An Apple a Day
So after a few months of waiting for my bank account to fatten up, I finally purchased MacBook Pro (15") last week. I've monitored the link that shows the progress of the shipment (from China to Alaska, Kentucky and now at Buffalo). Would you believe I check the link a few times a day to see if there's any progress? Then it dawned on my yesterday. Once I get it, I'll probably be able to figure out how to turn it on. But how do you turn it off? Sigh... I just wish I have more technical skills. I did get the 1/1 and I know I'll make a lot of use of it. I'll probably pick up a couple of apple for dummies books this weekend.
For the past couple of months, I've just been writing "raw" entries rather than saving them up as drafts. It's been interesting and brought me back to my early days of Xanga. With the impending arrival of my new laptop, I'll continue to use this method but not exclusively. It's always interesting to see what my fingers throw out on the screen. But I like to save some entries that take longer to develop.
In other news, while checking my emails the other day I saw one from Men's Health magazine. I get one of these emails with fitness tips (ha!), fashion tips (ha!), how to attract women tips (huh?)... etc.. This one was "9 Rules for Stronger Erections". Oh great, how did they know that I strap my thing to a Popsicle stick , chopstick, the big 18" cooking chopsticks for support?

Apple is so overrated!
18 inches? I feel bad for your boyfriend, on either end.
We've adjusted to our mac although I still feel that if I need to really get anything done it is easier to go back over to the PC. Glad Santa is bringing your present (all the way from his factory in the North Pole... er, China) early this year.
Yay welcome to the Mac family! Hope you like it. Feel free to ask me if you have questions! And congrats for the purchase!
Yes, welcome to the Mac family
What's this about strapping your member to a stick for support? That sounds a bit awkward. And why would someone need support?
I cannot sing the praises of Mac. I have to use one at work and after three years I still do not like it. I guess I am a PC man.
I like your "raw" posts. Now as to the 18" cooking chopstick?????
wow, you got a mac? i still can't convert... i run software that requires a pc, and i'm not going to be like my fellow grad student who has to run a windows emulation on her mac just to run the required software. some things are just not worth it. i did get a new laptop recently though (or rather, my parents bought it for me and i'll get it when i go home to visit in december -- how's that for bribery!). i'm excited to see my new baby!
@Dezinerdreams - you sound like my "editor".
@secade - sometimes I write the craziest things....
@christao408 - I'm curious, you must carry a laptop with you on your vacations for blogging right?
@yang1815 - there will be many questions. I appreciate the offer.
@arenadi - thank you. Oh, sometimes I just write silly stuff.
@Fatcat723 - uhm... I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that bit with the chopsticks.
@kunhuo42 - yeah, I remember you mentioning that in an earlier comment. So - what laptop did you get?
@ElusiveWords - i got a toshiba t135.
I did that too, tracking it multiple times a day!
Yay for OCD or something...
Don't you work in IT?
@Wangium - why yes I do work in IT. Shhh.... don't tell anyone.
I am going to test our IT guy next time with an Apple laptop when he comes in.
@ElusiveWords - bien sûr!
The only times I've used a Mac was when I was doing desktop publishing and things like that. I think they're great!
you don't have a memory stick Matt? Me, the computer klutz, I have one!!! I save all my entries every week ot two.
Wow, I'd never expect you have been concealing this secret weapon - 18" Chinese cooking chopsticks!
Anyway, I welcome you to the Mac Family and I'm sure you'll find your new toy very user friendly!
I want to get a MAC too b/c it's graphics are stunning!! I am so jealous of you! haha
@leadwoodfolk - oh, it just got here today!
@ZSA_MD - I should do that too!
@CurryPuffy - I really hope it's user friendly (it just got here today!)
@dolphin27 - hahaha - don't be too jealous. I think I'll be stumbling my way around for a while.
Ooooooohhhh!!! Congrats on your new Mac!!! Let us know how you like it! I'm jealous because I am planning to get one next summer.
"Raw" or not,, I always enjoy your entries Matt...
Now, those 18" entries you can give someone else....
Ouch... *~matthew~*
@mmmagination - I'll write about my misadventures soon and you folks can laugh about it. Start saving up for it. If you know students / faculty, see what discounts they can get and maybe they can order one for you. I got it with a corporate discount through my company. It's not a big discount (low single digit), but it's better than nothing.
@bleuzeus - you'll have to ignore some of my crazy entries... soemtimes I have no idea what I'm typing.
