Sleeping Actively
Sleep. I just seem to crave it recently. Although I try to get to bed at a decent time, I often wake up in a zombie like state.
Usually with my hair all disheveled, one of my 3 pillows on the floor, blankets all over the place and I lie diagonally across the bed. Sometimes I lie very close to the edge of the bed. So far I have not fallen off my bed yet. If I'm on the left edge, I have to be careful not to bang my filing cabinet / night stand. I wonder what I was dreaming of? A battle with vampires and were wolves? Perhaps I've been granted my wish and became a warrior. Could that be why I've been craving sleep? My sub conscious is just itching to return to dreamland and continue the epic battles? I have a hunch my foes are the The Predators (from the movie). They would make a formidable and noble foe.
Maybe I'm yoga instructor in my sleep. Yes - that must be it. I must be doing those complex poses with the exotic names. I think my favourite move is "chiropractor's delight". The first movement of the morning inevitably elicits a few cracks from my spine. I certainly don't feel wake up feeling refreshed.
Sometimes I think I'm a hip hop artist - that would explain the drooping pants... well sweat pants to be exact. Nah... I don't look good in baseball caps and I certainly don't rap. Maybe I'm a rock star instead. That could be it. I was in the middle of an incredible performance with a bank of speakers behind me and an adoring crowd in front of me. It would certainly explain why I wake up feeling as if I've been drinking and snorting coke all night.
So I have no idea what my subconscious is doing at night. He seems to have a more exciting life than I do. I just wished he would take it easy sometimes so I can get a nice restful sleep.

Maybe you're a yoga instructor banging one night stand. HAHA
You wear sweat pants to sleep?!
I think I actually get the most restful sleep after I've had a long series of dreams!
I have very active dreams every single night. The last time I had a dreamless sleep was years ago. There was even a time where my dreams were so lucid and real that I wasn't sure if my real life was waking, or if it was the one in my sleep.
I remember being told that we all dream every night but do not necessarily remember the dreams. Some one suggest it was the mind taking a vacation or doing some filing. I can't remember any of my dreams over the past year or so.
@yang1815 - hahaha - I doubt it. I sometimes sleep in sweatpants in the winter because I like my bedroom to be cool. I even leave a crack open in my window. Other times I sleep in other "stuff".
@arenadi - wow, I rarely remember my dreams.
@Fatcat723 - I think my dream self has a better life and probably blogging about it too.
@ElusiveWords - I sleep in no stuff and use a hairdryer to keep myself warm.
Given how you move I'd be afraid to be sleeping next to you! I'd wake up with bruises all over lol
May be your mind was thinking how to word your next blog? or may be your mind want your bf to hold you tight so you do not practice kung fu in your sleep? lol.
Hope you sleep well tonight!
This sounds SO familiar LOL
Well...I guess it's a good thing you don't sleep in the same bed as your boyfriend...
Otherwise the domestic violence police would be knocking on the door...
@yang1815 - Uhm... ah... I don't really know what to say. Maybe Chris can provide a better response. hahaha
@TheLatinObserver - maybe not bruises but you certainly won't get a restful sleep.
@stevew918 - I think he would prefer that I sleep on the couch instead.
@DiaryOfAPsychopath - you too?
@Wangium - if they do knock on my door, I hope I don't wake up in full warrior mode.
Hope you feel better! Sleep is a very complex thing and quantity doesn't always equal quality.
Dreams are the talk of the town lately, it seems, haha.
I imagine that you dream yourself as a cowboy. I don't know why, but I believe such strongly.
@apocatim - that is so true. I wish it wasn't though.
@secade - I think the last time I was 7 years old the last time I was on a horse (pony?).
Just be grateful you don't dream of Freddy Kruger..lol. Hope you sleep well soon.
@zionlover - uhm.. thank you. hahaha - maybe my back will be itchy and he will be kind enough to scratch it for me. "Just a bit more to the left Freddie..."
I worry about you Matt. Need a new mattress? Warm milk before bed? Stretches beforehand.
elusive words does sound like a nice title to a rap album...=P
@christao408 - I'm not sure... sometimes I'm so tired that I can't sleep. It sounds odd. I think it's stress more than anything else.
@onmovement - hahahaha... I can't sing. What makes you think I can rap? But that made me laugh.
@ElusiveWords - Hmm... Tawn doesn't deal very well with stress, either. I always wish there was some way I could help him learn to deal with it better but that's a lesson best learned from someone other than your husband.
@onmovement - Mat-T and the Elusive Words. LOL
I fell out of bed a couple of years ago! It sucked!
Merry Christmas!
May be you are not relaxing before you go to sleep. If you are playing your video games, or watching some action movies etc on the tv, that could keep your brain wired may be, and so you act those things out.Perhaps you should do some yoga, BEFORE YOU GO TO BED, or at least meditate!!
Yeah, but I have a sleep disorder... have you been to a sleep specialist or anything?
hahaha when i'm the only one in the bed, i wake up lying diagonally in bed often too! luckily i don't keep that up when my bf's in bed with me. sounds like you are a very active sleeper!
I am a sucker for sleep. I go to sleep at the oddest hours and wake up at an even odder time. But, I am glad to know that I have company when it comes to the legendary battles that I fight in my sleep.
I totally understand you feeling! I am the same too... never waking up refreshed!
As for my profile picture, it was taken when the Olympic torch relay went to Markham. I was fortunate enough to ask a torch bearer who just finished running if I could hold his torch and take a picture with it~ It was so nice to be able to hold it even though the sacred flame's not there! =]
Ooh all of your active sleep might be from stress. I hope you're not "working" in your sleep haha. I have a friend who had dreams of him doing work and woke up feeling like it was the end of the day from work lol
My sleep lately isn't restful. I don't get enough, this I know.
And what I do get, doesn't seem to reach the depth that I require.
So, baggy eyed I start most days..... ugh.
It certainly makes every morning feel like Monday.
be well,
*~matthew~*
I started taking Wellbutrin a couple months ago. Best sleep I've ever had!
@christao408 - I do the warm milk routine too. It's not so much as getting to sleep (although that can be a problem), it's getting a quality sleep.
@CareyGLY - so far I've not fallen from my bed and thankfully it's not as high as yours. hee hee...
@ZSA_MD - no video games for me... I'm too uncoordinated. The meditating is something I haven't tried - will do that tonight.
@DiaryOfAPsychopath - I haven't been to a specialist. I will keep this in the back of my mind if I continue my restless sleep.
@kunhuo42 - you too? Wow... I thought the running helps. Or maybe you're doing a cross country run in your sleep.
@Dezinerdreams - you better not be sleeping when I go to battle!
@tomatoboi - I sometimes need a couple of cups of coffee first thing in the morning to get me going. I guess we're in the same boat.
@Rm2046 - oh wow... I don't think I'm like your friend. Most of the time, I don't remember my dreams.
@bleuzeus - yeah, I have that hound dog baggy eye look in the morning too. Ugh...
@upandoutward - my doctor did give me some pills months ago but I am always nervous about taking them.
i like sleep
I sleep like a rock. I swear, I don't really move at all!
I think you need to find something that can relax your mind before going to bed. Recently I've taken to listening to my monk on my iPhone and he calms me right down.
have you ever considered that you are actually a ninja wanna be, whom let yourself loose with your moves when your brain actually in an "off" stage? maybe that's why you don't remember what actually happened.
quite true it may be the side effect of your stress during the day...., I'm sure you will be able to find ways to de-stress yourself... wish you will ahve a good sleep every night.....by the way .....Merry Christmas!
Its hard for me to get sleep these. my wish came true when i had a three day weekend. that was a christmas present for me.
