I've written about my local Farmers' Market before. I go there almost every Sunday to pick up a few things here and there. It's small but functional. I can also buy (most of the time) things in small quantities. The prices are a bit higher than the supermarkets though for most things but I think it's worth it.
This is actually part of a film maker's documentary about understanding where food comes from. It was a hit for the kids who wanted to pet the chickens. They were surprisingly quiet aside from a few clucks here and there.
Somehow shopping with music seems a bit more festive and puts you in the right mood (hmm... this must be an old marketing trick). Sorry for the abrupt zooms and pullback and the dizzying pans.

Farmers markets are great... I wish we had one here!!
You're quite welcome... thanks for writing and posing! I'll ship you a bucket of coconut water... hahaha... You know, I rarely drink it here, but as soon as I go to USA or UK, I find myself missing it. I need a better quality camera with a real lens and more memory and then some aim and practice... hopefully my videos will be better... hahaha. Thanks!
dizzying pans? I assure you that there were none
great videos~ at first I thought the chickens were not caged. XD
i love videos
I miss the farmer's market in downtown LA...
All the food there is about 1/2 the price from supermarkets and they are organic on top of that...
over here farmer's market is more expensive than regular markets...I guess Mexico is too far away
wah..so organic eh
We have a great farmers' market here - in fact 2 now. One in downtown Sarasota and now one in Siesta Key. Lovely
ah, i love our famers market, i try to visit it every weekend as well.
There is something about it, especially in the fall months.

OMG I love the old guy playing the accordian!!! And can't wait to shop there. You better not run away when you see me! HAHAHA!
@Binakwan - nothing like cold coconut water on a hot steamy day.
@tomatoboi - at first, I thought they were selling live chickens!
@Wangium - one of them told me that they go to several markets a week and it's a lot of work prepping all their products (especially the lady who makes muffins and pies). Plus the labor involved...
@zozoyork - actually, not all the products there are organic. But most of the farmers seem to be careful (at least from what they were telling the customers) about spraying pesticides.
@Fatcat723 - I hope they are close by or near public transport.
@bleuzeus - yeah, I guess it's the end of the farming season - makes you long for the next one.
@brooklyn2028 - when are you moving in? The building almost looks complete.
@ElusiveWords - Yes, they are on the bus lines.
Suporting local farmers and local agriculture is worth the extra price. Your food is healthier, the community is stronger, and the environmental impact is almost always less than by buying at the grocery store.
farmers market are always fun...too bad i can never get up early enough to go these days.
I've heard about those markets on the Food Network! Maybe one of those were showed on the channel as well. That guy didn't mind you filming him? hehhe
