Another fun weekend
During the weekend, my bf cooked another big dinner and some of his extended family were there. The food was great – especially the crab with ginger, green onions in satay sauce. The crab meat was very sweet. There was also an abalone and mushroom dish that he made that was very interesting. I was half way through dinner before I realized I didn’t even take any pictures. Sometimes the tummy is more powerful than the brain.
My bf also invited one of our friends over for dinner too. He’s one of these jock types and is really a kid at heart. He’s also had fun playing with the kids as well. He’s so easy going with kids and they just take an instant liking to him. It was good to see him again and he also enjoys my bf’s cooking. In fact my bf taught him how to cook lobsters, crab (I just can’t kill those things) and congee.
The kids, of course, were fun to play with. I think I had more fun watching them than playing with them. I was sitting on the floor when the youngest one sat on my lap and leaned back on me as if I was a chair and watched TV. That was neat actually. Whenever he sees me, it takes him a while to remember who I am. When he first came in, he just stared at me. His mom kept asking him if he remembered me. He smiled a bit and then gave me his gloves, hat and jacket for me to hang up before he went to play. I just laughed - what else can you do?
I know I write about kids a lot. Of course, I don't see them when they are cranky, sick, misbehaving and all those other things that kids do to drive their parents nuts. When I see them it's like watching the sports highlights. I'm not sure how I would do if I had to discipline children or to rein in my temper if they get on my nerves after a long day. But for now, these little highlight moments are very enjoyable.

I was baby sitting my nephew and gave him a can of Pepsi, next thing I knew he was jumping around on the sofas....kids + sugar rush = trouble!
Gosh, who cares about kids! I would never blog about such a thing!
LOL
I can't imagine myself with kids nowadays...
I think I was 20 when I really wanted a younger brother
I feel like I grew up as an only child and I don't know how to get along with children.
I am envious of those who kids take an instant liking with
You have a temper? =O
@Wangium - Interesting. Tawn's an only child, too. He seems to get along okay with children, though. My older niece pronounced that Tawn is her best friend. Not sure where that leaves me... =(
I enjoy playing with kids also. Glad we can give them back to their parents after the parties,
I agree with Gary, sugar + kids = crazily hyperactive,
Kids are to be given back to their parents when they get sick, bored or cause trouble lolol.
hahaha so you are one of those people who like to borrow other people's kids to have fun and give them back afterwards for all the messy stuff
well, i can't say i blame you...
@curry69curry - just give them sugar before you leave or hand them back to the parents.
@CareyGLY - lol... yeah right!
@Wangium - yeah, my friend must have hung out with kids a lot. They just seem to gravitate to him.
@christao408 - oh yeah.
@stevew918 - when they become hyperactive you just give them back to the parents (and sneak them more sugar).
@Fatcat723 - @kunhuo42 - I sometimes wonder what it would be like to manage them when they are grumpy, sick, bored etc... maybe that will give me more of a taste of being a parent.
I've been known to wide my nephews and nieces up and leave them to their parents. I've always enjoyed being an uncle. Now as some of them are having children, it starts all over again. What fun.
be well Matt, enjoy those around you, as I know you do.

You seriously need to adopt.
And me wants some of that crab, green onion and satay sauce dish!!
lol than you should adopt a kid, than you will have a great excitement. When I am going to get invited over to enjoy you guys food ?
@bleuzeus - it is fun being an "uncle" even though I'm not related to them.
@brooklyn2028 - lol... I only have a small condo. If I have a kid, I probably won't have time to write. But there's a part of me that will always want to adopt.
@vsan79 - hahaha... maybe on adoption, it's always been on the back of my mind. I'm not sure if I have the space in my condo (small 1 bedroom) or if I have the financial resources. But I do like kids. After you eat my food, you'll probably be wondering "I flew all the way up there to eat that?" hee hee....
i'm always at awe at those who always feel at ease around kids. i'm one of those who can't stand them and wouldn't have a clue on how to relate to one. each time i find myself sitting beside a kid, i feel the pressure of having to be all lovey-dubby or act big-brother like, that my brain just froze and disengage any flow of thoughts. i just sit there hoping the kid won't start staring at me to get some attention or even worse, start asking questions. i've tried to communicate twith them in the past but they all just seemed to find me so boring that they tend to look for another adult to amuse. hhmm... no wonder my love life sucks.
@rudyhou - my friend just seems to know all the latest TV shows that kids watch and computer games that they plan. It's fun watching him interact with kids - he just turns into a big kid. I'm not at all like that. And there is no correlation between relating to kids and one's love life.
