Police setting an example?
I try to be a good and safe driver. I don't race with other vehicles. I don't cut people off. When people let me merge into their lane, I generally wave my hand to thank them. I usually let others in my lane to keep the flow of traffic too. I've tried hard not to let the idiots of the road get to me as they have done so in the past.
One of the streets I take to the highway has 3 lanes. Just before the entrance to the highway, there's a traffic light. The right lane is always busy and therefore slower as cars try to merge in to line up for the highway. There's a stretch just before the traffic lights where traffic also merges into the right lane from an exit ramp. So there's always cars going in and out of that lane. The sneaky drivers won't use the right lane but rather use the middle lane. Just before the lights, they will cut right in to get to the ramp for the highway. In some cases, it's people who didn't realize you had to be on the right lane. But I'm sure most of the people are just plain lazy.
Imagine my surprise when an Ontario Provincial Police SUV with the big letters "Traffic Safety" cut right in front of me to get to the highway. He was right beside me as we approached the lights and he just cut right in without even signaling. I raised my arms in disgust. He went down the ramp and started to pull into traffic. I noticed that he immediately cut across 2 lanes to get to the left lane. I was pissed off. I started to chase the SUV.
My brain though realized what was happening and shut off the part that controls emotions. I eased off and blended back into the ebb and flow of traffic. But even now, I'm still a bit pissed off at them. But if I do see them again... they will face this:
It's the feather duster that Asian parents used to discipline their unruly kids. With a few well placed whacks to their behind, I'm sure those cops will learn to set a better example next time they drive. I hope the seats in the SUV are extra soft as the feather duster can leave some ugly welts. If you see a driver waving feather duster, that would be me handing out some stiff sentences.

Hahahahah...
Wouldn't they just pull you over for it?
It's disgusting, but police cars pull those stunts sometimes.
I am guessing they are those people who are hungry for power anyway
Gosh, I hope you don't catch up to me...
@Wangium - I'm sure they would lock me up with some 6' 8" 350 lb monster.
@Esbartman - you? really? nah...
I hate how they put on their sirens, as they speed through traffic and run a red light, but once they get to the other side their siren goes off and drives normally! WTH!
Is there a newspaper with "letters to the editor"? You should voice your opinion and let the people know how you feel when government officials abuse their power. But whatever happens, don't, do not go chasing them. They may have a tazer or some such thing on them.
Maybe he is a hurry or emergecy? BTW, almost thought you r into S&M, lol.
Haha... imagining someone driving with that duster and striking unruly drivers is quiet hilarious. Btw, you will have fun time with that here in India where the concept of traffic "order" is non existent.
i can't believe you went chasing a police suv
@osmundaregalis - The father of a friend, who is a police officer, once told me that it is common to respond to some calls like a robbery in progress with siren off, so as to try to surprise the criminals and catch them. Lights and sirens would only be on at an intersection if necessary to safely get through. Can't say if that is true from first-hand experience, but since this guy is a police officer, I'll take him at his word.
I misunderstood and thought you were going to tickle him with the feathers, Matt.
Okay let's give the police the benefit of the doubt but if there was no emergency then he needs to be spanked!!
lol I never got the feather growing up. And I had a cop tailgate me once at 80 mph. There should be police for the police!
hahahaha go matt! you whack those police officers next time they misbehave! it really annoys me also to see police bend the laws because they can get away with it... like police who turn on their sirens just so they can cut across a busy intersection without having to wait for the light to change. on the other hand, they must get annoyed, though, that no matter where they drive everyone always drives at or below the speed limit when they're around!
The police over here tend to be the same: they make their own rules! And I've come across more cocky cops than polite ones.
I'm a polite and sensible driver, too. However, there is this one stretch of road where almost everyone exceeds the speed limit to because it is VERY slow if we don't, and I exceed it by 10km/hr.
And, OMG, a feather duster! My family had the EXACT same thing a few ... no, that was now several years ago. What memories! However, my parents didn't use that as much as they used a thin bamboo stick. Fortunately for me, they stopped disciplining us that way when I reached the teenage years.
I can't believe you got so angry over that. I just don't like it when they turn without signaling. It looks bad to the public.
omg i remember the "gai mo so"...my grandma used to threaten me with it but she never had the heart to use it..lol
@onmovement - "gai mo so"....that's a good one!LOL
Matt, sounds like you're a courteous driver, waving your hand to thank people. Too bab there are no such nice ones in LA.
That chicken feather duster does bring back some nasty memories! *eek*
@osmundaregalis - hahaha... I've seen them do that too.
@ZSA_MD - ok, I promise not to chase the cops... I'll just blog about them.
@stevew918 - nah... he just wanted to butt in front of the lineup. I sentence them to a 20 hour flight strapped beside some guy a body odor problem. As for S&M - moi? Innocent moi?
@Dezinerdreams - hmm... maybe I'll use a cricket bat instead.
@icebladz - uhm.. yeah, for a brief second, that seemed like the right thing to do.
@christao408 - hahahaha... I prefer to inflict pain.
@Fatcat723 - Judge Matt has spoken. hahahaha....
@Rm2046 - tailgating at 80mph? Man... that's scary!
@kunhuo42 - if I ever end up in jail for spanking a policeman, I hope you'll visit (with files in a cake).
@stepaside_loser - after I posted that, I wondered how many people would relate to those feather dusters. hahahaha
@mmmagination - the worse thing is that the SUV had a big "Traffic Safety" sticker on it.
@onmovement - hahaha... I had forgotten the name. I can't believe innocent you would get into trouble.
@curry69curry - you have memories of the gai mo so? I wonder what you did?
@ElusiveWords - Something very naughty of course! *wink*
LOL!!! By the sounds of it, it's a contradiction!
Ha, ha, a feather duster to the boot! Love it!
Wanna give me driving lessons?
@ElusiveWords -
Matt, you're so smart
you've known the answer all along~ haha
@CareyGLY - all I need to do is put a picture of Sarah Palin on your dashboard and voila.... instant road rage! hahahaha
wah, ha.. lol... you know, i've had quite a few whips of that feather
duster when i was little. it's safe to say i was a real brat. i think
all police academies should have one of those as a disciplinary tool.
that'll be no more power abuse on the road.
