  • Another day in the park

I saw him out of the corner of my eye as I was walking through the park one day.  He was just sleeping by the base of the tree.  I liked how the light filtered through the
leaves and left this soft spotlight effect.

The next 2 pictures were also from the same park.  It has a bit of a nostalgic feel .... sort of like looking back in time.

How hard could it be to catch a ball?  I remember the first time I played softball
at school.  It was my first week at school in Canada.  I never played it before and
they put me out in centre field.  I had no ideas what the rules were.  I just stood there and watched for a while.  After a while some kid hit the ball and it was coming towards me.  I saw
the ball rising up and up so I back pedaled slowly and raised my hands.  I didn't have a clue how to judge the distance of the ball.  It landed about 50
feet behind me.  I didn’t know what to do
with it either.  Everyone was yelling at me.  I ran towards the ball and threw it back towards the infield.  I think I realized then I wasn't going to be a jock.

I remember my first time on skates.  It looked so easy watching everyone skate
around.  When I got on the ice I couldn’t
figure out how to move.  My feet were
moving but I wasn’t.  I ended holding the
side of the rink for the entire session while slowly shuffling my way around
    the rink.

And finally just one food picture.  This is simply pasta, shrimp and veggies (carrots, broccoli, peppers and

    shallots).

  • The food pic looks the best! *yum*~

  • i am hungry now. :)

  • I am too full to feel hungry for the food pic ( tummy fully loaded before browsing ur blog ;P )

  • I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that pasta dish!

  • I like the photo of the man sleeping. You caught the light at just the right moment. I do remember the first ball field and trying to ice skate. Boy was my arse sore.

  • Haha loved your anecdote. I realized I wasn't meant to be a jock either when I kicked to the opposite goal during soccer in elementary school. Agh, quite embarassing.

  • hahaha  i can't skate either.  the one time i tried, i couldn't even really get around using one of those walker-like things that are supposed to help little kids skate without falling down (there were kids a lot younger than me doing so much better than i was).  oh well...  i'll just stick to running =D

something about that picture of the man sleeping kind of strikes a chord, but i can't figure out exactly what it is.

  • that pasta looks good!

  • Great memories Matt.

Saadia had a similar experience with the ice skates when she tried them on the first time.  She was three or four and I was furious that the instructor wan't paying attention to my daughter.

  • The pictures reminded me of fall season...nice home cooked dish! Have a nice weekend!

  • like the look of that healthy pasta! excellent job on nutrition haha

i'm not good at sports, either. why does that always make me sad that we can't play sport that well?

i like how a picture can bring about so many thoughts and emotions

  • That's a beautifully-composed picture, Matt.

  • Good lord, we have the exact same sports memories. Someday I'll tell you about how I was invited to leave the first grade soccer team because I was trying to protect the frog spawn in the puddles on the field.

  • @tomatoboi - hahaha, I need to work on my photography (not just food)

    @vsan79 - again?

@zozoyork - "fully loaded" - lol, there are a few blogs that I subscribe to (including yours) that are dangerous to look at on an empty stomach.

@mmmagination - this one is really simple and no cream sauce.  You can add some Canadian bacon, peas, chicken breast etc.. to give it more variety.

@Fatcat723 - I was just looking at that picture and think I should recompose it.

@Rm2046 - hahaha... but hey, you're really talented in music.  I think I can play the scale and that's about it.  Oh yeah and the "do re mi..." from the Sound of Music.

@kunhuo42 - I have mixed feelings about that sleeping man too.  In a way, I sort of envied his carefree way and just sleeping in the park.  On the other hand, I think he's also homeless and/or living in one of the rooming houses in the 'hood.

@ABSOLUTmichael - it was really simple to make but not too fattening.

@ZSA_MD - thank you.  I should try skating again.

@curry69curry - fall is here and I need to take some pics of the leaves!

@twistedoff - the only sport I had some success was squash.

@christao408 - thanks, it's not easy trying to compose a shot out in the field.  I'm always so self conscious that people were watching me take pictures.

@Binakwan - I guess if they put the frogs just inside the goal, you would have made a terrific goalie!

  • That looks yummy...
My food never look as good

  • @Wangium - it's the taste that matters.  I sometimes spend a bit of time rearranging all the food.  But by the time I finish taking the pictures, the food is not hot anymore.
