alas, I have to carry my manual with me all the time. I just took pictures of whatever caught my eye.
This rusty bike was abandoned over the winter and completely covered under the snow drifts. It still has a certain charm. The fading red paint of the bike rack added a bit of color and complemented the already faded red paint of the bike.
I think people were staring at me as I continued to snap pictures of the buds.
Urban sunset.

Nice pictures! I like the bike one a lot -- so many textures and colors, *drool*
I like the last one...the silhouette of the trees against the sky....nice!!
Now that is what you need - a nice walk with your camera!!
RYC; Thanks. Those posts are for me too!!
Practice makes perfect and it seems like you're doing really well with the settings. The pictures of the buds are awesome. I like the bike shot too. It's funny cause it's a really great shot but I would probably just walk past it without even noticing it. And wasn't the weather just perfect yesterday!! I love it!
the sunset shot reminds of a picture my friend took at death valley of a sunset with the silhouette of a tree in the foreground. photography's interesting because it lets you show someone else your perspective without the ability to make modifications like you can do with paintings. i'm not a great photographer, but one of the people in my lab is pretty good.
nicely done...
i too laugh a little to myself as i know
there are people thinking i'm crazy for some of the photos
i tend to shoot. Wondering what I'm doing.
ha,, have a good weekend

You are good at taking pictures! The 2nd and 3rd photos look nice!
great pix! like a pro!
ryc: where in chris's blog did the review appear?
Sunsets and budding flowers are my favorite to take pictures of.... besides my grandchildren. Good photos Matt. Take longer walks.
RYC: I don't know how it will end up tasting. Picture would bee fine except my niece "borrowed" my camera. I think it is at college with her now
.
Let them stare!!
i enjoy looking at "the buds". i like the contrast of the blurry background and the focused buds.
Looks good brother. Sometimes I feel shy to take pictures in public because of stares.
You have so many talents!! I really enjoyed the pics....I know I am shy so when people stare at me I tend to become selfconcious about what I'm doing, but it was worth the pics you have!! I hope you're all well again and enjoying spring....Life is very beautiful I agree.. 'Til The Next
@GracePrince - I just act like I know what I'm doing. Actually once I get the first few shots out of the way, you don't feel too self conscious anymore. After that, you're busy focusing (literally) on what you're doing. Take care.
I love the picture of the bike. It's really unique!
hah i already get random stares when i take pictures of food, so i can imagine how people look at you for just taking pictures of the buds.
@couldquitepossiblybeme - thanks for the compliment.
Spring has finally invaded Ithaca, and it's definitely an invasion I am incredibly thankful for! I'll try to snap pictures, for your indulgence, of the illustrious Cornell campus as much as I can
RYC: Welcome to the club!!!!!
i find it weird that this post has no food in it. where have all those delicious stuff you cook gone?
