My corny humor
Sometimes I don’t know how my bf puts up with my corny jokes. But I’ve always believed having a sense of humor is important. I use it effectively at work to help smooth things over. Here’s one of the corny things that I do with my bf.
My bf is the numbers guy and in his job – he deals with
business cases, financial results and all those things that go blurry in front
of my eyes. Ledger, credits, debits,
accruals – these have no meaning to me. Unless
of course, you want to make a deposit into my bank account. So I tease him with nonsensical things.
“I have a great idea.”
He rolls his eyes “Uhm… ok, what is it?”
In a very serious tone, I tell him “I’m surprised no one has thought of this yet. I had to think out of the box.”
He hangs on to the steering wheel as he’s driving. “Go ahead… I’m listening.” But I know he’s thinking “Oh gawd… pls make this quick. I hope I don’t hit something or someone when I’m listening to him.”
“Well, you know how people have to pay lawyers and others to
be the executors of their will?”“Yeah?”
“I’m going to show people how to save money. They can be the
executors of their own will – cut out the middle man and save lots of money! No one else has thought of that! Now that’s thinking outside of the box.”He shakes his head while I laugh like crazy.
* * * * * * *We also have this routine when we go grocery shopping. The Chinese supermarket we go to charges $1
as a deposit for their cart (yeah – I know, it’s outrageous!). I always let him get the cart so he can pay with his loonie. But I always return the
cart. So you’d think I have been earning lots of money by returning the cart. Well, so far I’ve only made $1 in god knows how many years. That’s only because someone left a loonie in the cart and didn’t know how to get it out. I could walk back into his car buck naked and he wouldn’t notice. He would be waiting for that loonie. I could blab about something to distract him
and he won’t start the engine until the loonie hits the little coin box. Sometimes I will say “clink” and pretend that
I’ve thrown the loonie into the coin box but that hasn’t worked either. I know, it’s silly but it helps breaks some of the monotony when we do chores together.Ok – I think I can see everyone rolling their eyes.
Here are some food pics. This is from the recent Ribfest out in Mississauga. It was ok – I had higher expectations.
Ok – this isn’t rib but I’ve been making use of my little herb garden. This is just pasta and shrimp in a tomato sauce (from the farmer’s market). The string beans are also from the farmer’s market.

oh, you are being silly, lol! Rolling my eyes, hehe!! in the video, am I supposed to watch the ribs being cooked, or the nice rib doing the cooking? that is my level of corny humor. I bet you are rolling your eye right now, hehe.
uhh… I guess I’m just really dumb
but I don’t get your jokes on both accounts
what are you trying to say??
correct me if I’m wrong
1) “excutioners of their own will” means the person will kill him/herself and save money that way?
2) the “someone” who cant take out the loonie is you?
I like your corny humor!
ROFFLE!!!
That’s really cute, the things you guys do
I don’t think of grocery shopping is a chore though, I like going out, buying food, and fantasizing about what I am going to make…
yes…fantasize…
BF just complained I am not making food for him and has no problems with him cooking all the time…
I just thought he likes it…
Ribs festival….sounds interesting =)
don’t worry. i only rolled my eyes 3 times while reading that. j/k.
Okay I enjoy the humor. Actually it sounds like something I would say to a lawyer friend. Love ribs but I also love shrimp and pasta. Better, I love going to farmer’s markers.
Haha that’s too cute. I like the fact that you make that fake clinking noise.
You are a cutie Matt. Wish you lived closer to me. I would laugh at your corny jokes all the time.
Haha, I make corny jokes, too! I’d call my jokes “lame” jokes, though. People tend to have that pretend “heh heh heh” laugh when I tell them one. I just can’t seem to stop myself
Your joke was, I thought, at least slightly clever.
@stevew918 - hee hee… you’re too silly.
@brooklyn2028 - I was actually thinking of your recent entry about laughing as I was writing this.
@ZSA_MD - oh my, I don’t want to torture you.
@twistedoff - hahaha (pretend) j/k!!
@tomatoboi - don’t worry, sometimes my jokes are so corny a lot of people don’t get it.
@zozoyork - it was good, you can buy full rack, half rack or 1/3 rack of ribs, have a combo with chicken and pulled pork too. The line ups were very long though.
@gyjcwang - I fantasize about food too. But reality sets in pretty quickly.
@ElusiveWords - how much do they charge for a full rack? now I am hungry XD
@zozoyork - $20 for full rack, $13 for half rack, $9 for 1/3 rack, chicken and ribs combo $15, pulled pork was $6. The smoke that drifted over was free and stayed in your hair and clothes.
hm…not that cheap as I thought. Then I would rather sit down at Tony Roma’s or all u can eat Montanas for full rack for just $23 =) but I doubt i will do so lol….that’s so fattening XD
I know have this really interesting picture in my mind of how that entire shopping cart interaction takes place in your car. Kind of like having storyboarded the entire thing. Wonder how it compares to reality. The part where you say “clink” is very funny.
I can imagine how the scenes played out between you two in the car….cute!!
ryc: Glad that you enjoyed the music!!
LOL @ Ribfest
haha you’re silly :]
i wonder what else has happened between you and your boyfriend in the car ;]
haha
and dang
im kinda getting hungry
hahaha that’s funny. i go shopping with my bf a lot… mostly for my amusement, as he is something of an impulse shopper and picks up some of the oddest things sometimes (even if he has no idea what it is) hahaha.
I’m with tomatoboi on this on Matt
…and yeh, Ribfest; we regularly attend the one in London and are often disappointed too
go back. go back. i added some more. lol!
wow! look at those servings…. are they insurance covered?
Hrmm…
You and your boyfriend always seem like you guys are having fun.
=)
now THAT’S proof of a great relationship – loonie or not! speaking of which, that deposit thing sounds interesting…
the two of you sound cute together….
the thought of paying and returning the cart is odd…
but you made me smile in the story you told of the loonie..
very cute.
be well,
*~matthew~*
You’re hilarious!! Great food porn….’Til The Next
feeling better? hm… what are you talking about =/
those ribs are making me hungry now. but of all places, Mississauga? more culture there than I expected!
ryc: aww but i wanna be superwoman
=[
ryoc: what alternative ways are there of relieving myself?
=]
(cant wait to see what you say for this one)
think outside of the box…speechless*..lol
