  • Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to work we go…

I just know in my next life, I will live in a world of Mondays.  Everyday will be a Monday.  There aren’t any long weekends.   People will be cheerfully telling me, we have a 3 day Monday coming up – isn’t that great!  Although today is Thursday, it just feels like a Monday.

Today was to be a quiet day so I wanted to work from home and write my reports.  But lo and behold, a construction crew has set up across the street and there are small tractors and dump trucks just below my window.   Even with the windows shut, I can still hear them.  To top it off, the network response at home is slow this morning.  It was tough accessing some of the applications at my company’s site.  I also got an error message “The request could not be understood by the server due to malformed syntax.”  Yes, that was very helpful error message.

So before I pack my stuff up and head into work, I thought I would share some food porn.

I made this beef chow mein for my dad last week.  He was puzzled why I would take pictures of  my cooking.  “The food is getting cold!”  I added some shitake mushrooms, yao choy, carrots, garlic, spring onions and shallots.

I haven’t had a lot of success making steamed minced pork.  I tried doing this with dried / preserved mustard leaves.  I wasn’t happy with the texture of the meat although the flavor was ok.  I would give this 2 / 5.

  • “Malformed syntax…”?  What the heck does that mean?  Sounds like something my 7th grade English teacher wrote when grading my homework.

Have you managed to gain so much bad karma in this life that you’ll be reborn to a world of Mondays?  My, my… you must have been a very naughty child!  =)

Your father not understanding why you take pictures of your food is very funny.  If ever there were a cultural or generational chasm, that would be it.  “Wait, don’t eat!  I need to document this for my blog.”

  • Food porn yummy!!! My week would have no Mondays but that would make Tuesdays Mondays. .

  • beef chow mein! yum :)

  • I also have tractors outside my house this week. Occasionally they drop or ram into something hard enough that the ground shakes. They’re going so fast sometimes it looks like a demolition derby.

Are you on a PC at home? You can try tracert [website] via your command prompt (Start > Run > cmd > [ENTER]) to see where the bottleneck is.

  • Aiya, I’m going out to dinner soon….after seeing your dishes, my stomach is growling really loud!!

  • @christao408 - hahaha… my brother was also asking what I do with all the pictures I take.  They don’t know I have a blog.

@curry69curry - but I know you’ll get even by posting more pictures of food.

  • RYC: NOPE, you guessed WRONG! haha

my convocation is going to be on next wednesday~ ^^

  • Where is the sex part?

Oh, speaking of steaming minced pork, try adding red onion flakes in them
    it’s taiwanese…

    (speaking of cooking…)
The dinner I made for my boyfriend was really salty…I didn’t get the proportions right, and to top it off, I baught the wrong sauce up there…
I am just not used to sauces in bottles that are not Cantonese of Taiwanese…

Most of the sauces they sell are from China.  Although they have the same names, they do not taste the same…

  • Are u really listening to…. Hard Candy?!

  • “sounds like somebody has a case of the mondays…”  (extra points if you know where that quote is from!)

yesterday felt like a friday to me…  but maybe that’s because i wanted it to be a friday.  problems at work…  our data collection computer keeps crashing on me and nobody knows why.  it’s bad…

mmm…  food porn always helps!  maybe i will have some this weekend… i am going to try out a new cake recipe this weekend.

  • I know what you mean about mondays.

Even Monday’s are slow in a restaurant, and I can’t bare to stand around being bored. I really need an office job and more hands-on work.
I think I’d fall in love living where you live, being able to do something everyday, and just opening the window to see the view that’s outside.

But I alsoe enjoy living here in the small city setting, being able to bike anywhere within a few minutes etc.

Food on the other hand–we always have to experiment. Especially when I’m making my family taste my cooking.

Have fun, today is finally Friday.

  • wow! looks good! =)

  • Sorry Matt… now that I have retired, all my days seem like Saturdays!!!

I loved the beef and noodles dish.  I was in Toronto last month and went to this Indian restaurant. The food was great. I took some pictures. Every body looked at me as if I had gone bonkers. ” what is wrong with you?” was a question that every one asked. ha ha ha.

I loved the phrase food porn. I might use it sometime.

  • I just gave him a stare, moved away, mumbling “you are getting WAY too comfortable around me…”
and that was one month after we started seeing each other

  • I should also mention my face had the expression of disbelief as well…

  • the minced pork? erm i usually add dash of potato flour… beat the eggs and pour on top if it, “cawan minced pork mushi” (japanese + chinese style = fufu steamed minced pork)

  • @pisceanfood - yes!  I picked up some CDs the other day, including Duffy, Amy Winehouse and kd lang.  (hmm… all women).

@kunhuo42 - hope the cake turned out well.

@ALTRUISTICDREAMER - I live right in the heart of the city and I like it.

@ZSA_MD - hahaha… I’ve seen it used to describe FoodTV.

    @gyjcwang - lol…

@lcfu - I’ll have to try that next time.

  • yummy, wish i could cook as good as you.

  • haha my whole family and relatives know to wait for me to take pictures of my food now. i’m glad we’re over the awkward “why is he taking pictures of food” stage.

  • tht’s really nice cooking ;)

  • i love steamed minced meat.  it goes so great with rice porridge ;)
