Childhood bad habits
As I was rushing to get ready for work the other day, a
thought slammed into my head. I was
trying to find my socks, a clean shirt, get my laptop packed, my files tucked
into my laptop bag, wash my thermos mug, look for my building passes and my car
keys. Now some of you may be surprised
at how disorganized I can be but that’s me.
It struck me that many years ago in elementary school – I was just like
that.I would rush in the morning trying to find matching socks, look for a clean shirt (school
uniform), pack my previous night’s homework into my bag and rush to
school. I seldom made my bed much to the
chagrin of my parents. Most of the time, my mom would get tired of this and make sure I got everything ready the night before.Procrastination? You wouldn't believe the mad rush on Sunday nights trying to get my homework ready for Monday.
Isn’t it amazing how bad habits from many years ago still
persist?

tsk tsk, matt.
ryc: haha...thanks matt!
You made me think about my childhood days. And it is true. I do t4he same thing in the mornings as I did when I was a youngster. Thanks Matt.
yup. some things just never change.
hehe
Chronic procrastinators are often perfectionists. You suppress the need to get it done perfectly by putting it off, then you must rush to catch up. So give yourself a break, half ass it the night before and then try to get a decent night's sleep without it eating you in half.
lol i like the way you wrote that, it's cute. imagine how much better things could be if you had created a habit of being organised. you'll stress less and it'll be easier to do what you wanted.
i am one of those messy, last minute people. your post encourages me to get organised tonight. i will get organised tonight! i'll report back tomorrow... this SHOULD push me to be organised...........
argh, I need to stop procrastinating so much on everything too!!! ><"
I hate it!! I hate procrastination!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Grrrrrrrrrrr*
yup...old habits die hard...
hahahaha i procrastinate too, although not about getting ready in the morning. i usually procrastinate once i've gotten to work! ah well, we are, after all, creatures of habit...
I know exactly what you mean.
I still have my usual routine of getting ready for school. Some days I say I want to get up early (that never happens, I just hit the snooze, and fall right back asleep til it's close to the when I usually get up, or just oversleep), but I never do.
And being disorganized, well, I've been doing pretty much of that as well.
I just throw everything on this computer table, hoping I remember to take it with me to school the next day.
Haha....you've got plenty of company. Me, being one!
doh!
haha are we all doomed?
Yes and no! sometimes, your partner can be worse than you, and then you begin the improvemnet phase.
I have lots of bad habits as well. haha
Procrastinators get the high of having to rush near the end. It's a chemical dependency
hahaha...you gotta check the definition of habit =) well, i hate sunday too =p
I hope you realize you can change this habit, and that this ought to be the real end goal of this post
haha...what other bad habits do u have?...lol
@ayu_motosan - too many to mention. hee hee...

@AppsScraps - you're right, the good habits need to slowly creep in and replace them.
@spacerboi - hahaha - I think I've gotten high too many times by procrastinating.
@dolphin27 - you & me both!
@ZSA_MD - hahaha, he claims to be perfect, well, a lot better than I am.
@junshien - oh no!
@curry69curry - hee hee, looks like I'm in good company then.
@ALTRUISTICDREAMER - just take the computer table with you to school.
@kunhuo42 - the only habit I've kicked is running.
@icebladz - yeah, but it's not impossible to replace them with good habits. Or so I've heard.
@tomatoboi - same here, I'll get around to fixing this sometime.
@twistedoff - so did you get organized today?
@apocatim - I seem to be pretty good at doing things half assed. lol..
@JonasApproved - gotta add your fitness routine to my habits.
@Fatcat723 - yeah, I guess I should have listened to my parent's lectures a bit more.
@zozoyork - have a safe trip!
@Love_Eternal_Desire - I know... sigh.
@ElusiveWords - Lol. It's too damn big
guilty,,, i've always been one of those too...
that wait to the last minute to start, and complete
just about anything.
BUT, I hate being late for meeting my friends,
I am always early for appointments, ect.
Who knows what goes on in this head of mine.
peace *~matthew~*
My mom recently gave back my grade cards from elementary school, and I got to read all of my teachers opinions of me...
NONE of them have changed!
