  • Lazy entry - more pics from my neighborhood

I guess I'm just a bit too lazy (actually busy) to write.  Here are some pictures from my neighborhood.  I took these pictures just as the sun set for the day.

It must be spring.  I saw these guys playing "polo" on the tennis courts.

This apartment building have always caught my eye because of its charm and simple design. It overlooks a park so most of the time, it's fairly quiet.

The next 2 pictures are one of my favorite stretch of stores in this area.  From left, Noce (Italian restaurant), Klaxon Howl (clothing store), Preloved (vintage clothing store), Type (a neat little independent store), The Paper Place & Chippys (fish and chips)

I've skipped a condo but moving along....
The first store is a White Squirrel, Clafouti (in blue) is also in this stretch along with a guitar store, kids clothing store, a vet, a funeral home and a rooming house.  If these stores look familiar, it was used in a TV commercial.

This place sells used sewing machines.  My mom used to have a Singer sewing machine simliar to the black one.  I don't know how many people sew anymore.

My bf and I had breakfast here once.  The special is 4 eggs, bacon / ham / sausage, fries, toast and coffee.  I couldn't move after that.

    Window shopping....

The writing on the window says "Everyone neesds a Shag." .  The store
    is called Green Shag.

    Aren't these little boots adorable?

    More stores...

I thought the name was catchy...

So that was another quick peek at life in my neighborhood.

  • wow, 4 eggs! I don't think that is good for you...

  • What kinds of shop is "The Dog's Bollocks"?

  • @CareyGLY - If you have to ask, you don't want to know.

  • I enjoy viewing neighborhoods and just taking a walk to view the buildings and shops. However, I would have to skip the breakfast.

  • @tomatoboi - yeah I agree.   I had to skip lunch that day.  The eggs were small so it was like 2 or 3 large eggs.

    @CareyGLY -  @christao408 - hahaha - it's a pub!

@Fatcat723 - yeah, we were feeling pretty full that day and skipped lunch.

  • I used one of those sewing machines in middle school...

I don't know why they taught us to use them in Maryland...

  • Cute neighborhood. A lot of people still sew - me! me! me! oh wait! I am a fashion designer!

  • Delicious.  I <3 our neighbourhood!!  When will I bump into you on the street?  Hehe...

  • @Wangium - interesting, I had no idea you knew how to use a sewing machine.

@Dezinerdreams - of course... hahaha.  How could I have missed that?

@brooklyn2028 - well, if you see someone with a camera looking absent minded and wandering around or someone reading / writing in a coffee shop, that might be me.

  • nice snapshots of your area. i think the colours on the shop fronts are pretty. oh, and i finally uploaded a picture for my profile i painted it whilst talking on the phone with john, it was fun.

  • @ElusiveWords - If you see me no the street you better not run away from me!!  HAHAHA!

  • Your neighborhood has such cute shops, I would be very curious to check them out! Any good pastries places?

  • Oh, their pastries are so well decorated...so cute! Now my stomach is growling!

  • your neighborhood looks nice...which part of Toronto are you in if you don't mind me asking.

  • I sew too, on a Singer machine no less. And you know what? I also have an old fashioned treadle singer sewing machine.

Neat pictures matt; oh and I am glad you survived that breakfast. lol

  • i've never seen anyone playing polo on bikes before...  interesting...

my mom still sews, and she taught my sister too.  i can sort of use a sewing machine as well, but i'm nowhere near as proficient as they are.  my mom even makes some clothes for herself and my dad.

  • @icebladz - the area is loosely called West Queen West.  If you use google map and plug in 907 Queen St. West, Toronto, Ontario - that's the address of the White Squirrel Coffee shop.  The stores are in that area just across from the park.

@ZSA_MD - I had to google treadle singer sewing machine to find out what it is.  I remember my mother had one of those when we were in the Philippines.  We used to play with the "pedals".

@kunhuo42 - interesting that you know how to use it.  I don't even know how to turn it on.

  • yup that's what it is. a machine with the pedals. Just don't see them any more. I bought this one of mine in an antique store. love it.

  • i enjoy the pics.  looks like my kind of neighborhood, very artsy and eclectic.  wouldn't mind living there.  i miss that singer sewing machine.  when i was little, my mum used to own one (the one with a metal rocking peddle) and made clothes for us kids at home.

  • I can sew!
The pink and black lyrca bike-polo suit is interesting.
