  • GI Joe gets the boot

I'm behind in commenting on your blogs ... bear with me.
I watched GI Joe last night with my bf.  This is one of those movies where you can leave your brain at home.  There was only 1 minute of a scene that was worth watching - Byung-hun Lee who played Storm Shadow.  He should have taken those samurai swords and used them against the producers, writers & directors.  They are the real bad guys - not Cobra.

We also watched My Football Summer - a Taiwanese documentary.  (note:  if you haven't seen the movie, don't read the link, it gives the ending away).  It's one of these heartwarming and poignant documentaries about soccer team at a junior high school in Taiwan.  It's their last year together before they move on to senior high school.  They aren't rich kids and their honesty and sense of brotherhood was touching.  I'd give this movie 8/10 and GI Joe 1/10.

  • GI Joe is that bad huh?! I guess I will stay clear of it.

  • Wanna know some insider info? Last minute, the GI Joe publicist decided to cancel the media preview showing of the movie.  My film critic friend said it was probably because they don't want NEGATIVE reviews of the movie showing up in the media before the movie shows.  My friend said the movie was hastily done before the Hollywood strike perhaps that explains the 1 in your rating.

  • @Dezinerdreams - yep... maybe if someone lent you a copy of a counterfeit DVD.

@ZenPaper - yeah, I read somewhere that they pulled it from the critics.  I guess we thought the trailers looked interesting so let's give it a try.  I hope to see Julie and Julia next.

  • i thought that gi joe would be a craptacular movie when i saw the previews - glad john didn't make me watch it!

yes, the asian guy is eye-candy.

  • The documentary film My Football Summer, is it in English or does it have english subtitles?

  • I'll completely skip GI Joe, thank you.  However, I'll keep an eye out for the second film, in case it manages to open here in Thailand or play in one of our upcoming film festivals.

  • @ZSA_MD - it's in Mandarin but the DVD my bf purchased has English subtitles.

@stepaside_loser - "craptacular" - must be an Aussie slang... hee hee.

@christao408 - I hope so, the editing is probably not that polished but still a heck of a lot better than GI Joe.

  • Mmm... what a nice body!

  • Hahahahaha!  I would not have pegged you as a GI Joe guy. :P   Maybe I'll catch it on dvd or something. :)

  • @mmmagination - hahaha... I see we have the same priorities.

@brooklyn2028 - well, not really.  Sometimes I like watching an action movie but this one was bad.

  • @ElusiveWords - it's one of those made up words, but i've heard it used here and there - prob not that popular lol just a warning incase you come over here.

  • really??  haven't seen it but was actually looking forward to see it.  i did hear similar comment from someone else, though.  guess this one is not worth the visit to the cinema then.  ok, i just have to wait for it to come out on dvd.

  • My Football Summer seems to be more my type of movie..
I wonder if I could locate it around here? :)
    Thanks for the reviews...
    Cheers *~matthew~*

  • @rudyhou - not even on counterfeit dvd's...
