Me and My Blog
It's always a challenge to come up with something to write about.
Chris has published an entry recently introducing himself to his newer subscribers. Jason has also done the same thing as well. Chris is pretty open about his identity and his life in the Big Mango. I, on the other hand, blog anonymously and have been doing so for the past 5 years. I write openly about a lot of stuff except about my identity. The tidbits you know of me have only leaked out over the past 5 years of writing. I guess I’m Chris’s foil, the “Anti Chris”.
When I started blogging, I had no expectation of communicating with anyone. I had read a few blogs here and there. I chose Xanga only because most of the blogs I read where from this site. I kept a journal when I used to travel. I thought it was an interesting way to gain some insights and to preserve memories. This was simply going to be my electronic journal. No one read my blog when I started it. That was fine with me. Ok - not really. Eventually someone commented, I commented back (remember “ryc” back then?). I think it took over half a year or so before I had a steady following of a handful of people.
In the past 14 months, there were roughly 80 people that subscribed to me. I only interact with about 10 of those subscribers (commenting on each other's blog). I’m always flattered that people subscribe. I'm fine if some of them simply want to read. I am like that as well to some of the blogs I subscribe to. I don't subscribe to a lot of my subscribers simply because we all have different tastes, likes and interests. A lot of the folks I subscribe to don't subscribe to me as well.
If you've always wanted to drop a comment but was feeling hesitant - take your time. It's a pretty friendly and inclusive gang here. There are regular and a few semi regulars. I'm always grateful that a lot of you are very supportive and gracious.
As for who I am, well - I'm just an average kinda guy who dreams about being a writer, likes to play in the kitchen and appreciates photography. Some of you are also curious what I look like. I look like a Chinese Charlie Brown.

A Chinese Charlie Brown?! I want to see!
me too coz you never posted your face pic.
btw, i kinda miss the food entries. where have they gone?
@Roadlesstaken - I will have to look for that shirt he always wears.
@Renatojr3 - see my previous entry for a food entry. The rest of the food entries are in my tummy.
No self expose?
I was expecting all the juicy details!
Hmm so do you look sort of like the Charlie Brown in my profile? hehe
you did? yey! next time i'll go directly to your site and not through my dashboard.
@TheLatinObserver - except I have black hair. There's no juicy stuff here... this blog is rated "boring".
@ElusiveWords - I know ... just teasing haha. I'm glad you are not bald like Charlie Brown! But where's Snoopy?
As a newcomer I found it very interesting reading how you got started and how you interact with other bloggers. I think it's nice to know at least some of your writings are being read and having even a handful of 2 way subscriptions helps to make you feel part of the community.
Thanks for sharing this - and for being one of my subscribers.
Wondered what RYC was - till I looked at the Minis. Thought I'd give you a bit of nostalgia .
I send you that shirt Charlie Brown always wears!
I actually have one!
@TheLatinObserver - hee hee... no Snoopy but I am losing hair.
@Chatamanda - that's how we responded to comments back then "Regarding Your Comment" and we would enter it in the person's site. It was a bit of a pain going back and forth. I had someone who guided me through writing in general and some tips on blogging. But a lot of what I learned was pretty well self taught. I think it's the same with a lot of folks. That's why I'm glad you started the blogring.
@Wangium - no way... you gotta take a picture of yourself in it!
You're the anti-me? Interesting. So should I be surprised or not surprised that we get along well?
@christao408 - you must be the anti-Matter. We cannot co-exist in the same universe or something like that.
ur blog always fun to read. where is the average guy are you implying ?
Does that mean you have a round head and round body, like Charlie Brown? Just curous!
I will send you one

The feeling is mutual. I, too, blog without any intention of disclosing my real identity. However, for those who personally know me, somehow they feel I have already bared enough of myself, which I know I haven't. Like you, I let my readers leave their comment at will....in their own precious time. Thanks for sharing this.
Chinese Charlie Brown? I somehow just can't picture that!
I think I've been following you for a little over 2 years now... and you're one of my favorite bloggers.
I just like the way you handle your blog....just keep your identity a secret, it' more fun to let other to imagine.....
I do not post a picture of me on my blog either. Certainly I am curious about your physical appearance as I am about anyone who is a friend. However, I am more interested in the inner person. That is what I try to share here and what I look to find in those blogs on which I comment. Take care, Chinese Charlie Brown
Ah come on where are the pics?

hahaha i remember the days of "ryc"... it was difficult to keep track of a conversation which inevitably ended up being spread across a number of entries if the conversation was of any length.
so you are still being mysterious matt! one of these days you'll have to reveal yourself!
Now the important question is do you have the Charlie Brown sweater?
your blog is not boring!!! you have so many subscribers to prove it! =)
You are so self-depricating. Preeze stop lol
Hunh unh!! You told me you looked like Thomas the Tank engine!!
I love reading your blogs Matt.
you must be popular on Halloween. I once saw a group of people who dressed up in Charlie Brown costumes. They were a hit. Perhaps I'll post it.
hi matt
In one way I liked the days of RYC better because it got people to get to each others blogs. But I remember I wanted Xanga to be LJ style where all comments were on one page, so you could follow comment threads. This new way is good because it makes it easier for me to track and reply to comments; whereas in the old days it would take me forever to click through and open people's blogs, read their post, comment and then RYC. It was crazy back then.
Chinese Charlie Brown...hmmm...now let me picture that. xD
@vsan79 - the average guy is right here... hahaha. Seriously, I'm just like any other guy.
@CurryPuffy - definitely a big round head.
@Wangium - wah hahahaha omg - these shirts actually exist!
@Norcani - you're welcome. As always, thank you for dropping by.
@Dezinerdreams - just close your eyes and imagine really hard...
Thank you for the compliment.
@agmhkg - I got flak from a couple of folks once but that was a long time ago.
@Fatcat723 - thanks Rob, it's always good to hear from you.
@yang1815 - somewhere in there is a picture of me.
@kunhuo42 - yes - mysterious but that wasn't my original intent. I do remember you posting pictures of yourself a long time ago. I'm even careful when I take pictures of store windows. I check to see if my reflection is captured. Silly... I know.
@TheCheshireGrins - see Jason's comment. I had no idea those things actually exist!
@onmovement - it's kinda strange sometimes. I wonder why people would read my stuff - others (like you) seem to have a more exciting life. I'd be scared stiff if I had to be on stage singing.
@secade - ok... I'll stop. I'm the King of the World!
@ZSA_MD - I do look like Thomas on days when I'm feeling kinda blue.
@alchemystfury - really? that must be a hoot!
@ABSOLUTmichael - Michael.... where have you been?
@arenadi - I wonder if that contributed to the "traffic" as people would be bouncing back and forth between sites.
@oxyGENE_08 - ^ ^ ... hope it doesn't freak you out! Thanks for dropping by.
Hey stop stealing my identity! People called me Chinese Charlie Brown when I was a kid.
And I repeat, if you ever see me in the hood again, you better say 'hi' or I'll be angry!
@brooklyn2028 - huh? why did they call you that? By the way, do you actually live in the 'hood? I don't see you at any of the places when I'm out and about (well, not lately because I've been busy. I even shop at the Metro / Dominion every so often.
HAHA...you are def one of my faves matt....even if it takes me forever to get here. And the whole secret identity thing...lets us all practice the art of vivid imagination. lol. Hugs. Thanks for being a friend.
@ElusiveWords - I do live in the hood! I live VERY close to the Metro.
They called me Charlie Brown when I was a kid because I had a big round head.
@macphoto - I look like a close up from a wide angle lens. Thank you for being a friend too.
@brooklyn2028 - hahaha - I remember where you live (you had an entry about it a long, long time ago when it was still a hole in the ground).
@ElusiveWords - awe...you must be cute
@ElusiveWords - I read your response in Charlie Brown's voice and it was pretty hilarious.
@ElusiveWords - hm...got flak?...tat's not very nice....
The Chinese Charlie Brown!
Keep on blogging!
lol well you write pretty well how can fufu miss out such a nice blog? though he only comes back to xanga once a while =p Charlie Brown?? hohoho cute
