Another day in the life of Matt
I was cleaning up in the kitchen the other day, putting away dishes, cutting boards and other stuff. I left one of the cupboard doors open (just slightly). I turned away to reach for something and turned back. Of course, my head hit the door. It wasn't a hard hit. But hard enough to confirm that you don't see birds circling your head while chirping their little hearts out. I can also confirm that swearing helps reduce the pain.
This week, I also broke 2 bowls. One was just an ordinary soup bowl. But the other one was from a pottery in Chiang Mai that I shipped back years ago. On other things that are breaking. I haven't found someone to service my washing machine yet. It still works but the squeaking sound is worrisome. My receiver also stopped working. I'll probably have to take that in for repairs. I just dread rewiring those speakers. It took my brother and I a couple of hours to set everything up.
Speaking of things that are wearing out... my dental hygenist warned me about my receding gum lines and told me to be more gentle when brushing. She said it's a common mistake. While I was carefully brushing my teeth that night, I looked in the mirror and noticed my receeding hairline. As I finished up in the washroom, I looked down to see if anything else was receding. The only thing that wasn't receding seems to be my tummy. Sigh...
I did manage to make a decent dish this week. Bittermelon and beef with home made black bean sauce.
It took a day to air out my condo.

Hehehe. I had a good laugh reading this post. It's a classic day in everybody's life Matt.
Your life is so much more filling than mine.
I'm kind of waiting to get into that groove of having a set life instead of a busy crazy schedule that allows me 5 hours of sleep a night, and the rest up and going to school and doing sports.
But I'm sure you miss your younger years too?
things that are wearing out......oh my cable box receiver I guess.....there was no signal at all last night(Sat) and this morning.....it just comes and goes....while my neighbours hv no problems at all....
Enjoy a relaxing Sun
the dish looks wonderful, I wish I were your neighbor.
i haven't broken anything this past week, but i have noticed a leak on the back porch.. that makes me very sad.
have a great week Matt,
*~matthew~*
@Dezinerdreams - hee hee... glad you liked it.
@ALTRUISTICDREAMER - I don't know if my life is more filling than yours. Your life right now is hectic with school and after school activities. Eventually your schedule will change when you go to college / university. The 5 hours of sleep will likely remain the same though.
@agmhkg - yeah, everything is wearing out.
@bleuzeus - thank you. I'm not a handy man. I usually call my brother over to fix things. You have a great week too.
I hit my head one time just like you did, Man it hurted and I almost fainted. Well, receding waist line is good, how do you do that?
lol, becarefull my friend.
I tend to hurt myself when I was in a hurry.
@stevew918 - lol... that's not receding.
@vsan79 - oh yeah *rubs head*, I'll be careful next time.
Well, the dish looks delicious and the fresh air is good for the condo. But do be careful. Things can be replaced but you cannot!
receding gum line? oh my, I better be gentle with my teeth brushing too as I tend to brush them hard... haha
Oh, you poor thing. Hit your head, break your bowls, brush your gums into recession! What next?
Hope the next week is smoother...
@Fatcat723 - yeah, I was barefoot when I had to clean up the broken bowl. But I was very careful and didn't get hurt.
@tomatoboi - good, you don't want your gums to recede.
@christao408 - I hope it'll be a quiet, productive but uneventful week.
are you becoming a panda bear, matt?!
@ABSOLUTmichael - I hope not!! (nothing against bears) I better get to the gym again.
I brush too hard too
BTW, I was just thinking
you live in downtown Toronto right?
Why do you still drive to work?
@Wangium - I work out of a couple of offices. 2 are downtown so I can just take public transit. My "regular" one would be about bus, subway & then bus again. The bus only runs during rush hour. There's another office that I spend a lot of time in too and that's a bit further away than my "regular" office. Basically bus / streetcar to subway and then a long bus ride. But sometimes I work at home too.
if you brush too hard, try one of those sonic care toothbrush, it works great. I had something like that happened to me before, except that I hit my head on the freezer door cuz I didn't know my roommate opened it when I was putting stuff away
sorry to hear that. yeah, there are days where I break things but it hasn't happened for a while.
Regarding receding hairline, I have just the product for you that I actually use currently called "Hairever I." Perhaps I'll write about it in an article but check it out:
http://www.baar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=001&Product_Code=9567
I use this if not everyday, then at least weekly.
But yeah, despite the fact I often shave my head, you can still see I have a full head of hair especially if I give it a couple weeks to grow back.
I don't necessarily have a receding hairline but I do have relatives including my father who lossed their hair. The reason I use this though is because I noticed the chlorine in swimming pools start to make my scalp itch and also perhaps even fall out. It feels irritated due to all the harsh chemicals. I bought this though and since then, my hair has felt great and hasn't been bothered despite my routine swim schedule.
The reason why people lose hair is because hair follicles get clogged. People don't realize this but regular shampoos and conditioners clog the hair follicles which lead to balding, or in my situation, irritated skin, which explains why it gets itchy.
My stylist initially recommended a whole line of shampoos and conditioners but they were expensive, perhaps costing over $25 just for one set. I later bought hairever I which is just a scalp treatment solution that has the same formula as the products my stylist recommended. When you massage it into your scalp for 3 minutes, your head feels like a medicated peppermint patty was put onto it. You can easily tell your hair follicles have been opened as they can easily "breathe" again. Follow-it up with your normal products and that's it.
It may seem to cost a lot for around $15 but keep in mind the solution is already concentrated so you only just apply a small dash onto your hand and massage it so a bottle lasts long. It is said to promote hair growth and discourage hair loss. More importantly, it worked for me
i've hit my head on cabinet doors before. for things that are designed to move back and forth, they sure stay rooted firmly in place when your head is on a collision course with them!
speaking of things wearing out, my cell phone stopped getting signal (it would go the whole day claiming there was no service anywhere, and then the battery would be drained and i'd have to charge it just to have it do the same thing the next day...), so i had to pick up a new phone over the weekend.
So many problems, haha. Do you brush using circular motions? I heard that is better than straight back and forth brushing.
I was told to brush from top down on your top row while turning the wrist and using the edge of the toothbrush and vice versa on the bottom row.
@icebladz - I just might do that... thanks for the tip.
@alchemystfury - wow - thanks for the big tip. I'll have to check this out. I just hope the product doesn't have a strong smell.
@kunhuo42 - hahaha - I'm willing to wager that you don't swear like a pirate when it happens to you.
Hitting heads on cabinet doors is like my family's traditional sport... we have this must-be-genetic thing of leaving the doors open then forgetting they're open. When I moved from USA, I had 17 drinking glasses my family had since I was a little kid. Within a year, they were all destroyed. By me.
I think it's funny how you managed to symbolise your body's issues with those of your dishes. But really, we're all falling apart everyday. Not everyone can be Blanche Devaraux.
@ElusiveWords - hmm, i don't think it really smells. But it actually starts feeling very medicated once you put it on. There were other products from the same brand for Hairever but i only liked this specific solution. The shampoo dried out my hair. The conditioner felt waxy. I just used this one with my regular shampoo and conditioner.
yehey, another food picture! i gotta agree with the tummy thing. it's really THAT hard. lol!
at least you don't look like an ogre
(see my entry)
@Binakwan - gee Blanche Deveraux, now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
@Renatojr3 - I think I need to spend days in a gym.
matty, matty, matty... you poor thing.
