  • Lazy entry

    Well... this is mostly pictures.

I took a quick walk at a local park in the early evening.  The sun hadn't set yet and it was just gorgeous.  There were people sitting on the park benches, jogging, playing ball, tossing frisbees, walking their dogs, climbing trees, playing soccer with hockey nets and exercising.  This was the tail end of a fitness class.  There were others who were stretching and about 3 practicing martial arts.  I didn't feel comfortable taking a closer shot.  As it was, a couple at a nearby park bench frowned at me when I took the picture.

I saw something more along my fitness level.  But I didn't have
something to throw so no working out today.   I think they drew
this wrong though.  I don't remember the first 2 squares as being
    adjacent to each other.

    Food pictures...

Steamed oyster with black bean sauce.  I had this at dimsum a few weeks ago.   I can see someone's finger
on the right just about to snatch my food away.

Fresh strawberries from the farmer's market.  I'm lucky that there are 2 of them (albeit small markets) within walking distance from my condo.  These strawberries were very sweet.

Ground pork with bitter melon with black bean sauce.  I used extra garlic, ginger and shallots.  Oh my... if I wasn't watching the amount of rice intake, I could have polished off 2 bowls of rice.

  • I loved seeing these pictures Matt. The strawberries LOOK sweet.

  • Oh they were indeed sweet and juicy.  I'm going to get some more next week.

  • next time, bring something to throw, Matt.  I was trying to imagine you throw something (a bean bag?) and jumped the squares.  That would be quite a sight!

  • I don't understand people who frown on taking picture IN PUBLIC!!!  If you don't want your picture taken, stay home!!!

  • I hated bitter melon as a kid...but now...I still hate it
    Hate, hate, hate...bitter stuff...
    ick

  • Ground pork with bitter melon with black bean sauce is one of my favourite dishes!  My mom makes it all the time, cause we both love it. =)

  • This entry does not really look lazy to me. I know you had a swell time getting all those beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing them.

  • It was so cute you photographed the jumping squares together with the pink rabbits!

I was at the Farmers Market too, and guess what? I bought strawberries and cherries.  They are so sweet and juicy!

  • Strawberries!!! *drool*

  • You need a longer lens:)  That food looks yummy.

  • mmm, i just had oysters tonight delish

  • wow, those strawberries look delectable!  i'll have to pick some up for sure.  i made bitter melon not long ago...   i was highly motivated after seeing all your various photos of bitter melon dishes you made in the past.

  • I really plan on walking around my small town and taking some photos.
Another xangan: Viewtfiul_Justin just did as well. You boys inspire me
to see something close to home.
The food as always makes me drool. :)

  • They were playing Bloor Street Rules for the hopscotch.

  • Nice pics, Matt. The one of the strawberries clearly makes them look tempting.

  • mmm oysters. I prefer them raw but [black bean sauce, basil, fermented back beans] + any shellfish is AMAZING

  • @stevew918 - it would be quite a sight and I'm glad I spared you the agony.

@CareyGLY - hear hear... yeah, it's not like my blog gets millions of hits.

@Wangium - lol... I used to hate it as a kid too.  But it's good for you.  (and of course, anything that is good for you is yucky).

@osmundaregalis - ah... the flavors just seem to go together so well too.  You and your mom have good taste.

@Norcani - you're welcome, glad you liked it.

@curry69curry - I'll be checking your entry later on.  I have to get some more next week.  I don't think we get cherries until later in the summer.

@Dezinerdreams - oh yeah... it was very sweet.

@davidmiya - I just had my 17 to 85mm with me.  I need to get a camera bag to carry my other lens.  What bag do you have?

@alchemystfury - oh - I love oysters too, especially raw with just a bit of lemon and horseradish.

@kunhuo42 - really?  How come you don't post your food pics anymore?  I think the last one was a cake.

@bleuzeus - it's always interesting walking around with a camera.  I find it awkward to take people shots.  I don't want to intrude but at the same time, some of them would have made a good picture.

@christao408 - lol... you still remember some Toronto street names.  I'm impressed.

@zionlover - yeah, they were very good.  I'm picking some up next weekend.

@caihwei - yeah, I prefer oysters raw, splash of lemon and a sprinking of horseradish.  Or just plain.  And yeah - blackbean sauce with shellfish is absolutely mouthwatering.

  • @ElusiveWords - hahaha  because i'm too lazy to take pictures.

  • a lot of times when I take "spy pics", I'm scared that I might get yelled at.

  • @tomatoboi - same here... maybe I need one of those smaller cameras with a longer zoom lens.

  • @ElusiveWords - Not hard to remember street names at all.  Was there many, many times and Tawn and I were there just two years ago.

  • @ElusiveWords - Mmm, I actually just carry one lens with me.. I use a 24-105, which I think is a good range for pretty much everything.  I think carrying two lenses is too much trouble!

  • Hello Matt,
You made your site simple yet elegant. The pictures are a nice touch. I see that you have a wide variety of interests and observations here!
I’m sending an important message to people from Jehovah God that is in the Bible: "...And you will destroy all who have caused destruction on the earth." (Revelation 11:18) (NLT)

  • dude do you exercise at all??? hehe

  • gosh, i haven't played that game hop-in-the-square for such a long time.  i can't even remember what that game officially called or how to actually play it.

  • Oh yes! I love the oysters!!!

  • @mmmagination - I can tell, there are 4 exclamation points in your comment!
