I just got back from a workout at the modest gym in my condo. I've been trying to return to a decent shape - when I played squash several times a week and would run a couple of times a week. I visit my doctor regularly and she would raise her eyebrows at every excuse I have.
"But doctor - working out gets in the way of my blogging. I'm a serious blogger!"
"I'm a chef... how can I possibly keep slim?"
"I watch porn everyday, isn't that a good workout?"
Ok... I never used any of those excuses.
But it was good to be running again, even if it's on a threadmill. I've forgotten how the steady rhythm can clear your mind. It felt good to sweat. That momentary feeling of physical exhaustion, the grunting, the imagery of a furnace slowly burning away fat cells - how satisfying. As I finished showering, I turned it down to as cold as I dared. I let out a quiet scream as the cold water cooled my body down.
When I got out, I looked at the mirror. Well, I'm not there yet. I asked the mirror on the wall.
"Mirror, mirror on the wall, will I ever look like Rain?"The mirror opened his eyes and looked at me from head to toe.
"You know the ol' saying, no pain, no gain.
But Mattie, you'll never be like Rain"I made a mental note to replace the mirror when I get around to renovating the bathroom.

hahah! yeah, time to get a new mirror! you can draw in all the abs and pecs you need.
rain looks amazing, but that's the guy's job! if that's all you had to do, i'm sure you could blow him out of the water. go matt!
That is absolutely darling Matt. I have been hitting the floors and doing my own bit, and have lost about 11 lbs. Yay. I need to lose about 10 more. I should just stop making these desserts and all the rich food.
Continue your workouts though.
I have become such a slouch in the past few months.
Now that I am home visiting my folks, it's even worse! I eat so much and don't move my body even the tiniest.
I need to get back into shape too, thanks for the post!
wow...you watch porn every day?
I think in "gay meccas" going to the gym is seen as almost mandatory (I'm a major law breaker!)
@onmovement - Oh gosh, I have to respond to your comment first - lol. Oh no, read the next line. *blush*
HAHA...I am going to think of this every time Im at the gym now...thanks!
Matt, you motivated me to go to the gym!
BUT I hate the sweat, and the furnace feeling!
Lucky I have banished any mirrors in my realm =P
especially those magical ones.
It took me 2 years of non-activity to collect all those fat,
I wonder how long it will take for me to get rid of them. =P
I watched porn ALMOST every day and trust me, it is not enough workout =P
I'm honestly surprised you mentioned Rain!
I don't know you are a Rain kinda person =P
@dynamiqvision - lol... I think I'll just huff and puff, but I'm unlikely to blow anyone out of the water. But you made me smile with your comment.
@ZSA_MD - stop making those rich food and desserts? Oh good lord, what's gotten into your head?
But you have a slight advantage over me with your workouts. You get to chase the kids around.
@Dezinerdreams - after all that trekking you did and you're a sloth? Nah... that's kinda hard to believe.
@curry69curry - you look just fine. *scratches head*
@TheLatinObserver - hahahaha - I suspect you're in good company.
@macphoto - lol... I'm glad someone found this inspiring. Just don't giggle when you're working out.
@ZenPaper - ai ya... sometimes you're a bit too honest. hahahaha.... I'm not really a Rain person but he is very good to look at. He has a new movie coming out in 4Q (Ninja Assassins). I think with the right diet, exercise & sleep, you should start seeing results in 1 to 2 months.
@onmovement - read Evan's comment. lol..
after a long day at work i've managed to tap into my arsenal of excuses of why not to go running tonight then lo and behold i get home and see your post. thanks for the kick in the rear to get up and get out. =)
I need to go workout at the gym more myself. All I've been doing really is play tennis
@piyapong - lol... I hope your excuses aren't the same as mine. Well, I'm glad the post helped.
@Roadlesstaken - uhm... you look to be in pretty good shape.
@ElusiveWords - ehhh, I'm okay. I could stand to get a flatter stomach haha
@ElusiveWords - everything except the serious blogger part. haha.
Matt, if I had to choose between having you look like Rain and you having time to blog, I'd take the second one, thanks.
@christao408 - LOL!!! *choking back tears and laughter*
@ElusiveWords - Don't make me send you a virtual heimlich maneuver.
@christao408 - hee hee hee I have to google it to know what that virtual thing you were about to send Matt! ha ha ha ha ha ha Serve him right! Now Blog! >=]
I don't like going to the gym either and in my mind I think that it is difficult. But in the past few months, it wasn't as bad as I thought. Oh. That guy is so hot! That body reminds me of my ex-bf, hahaha. Just hairless, abs, pecs. *sigh* I want something similar.
@mmmagination - it can take me up to 20 mins to convince myself to go to the gym (and it's just upstairs!). Yeah, that guy is hot.
You had me at Rain! Hahaha!! Seriously though, good on you for working out...I haven't been working out recently and I'm feeling super lathargic!
@brooklyn2028 - I think you're still in better shape than I am.
You are right. They keep me fit.
Dear Matt:
This is an impressive film--you went under an Asssumed Name, and showed us how hard you work on your exercise. Gosh, you're light years (no, millennia of light years) ahead of me....how do you do it?
The Clark Kent of Toronto...goes under Matt, but actually is a lithe, muscular, incredibly arousing athelete with the name of Rain....wow, we've figured you out.
(tee hee...)
Now seriously, just keep going to the gym in the condo....10 minutes, how about 10 minutes 3 times a week?
More seriously, thanks for your comments at LJ. Always a blessing to read your comments, and your notes here.
(...have your boyfriend tell us how far his arms overlap when he wraps himself around you at the waist.....tee hee....)

Watching porn as a single act isn't where the workout comes from.....
I too have lofty goals, but know in my heart the body of rain will never be mine unless he shows up on my doorstep. I have been running but just last night visited the gym again for the first time in months. It felt good to be lifting and today my body has been whispering things too me, such as: "hey, remember what you did last night. You're gonna pay today." But I'm still happy to get started again.
best of luck Matt as you see those changes you wish to make.
*~matthew~*
From your profile picture, admittedly your berth is wide, but other then that, you look good.
I actually prefer the old Rain to the ripped Rain.
And by the way, if it makes you feel any better, he hasn't kept up the regimen either:

@mbpasadena - hey Mark... thanks for dropping by. I think my bf will be have fun reading your comment. I can just hear his laughter. Thanks for the encouragement. I hope to visit the gym more frequently now than the coffee shop(s).
@secade - hahahaha....
@bleuzeus - it does feel good to run. I think it helps my creativity - maybe yours too?
@CareyGLY - hahahaha... I'm sure those are just muscles in tight fitting clothes. He can't be that "chunky". Maybe I need to go on the Hotel Careyfornia diet.
LOL, yeah right! I'm pretty sure you've used those excuses before
.
I'm currently working out by doing some strength training and playing tennis and soccer as often as possible. Best of luck in your quest to look like that guy in the video
