Crabs, babies and something plump
It’s been crazy at work. We’re a bit short staffed as well which has meant a spike in my workload. It’s been over a week since I’ve written anything. I read a bit of your entries but haven’t really commented or responded to all of them. I probably will go into hibernation again this week from blogging.
My bf made an amazing dish the other day. It was Alaskan King Crab in black bean sauce. It was on sale but still very expensive. I was joking with him to get 2 until I saw the price! It was a bit gruesome watching the guy behind the counter cut it up. I just wished they were a bit quicker. It was very delicious though and there weren’t any leftovers. He had his extended family over to help polish off the food. It was also a good to play with the baby again. He’s being toilet trained so the parents are a bit nervous. When it was time for them to leave, the baby refused to put on his diapers. So his mom asked him to go to the toilet first. He refused to do so. After some stern negotiations from his parents, he agreed to go to the toilet. But he pointed to the one upstairs. I guess he just wanted to stretch out his visit. He won’t let anyone hold his hand on the way up or back down the stairs. It’s just so interesting watching him assert his new found independence.
The other day, my dad and I were having dinner at a restaurant. There was a baby boy that was just learning to walk with his grandmother’s help. Eventually the grandmother put the baby in one of those cloth harnesses on her back. She just held on to the knot on her chest that was holding the baby. I thought the baby might be uncomfortable but he didn’t seem to mind. When she walked by my table, I asked her how old the baby was. She said he was just 10 months old. I smiled at the baby. He just turned away. Grrr….
When my dad went to the washroom, a woman and her baby made their way to the table right beside ours. There were already others eating at that table. I figured she waited at the car until the baby was awake before coming in. She was right in my line of sight and I saw her right profile. Now this may seem like an odd observation. I noticed her breast and it was plump. Of course, I thought to myself, she’s nursing the baby. So yeah – this was probably one of the rare moments when I would notice these things. I wonder if I was straight, would I notice this and in the same context? Thankfully my dad came back, sat down and blocked my view.
Editors note: please excuse Matt – when he is thinking about babies, he just can’t help himself.

haha...you just like babies and kids!!
Sounds like someone's biological clock is ticking.
LOL
Never figured you for a breast man. =P
Interesting stories... I'm not a fan of kids/babies, but they can be cute alright.
lol, that breast thing is something i find awkward, too. since girls don't assume i'm gay.. i am afraid that if i look at their breasts they'll get offended.. thing is, this makes their breasts all the more tempting to look at.
i find it nice to hear a gay guy talk about babies in the manner you do. there's definitely something going on there with you and babies. i'm just happy to hear gay guys not talking about sex and fashion, for once!
The dish sounds delicious =) I guess you are totally ready to be a mom anytime soon!!
@dolphin27 - you got that right!
@CareyGLY - tick tock tick tock...
@christao408 - hahaha - and this is probably the only time I'll write about it.
@mmmagination - the only time I don't find them cute is when their diapers need to be changed.
@stepaside_loser - hahaha - you won't find me talking about fashion on this blog.
@Ratinha - hahaha
The food sounded delicious. I noticed that you do get "distracted" by kids. Maybe it is time to adopt - did I say that!?!?!?
ooh, i love crab with black bean sauce. yum!
matt, i really think you need to get a kid of your own (before you steal someone else's =P ). seriously, you should think about adopting; you'd make a great father.
Good idea to cook king crab legs with black pepper sauce! Lately, I noticed a lot of babies coming out to the restaurants and other places too. The weather is getting warmer lately, that's why everyone is out, I suppose.
Wait, the grandmother is nursing the baby?
@Wangium - no no... I guess I didn't write that clearly. It was another woman who came in with a baby.
@curry69curry - yeah, it was the first time in ages since I've had king crab legs and it was really good.
@kunhuo42 - thanks for your vote of confidence.
@Fatcat723 - hahaha - yes you did.
no food pictures
you are going through a baby phase aren't you? I agree with Aaron, maybe you should think about adopting.
This Matt is a fan of babies & children too. My bf is always telling me to stop staring and pay attention to my own table... I can't help it though.
As busy at it is, I hope your week goes well,

I am actually going to listen to a talk from children with LGBT parents tonight.
(Children as in teens and young adolescents)
Ever thought of adopting?
Anyway, I have been hearing a lot of people being short staffed at work, but it's mostly due to lay offs. Is it the same happening in your company?
A friend of mine who's a supervisor at his department was told to fire 7 people from his 11 people department. He complained to his boss that he doesn't think 5 people (including himself) would be able to take on that much workload at work, and his boss simply told him if he didn't think he could do it, there are other people willing to step up.
Hope the same isn't happening at your work.
P.S. I was reading the comment above, and I don't think you are going through a "baby phase"
I just think you are a loving adult who loves children
@ElusiveWords - my coworker just had a baby this morning, so we went in to visit (perks of working at a hospital). the baby is so cute!
Your blog made me laugh. You are funny Matt. Anyway, I love the way you love the babies and talk about them. That's too cute.
@icebladz - being a parent is a huge responsibility. It's kinda scary.
@bleuzeus - sigh... it's an awesome responsibility and I too have a lot of things on my own table to look after as well.
@Wangium - how was the talk? Maybe you can blog about it. There is that happening at my work although my team is pretty skinny already. Thanks for your second comment.
@ZSA_MD - that's my baby talk.
I was famished when I was listening to the talk, and it's not inducive to information absorption especially during long sessions.
The most important thing I got from the talk was kids really do appreciate and function better if they were told early on they were adopted. They don't mind it so much as long as they know you love them, but they may be curious about their birth parents. Parents who adopted usually don't tell kids out of their own fear that the kids would not want them anymore, and it really isn't about protecting the children.
Anyway, it all comes down to how useful having a support group for kids with LGBT parents is. So if you plan to have a child, get them in the support group. Though I do feel like there is a certain bias, since we are only listening to the well adjusted children who are answering the panel.
I am curious about those who didn't find the group fitting to them and more difficulties they faced.
for a second i thought u had a straight moment. j/k.
i'm on the same boat with u about work. it's been hell so i haven't had much time to blog. sucks, but the job must be done.
Babies...OMG.....Babies..... I can only spend the max of 2 hours with them.....good that there are tons of other people can give them tender loveing care...
hahaha i also wondered can the grandma nurse the baby... =) well kids are cute =) wish i could see things through theirs eyes now again
@Wangium - thanks for the update.
@JonasApproved - a straight moment... hahaha. I hope work will soon ease up for you.
@agmhkg - I guess babies and planes aren't the best mix.
@lcfu - hahaha - you still have a "baby face"
