Time Goes By So Slowly…
It’s been a very long week at work. I had to work a bit today and will do the same tomorrow. The days just blur and blend together. And it all repeats again on Monday. I’m exhausted and sleep doesn’t help. On Thursday night, I was so tired that I couldn’t sleep. It’s the oddest thing to say. Your body is tired but I guess the adrenalin is still going.
On top of the long hours, the axe man came by at work and a few heads rolled. I managed to duck. It’s a tough first quarter. At this rate I may be asked to work the streets to bring in additional revenue. That would not be a pretty sight.
It’s been frustrating not to write this past week. I hope to get something going on the writing front.
If I haven’t commented on your blog – I hope you’ll understand.

hope things become less stressful you and you get the rest you need.
Hugs Matt. Hope it gets better for you…and you rest.
Fellow Matthew, I hope Sunday also brings to you some fun and some peace and rest.
You deserve all of them. Be well

That can be so stressful. Hope economy will turn around soon! Get some rest.
Yikes, your work environment sounds so stressful and demanding. I hope your job gives you something back in return – after all, what’s the point if it doesn’t? I’m getting a bit cynical about work right now.
Take some Matt Time whenever you can. I feel your friends will be here whenever you have some time. Hey, this post lets us know you are alive and ducking the ax!
Really glad that you managed to duck! Try and relax a bit please.
Ugh … sorry to hear. The worst type of fatigue is chronic … sort of working continuously, for long hours and not having a day. Based on my experience I’d say it might help more to work longer on Saturday or Sunday and take the other day off to just be able to turn the switch off for a day.
we’re all with you in spirit, matt, sincerely. Take care, and return when you’ve really got enough energy to spare. Health and sanity before Xanga.
hahaha work the streets? hopefully not! hang in there! i’ve had nights like that too, and knowing that you have to get up early and be rested just makes it worse. maybe you should try squeeze in some exercise; it definitely helps my state of mind.
Eeeks glad you didn’t get canned.
Geez, I know how you feel, Matt. It’s pretty much similar here, since there have been so many banks closed by the government, and are always on a Friday. A few of my co-workers also get canned too (on Fridays as well!). So, I hope things will look up for us in the coming year!
Things are pretty busy for you…
Mine too. I haven’t been this busy at work, ever.
Hope you got a little time to relax today!
oh gosh…that’s exactly what’s been happening with me too…in fact, the axe man is probably due to visit anytime now…hope everything goes well!
Sorry to hear things are tough going for you right now and hope things will improve soon.
Oh of course. Hope you keep avoiding that axe man!
You poor thing – I hope the pace lets up soon. You need your rest!
Just take your time. Xanga is here to stay. Everything can wait.
@sonychak - thanks, I hope so too.
@macphoto - well, I hope the worst it over. There were 3 rounds last year so I have a feeling there’s more to come.
@bleuzeus - I’m trying to shake off a cold today. But it looks very nice outside so I may get some fresh air.
@stevew918 - a couple of years ago, we were trying to be selective in what business we take in. Now – we’re just like a horny dog in heat.
@stepaside_loser - my job provides me with a decent income. But I don’t necessarily tie my self worth to $ or to my job. I’ve learned not to take things personally with my job. It’s too early for you to feel cynical about your job. Think of your current position and maybe the next few positions as stepping stones in establishing yourself.
@Fatcat723 - I’ve become adept at ducking that axe! I suppose that’s a good skill to have.
@Dezinerdreams - I’m taking today off to recover from a cold.
@TheLatinObserver - I’m taking a sick day today to shake off my cold. Ugh…
@secade - I have a long way to catch up on my writing. I see quite a few folks have joined the blog ring!
@kunhuo42 - yes Aaron, I should try and squeeze in some exercise. It’s usually the first thing I throw out the door when workload increases.
@yang1815 - same here Andy, I still have lots of debt to pay off.
@CurryPuffy - Gary are you in banking / mortgage industry? That’s a tough one to be in right now. Our company lets go of folks during the week and never on a Friday. They don’t like having folks stew through the weekend with lots of questions on insurance, pension etc… but no one to answer them.
@Roadlesstaken -
@Wangium - you hang in there Jason.
@TheCheshireGrins - a cookie sounds good. I’m off sick today trying to shake this cold. Maybe I’ll make some muffins later on.
@onmovement - I hope things are going to be ok for you. Do take care.
@Chatamanda - thank you, I hope the pressures will ease up as well.
@Roadlesstaken - it’s like a game now of hide and seek with that axe man. He missed me 3 x last year and once this year.
@christao408 - I do need rest and exercise. I have to get some cold medicine later on so it’ll be a good chance to get some fresh air.
@Norcani - thank you, I should focus on my well being first.
Sounds stressful and I hope the rest of the week goes by smoother.
the title instantly made me think of madonna’s song. i really thought you were going to say something about it.
@ElusiveWords - thanks matt. i will try to remember your words. i’ve had the third serious talk with my manager today about me not exactly understanding how to do things. it’s scary that i find myself in this position, but i know that this can be taken as clear advice on how to improve and, like you said, be a stepping stone to something better in future. cheers
@styx_site - hi… your entry is still giving me the chuckles. I hope the week will be smoother too. Thank you for dropping by.
@rudyhou - I actually had Hung Up playing in the background as I was writing this entry. You are perceptive.
i was right on? yay!
Awww… you made it through another round. But do you still want to stay?
@mmmagination - great question and one that I’m pondering myself. There are advantages (decent pay, I know enough folks to get around, etc…). If I change jobs, it’ll likely be in a different field than IT. It’s something I’ll always ask myself. At some point, it’ll be time for me to move on to do something else.
