  • Drivers Education & Sex Education

I was driving home from dinner with my dad on Sunday.  He ate as if he just came out of prison.  I didn't even have to spoon any food onto his plate.  As we were driving home, he was chatting about how full he was and the upcoming visit from his brother.  I merged onto the highway ramp.  It was one of those long sweeping ramps with a gentle curve.  There was a car in front of us and I kept my usual distance.  I noticed that the passenger had his arms draped across the back of the driver's seat.  I couldn't really see the passenger except for the arm.  The driver looked to be female although I wasn't really paying attention.

Suddenly the passenger's head appeared from the driver's side.  Their car sped up a bit.  Then the passenger's head went down on the driver's side but not before planting a kiss on the driver's cheek.  The car slowed down a bit.  Hmm....   When we got to the main highway, I wanted to pass the car.  But they kept pace with me.  Each time the passenger's head disappeared, the brake lights would come on.    Eventually the highway got busier.  They must have stopped their fun because their brake lights no longer flashed.  They eventually merged onto another highway.

I don't think my dad ever noticed.  Like most traditional Chinese dads, I didn't get a lecture about the birds and the bees.  I wondered what it would have been like if I was still learning how to drive and this incident happened back then?  Would dad have noticed and wanted me to follow the car?  Maybe he would combine both a driving lecture and the birds and bees talk together.   "Matt - can you just follow the car up there?  I just want to point out a few things here."

  • Ah ... speed thrills? lol  Considering I don't drive 99% of the time (NYC) I doubt I'd have a "passenger" try that with me!

  • Haha...  I have always wondered how it would be!   Alas! I don't know how to drive.

  • that's what tinted windows are for.
40d eh? did you just get one?

  • @TheLatinObserver - I don't think I would try anything like that in a car either.

    @Dezinerdreams - hahaha - you naughty boy!

@caihwei - I got it a year ago but realized I'm not that competent with it.  I need to be a lot more intuitive.  When I see blogs with great pictures (e.g. your blog), I'm blown away and realize I need to do a lot more to improve my skills.

  • hahah oh wow. Yea i never got the whole lecture about the whole birds and the bees from my parents either. I personally would rather not have that conversation though, because it'll just make me think of my parents doing it!

  • aww i was hoping everyone would have a clever pun joke lol

nope, i don't have one lol

oh, i'm glad my parents didn't give me the talk, either. no, i learned through porn and, geewhiz, i was mortified the first time i saw it.

  • Hmm ... are you not adventurous enough to try? or too shy? or too risk averse? hehe

  • @ElusiveWords - i have a 40d too  but only had mine for about 7months. Don't give me too much credit now, I'm still very very amateur

  • I'm glad your dad had such an appetite! Hope he did not have any heartburn afterward!
You know, I would have totally missed that if similar things happened in other cars while I was driving! ha ha ha ha
I will be too absorbed in my audio book for one thing while driving!
As for doing something naughty while in the car, I would never engage with the driver (be that me or another person)... My life is more important. =P  but as for the passenger... that is another blog entry since I can only drive an automatic! *wink*

  • @Rm2046 - oh thank you for that wonderful image you just left!  lol...

@stepaside_loser - lol... I think that's how most guys learned it too.

@TheLatinObserver - safety, prudence, shy, risk averse... yeah... that's me.  I drive standard as well so the gear shift will be in the way.

@ZenPaper - he seemed fine afterwards.  Don't be too absorbed with your audio books - you still have to be mentally engaged while driving.  Hmm...so when are you going to write that entry?

  • Hmm ... given all your disclaimers I'd be more worried once you let go and have some "fun"!  Too much pent up energy! And yeah ... the "stick" would get in the way!

  • what an excitement... haha!

  • All adds to the excite of sex!! No I never did that - we always parked!!

  • Glad your father's appetite was healthy.  I wonder if maybe he did notice what was going on and was too embarrased to say anything!

  • @Fatcat723 - lol... looking forward to an entry about that.

@christao408 - nah, at his age - he just says what's on his mind.

  • LOL!  I saw a similar thing in Montreal except I was walking on the street and there was a car stopped at a light. ;)  I didn't get the birds and bees talk either.

  • @brooklyn2028 - hmm... I don't remember you blogging about this.  lol...

  • HAHAHA. Interesting experience. ;)

  • HAHAHA. Interesting experience. ;)

  • My dad has attempted this talk once before, recently, when my gf came over to visit.  It was sufficiently awkward.

  • LOL.. dman i wish i was there

  • LOL, what a story. Wow, didn't know you were also Chinese.

  • @LyricalJunkie - yeah... I can't figure out why anyone would want to do this on a busy highway.

@davidmiya - you don't mean he gave this talk while your gf was there ... do you?  nah.

@MadaMadaDan3 - I have a funny feeling you would have sped up and pulled along side.

@kachino - yeah - crazy stuff on our highways.  Yep, I'm Chinese Canadian.

  • hm........what kind of education did they learn from school or family for doing this.....oh well...maybe I'm too Old School.......lol

  • I would have had my camera out the window :)

  • I would have tried to get a better view...with my camera!

  • Btw thanks for the compliments!

  • LOL @ that car braking and stuff. They might be having too much fun in the car. So bad.
