  • Xanga's text editor

Xanga’s text editor is getting to be a pain.  I always write my entries on a Word document first before transferring it to Xanga.  But it always messes up the fonts, the spacings and leaves a bunch of funny characters at the top.  Whenever I load my pictures, the text never seems to align itself properly.

I always have to go back and re-edit everything in Xanga’s editor.  In my last entry, you’ll note that there’s 2 blank lines between the paragraphs.  But when I edit my entry, it only shows 1 blank line.  It’s so frustrating.

Has anyone else had success transferring their entries to Xanga from Word?  Is it because I'm using Firefox?  I'm leaving those characters up this time (as a protest).  Grrr....

  • Haha, as a protest.

You know...I did that a few times--type my post on word and transfer over. I had no problems and I, too, use firefox mozilla.

I could have sworn I saw 2 i's in elusivewords. Are there 2 ppl with this similaar name? Im confused.

  • I have ALWAYS written directly on Xanga, so I can't offer any tips.

  • I often type directly on Xanga also most of the time.  I do have a tough time with the fonts though.

  • Yes... I type in Word first too (and Firefox), and it is always something I have to go back and fix that has formatted wrong or showed some stupid typing that I didn't put in. The similar thing that really cheese me off is when I go to reply to a comment, there ae 5 lines of text like "ewrtgv@#%^B234vvvvvvvvvvvvvvt356234#@$^%@3v1234" at the top that I have to type around (and the curser is not at the end of that, so I can't jus start typing). Why do I need to see this? If this was a hotel, that would be back-of-house stuff. I want front desk lah.

    Good protest.

  • I wrote in Word first for awhile, but tired of the problems you described.  But even when I write directly in the Xanga editor, I have a fair number of problems.  Enough to think that it isn't quite as user friendly as it should be.  Maybe I'm using an old editor.  Xanga does keep prompting me to go to the "new" homepage, so maybe I'm not using all the technology that's available to me.

  • Um I always type directly when I am using Firefox ( no Words needed ) but if I use Safari then it become html editor. Well prob I am using Mac, so the firefox is diff? =P
Have you tried using IE ? Prob that will allow u to type rite away? Tell me when after u tried =)

  • Word has it's own formatting. Try using a plain text software like notepad to write the entries before copying to Xanga.

  • all part of the fun, matt.

i think i've only writen one entry in word. i tend to use the "private" button in xanga if I haven't finished a post and wanted to post it officially later.

  • I use Foxfire as my browser and type on xanga without any problems.

  • i always write directly on xanga so i have no idea why you're experiencing this. but the protest - hhahaa that was funny!
