  • Just pictures today...

I did nothing today on my day off.  I would have made a sloth looked energetic.  Well - I did do some laundry but that's about it.  I didn't sleep well last night.  It was 3 AM and I was still going strong.  I got out of bed by 9 as the construction / renovation started at that time in the unit above.  It's going to be like this for another month and a half.

    Nothing but pictures today.

Here are some flowers to brighten up your day.

My orchids are doing remarkably well.  I water them every week and feed them about once a month.
They get the morning sun and that's about it.  This plant just continues to bloom and bloom.

I got these from the local market.  The lady said the weather hasn't been cooperating.  I guess it needs
a few sunny and hot days to sweeten them.  But it was still good.

I found this unusually shaped strawberry at the pint I got from the farmers market too. It's almost 3
strawberries in one.  Despite the odd shape, it was pretty sweet.

Apple pie (also from the farmers market) and ice cream.  I got this for my dad.  It's his favorite dessert.

  • A day off can usually mean an extra day of rest. So maybe you were doing the right thing. I hope you're still able to catch up on some sleep though. Thanks for posting those pics. They are always beautiful and can brighten any day.

  • You must have a real green thumb to keep orchids alive!  I can't even keep silk plants alive!

  • Nice orchids! I'd be unable to keep them alive for more than a week!
BTW I agree that renovations in nearby apartments are a pain.  It's not just the noise but also the dust (I've gone through three of those in my building and it's a never ending battle against the dust).
Finally, the cherries here in fruit carts in NYC have been a bit too ripe to buy more than a handful of them.

  • The pictures really made my day. Colors really make for a wonderful world. Thanks for sharing.

  • The orchids are so pretty! Also, I love the cherry shot.

  • That strawberry is a MUTANT!
Keep on a lookout to see if you gained any super power! =P
Those orchids are lovely! Mine died soon after the flowers are gone.
Hope you will sleep better soon! ^^

  • The colours are dazzling.

  • @zionlover - you're so generous with your comments (keep 'em coming.)    But thank you - appreciate it.  I did catch up with my sleep last night too.

@CareyGLY - Oh Carey, you're exaggerating.  You look after so many hotel guest, kids, dogs... I'm sure flowers aren't a challenge for you.

@TheLatinObserver - thankfully there's no dust from the renovation (except from the streets).  I guess that's the price for living in the heart of the city.  But I'm looking for an air purifier to help reduce the dust inside my unit.

@Norcani - thank you - I'm glad it helped brighten up the day.

@ZenPaper - super powers?  Hmm... my procrastination skills seem to have reached new heights!  (or depths depending on your perspective).

    @Soul_U_Shuns - thanks!

  • Great photos!! Berries are in season here - blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries. I make a mean fresh fruit salad!!

  • Oh, the daisies have such wonderful color... I so enjoy your photos.
And I'd take a piece of that pie and some ice cream myself. :)
    Be well ,,

  • I like apple pie!

  • @Fatcat723 - fruit salads are so healthy and great in this heat too.

@bleuzeus -  thank you - the pie was pretty good although I wanted a slightly thicker crust.

@mmmagination - it was yummy!  Mmmm....

  • I wish my dormant orchids would wake up. If they don't in another week or so, I am taking them to the orchid doctor. I love the colors Matt. Very vibrant and pleasing. I know dad will love the apple pie and the ice cream. My favorite too.

  • Your orchids are staying well! What an odd shaped strawberry...makes me think of the 'Siamese twins' scenario!

  • wow, what a strange-looking strawberry.  did it taste three times as good as normal?  hehehe

your orchids are quite beautiful.  i orchid-sat for my friend a few months ago, and it was kind of fun.  i'm thinking of getting some plants to put around the house (if the cat won't attack them)...  maybe an orchid?

  • umm...THAT'S a genetically-modified strawberry if i ever saw one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ZSA_MD - I had to read up on my orchids.  The one I rescued from my dad's place had to be repotted.  I had to use a sterile knife to trim the dead roots out.  I fertlized it about once a month and kept it in a bright (but not direct) sunshine.  My flowers get some sunshine but not a lot.  They also flower if they have a steady diet of cool evenings.  It took almost a year to get that orchid to flower again.

@curry69curry - I think it is one of those Siamese twins strawberries.  It would have been 3 but it never split.

@kunhuo42 - oh yeah... you have to check which plants are cat friendly.  Some plants are poisonous to pets.  The strawberry tasted normal.

@ABSOLUTmichael - well - it's been a few weeks since I ate it.  No side effects yet.  Hmm....

  • Oh man, that apple pie + ice cream looks really good. I'm getting hungry just by looking at it.

  • great shots.  the red cherries look very appetizingly fresh.

  • @kachino - I wish the crust on the pie was a bit thicker but other than that, it was pretty good.

@rudyhou - the cherries weren't as sweet as I had hoped.  I think we haven't had enough hot days yet.  But they were very juicy.
