Beating back a cold
For the past few days, I've been teetering on the edge of a cold. I also had some stomach problems which fortunately went away after a day. But thanks to some herbal tea and one good night of rest, I think I managed to get past without it blooming into a full blown cold. My bf has a different herbal medicine. But both of the herbal tea we make use ginger - lots of it.
It's been so busy at work and I'm just mentally exhausted when I get out of work. I don't think I can even hold an intelligent conversation let alone update my blog. My bf has just gotten rid of his cold. My sister has also gotten rid of her cold too from a couple of weeks ago. At work, I hear lots of coughs and sniffles. Sometimes when I have to work in another building, I wipe down the phone with one of those sanitary wipes. I also wash my hands frequently just to be safe.
Winter is just around the corner now. I had to get new snow tires the other day and that made a big dent in my wallet. While I was waiting for my car, I overheard this woman talking to someone else. She believes that the Vatican and the Queen of England controlled everything. It didn't matter who won the US election - those 2 rule. After all, she claimed - it's all out in the internet. She kept saying to her friend - if only people just read more of what's out in the internet, they would become more aware of what is really going on.
I don't know... I shouldn't laugh. Maybe I'm the one who is less enlightened.

That's a terrible feeling. It's in the 90's here, but we have fires. It's always something! Hope you feel better.
hope you get well soon. Snow tire? mmm, winter must be coming soon. Can you bring the snow to California to douse the flame in my neighborhood?
tea is great for a cold! i caught a cold yesterday and unfortunately, the viruses are adamant and wont leave before they make me suffer for a bit.
btw i wanna meet that lady! i always wonder if the world would ever go completely nuts. maybe she can help achieve that?
Lol. I've been sick since summer. On-going things. Stuffy nose almost every day.
And now this week coughing and even a high fever.
hm.... Vatican and Monarch of England eh.
well for me, it depends on who the heads of those 2 are
if it was John Paul II and Queen Elizabeth II, then I'd be fine with it
but not Benedict XVI and Charles.. hehe
Hope you get better soon. I have a slight cold as well.
go, herbal tea! i used to hate the mysterious stuff my mum gave me, but i appreciate it more these days, because it is increasingly being recognised as a viable alternative as the word spreads.
i dislike getting sick. i think it's all tied into what i eat and how much i exercise. though, sometimes you just can't avoid it.
be diligent with the medicine and all the 'getting better' activities, you'll be bright as day soon enough
The cold season has hit here also. Herbal tea and Bing de Ling ( which will boost your immune system) seem to be what is prescribed most. Secret - the wold is controlled by Santa and the Easter Bunny!!
WINTER...yay!
It feels good to catch a cold and stay home in winter...
@CareyGLY - yeah, I'm feeling a lot better now. I've been watching the fires in the news - just sad and scary.
@stevew918 - I hope there will be rain soon out there or at least no wind.
@carpe_diem99 - I don't know if you could have a sane conversation with her.
@ALTRUISTICDREAMER - maybe you have dust, mite or pet allergies?
@tomatoboi - I don't know.. I tend to dismiss these conspiracy theories.
@mmmagination - thank you.
@twistedoff - I used to hate those herbal teas too. I remember watering the plants with them.
@Fatcat723 - Santa and the Easter Bunny? No wonder we're all getting chubby. hahahaha
@ayu_motosan - hahaha - you're so silly.
i'm glad you are feeling better now (sorry, i would have wished you well if i had been online in time to do so!). be sure to get your flu shot... not that it will help with the cold, but it will help with the flu!
Hope you feel better and can avoid the worst of cold season. That's something I don't miss about cooler climes. Ginger is definitely a potent plant with great medicinal value.
As for Liz and the Pope, that would certainly be an interesting alliance, especially from a historical perspective.
That was funny. I am surprised you didn't barge into the conversation. I would have, i think. What a hoot!
Feel good babe. Keep some eucalyptus oil on hand. Excellent for a blocked nose.Just smell some on a cotton ball.
*hugs*
You work too much.
Get well soon..and don't work too hard! Here in LA is so hot and dry and we're on fire! Please bring some rain and snow to us!! Haha~~
@kunhuo42 - I still have to get the flu shot. But I think the cold is gone.
@christao408 - yeah, it's amazing what ginger can do.
@ZSA_MD - thanks for the tip!
@AppsScraps - yeah, I think my body is telling me to slow down.
@curry69curry - no snow yet in the city but there is on the outskirts. I hope you folks get a good dousing of rain to drench the fires.
