An evening with my chores
It's raining hard right now. The branches are dancing wildly with the wind. The wet leaves are glistening and reflecting the street lights. I can hear the rain tapping frantically on my window. I peek out my blinds and watch them leave drops of light all over my windows. The rain seems to have hushed the usual street noise. Even the usual wail from the sirens now sound more distant. I like these quiet Friday nights. It's just me and my thoughts.
I guess I'll be doing laundry soon. With the new off peak hours for hydro, it's cheaper to do this after 9PM. It's a bit of a pain though. I can't get some of these chores done whenever I want to unless I pay more for it. That means if I work from home during the day, I'll pay more for the electricity. Oh well... I guess it's just me, my thoughts and the laundry bin.
Hmm... I forgot to clear the sink earlier. It looks like the dishes are joining me tonight as well. So much for that quiet evening of solitude.

sounds like you have a lot of chatter in your house... hope the floor boards aren't squeeking...
@tsotofu - they do creak and squeak - HAHAHAHA. It's actually a condo but I have hardwood floors.
hmm....I think that rain would make me sleepy
@macphoto - same here... I've got some classical music playing in the background too!
Where's the boyfriend? You guys never get together on Friday nights?
@christao408 - sometimes we do. It's a bit of a long drive for him from work and then back home. I'm seeing him tomorrow.
I liked the way you described the rain Matt. You have such romance in the words you write.
Send that rain here!
Friday night - rainy night - actually sounds kinda restful.
@ZSA_MD - thank you, I think the rain does that to me. It's kinda magical.
@TheCheshireGrins - hahaha... it stopped sometime in the middle of the night.
@Fatcat723 - yeah, it is. I love rainy nights - I sleep a lot better.
I remember listening to the song "Listen to the falling rain" one time when it was raining very hard. It was an interesting feeling hearing the tapping noises made by the rain too.
i like rain, but only when it's warm outside. then again, it usually inspires me to do some cooking or baking!
It is interesting that hydro is cheaper at night. I wonder if it'll be like that in BC in the future.
@CurryPuffy - I remember that song. I really enjoy the sound of rain. It just drowns out all the usual city noise.
@kunhuo42 - ahh... this one was a cold rain, no fun. I like warm rains - the kind you can shower in.
@mmmagination - I won't be surprised although BC Hydro has a pretty good programs such as Team Power Smart with nice incentives. With 80% of the power from hydro and most of the remaining from geothermal, I think this has forced BC Hydro to be focus on conservation. I think there's some wind too but it's a small amount.
they charge differently depending on the hour? never heard such laundry service before. all i know they charge differently depending on the work, not the hours of operation.
@rudyhou - ooops... sorry. I meant the electric company charges differently for power usage depending on the time of day. Off peak hours (after 9PM) and weekends are cheaper.
It's a nice date with laundry and dishes.
i see i see... guess with the global warming problem, electricity is getting more expensive everywhere.
