  • Another walk around my neighborhood

    This is otherwise known as a lazy entry... all pictures with very few words.
    This is the side of a yoga studio called Downward Dog

    I saw this on another building and thought it was pretty interesting.
    It's a picture of a TTC subway train.  It's off to a side street
    and faces a small parking lot of a bar.  So I'm not sure how many
    people notice this.

    There's quite a few condos in my neighborhood.  This one is very
    convenient if you like pubs.  There's an Irish Pub called The Foggy Dew located
    on the ground floor.  You can just stagger back to your own unit after having
    a few too many.    I don't think I want to live in the units right above the pub though.
    It gets pretty noisy in the summer.  The outdoor patio wraps around the side of the building.

    I've always wondered about the history of these old buildings.  It's all part of the small
    neighborhood called Niagara.  There's a street called Niagara which I believe draws its
    inspiration from Fort Niagara.  If you look closely at the wall, you can see that it's crooked,
    likely due to settling.  This used to be an industrial neighborhood.  I have a hunch these
    houses were built to accommodate the workers.

    The front of the same building.  It's actually nice looking - just needs a fair bit of renovation.

    By contrast - here are some of the newer townhomes in the same area.

    Ok - that's it for this lazy entry... *yawn*.

    I really get annoyed with Xanga's text editor.  I can never get my words and pictures lined up
    properly.  It looks fine on my "main entry" page.

  • I think it actually has to do with the skin that you picked for your xanga page...it has a theme format...you can tweak it...it's not that hard

  • Thanks for the walk around the neighborhood.

  • its nice to see a tour of your hometown...  thanks for sharing...

  • thanks for the comment

    LOVE is...

  • I enjoy your walks around the neighborhood and your comments. I did notice the crooked wall for one of the buildings!

  • i'm sometimes a lazy reader and photo entries are quicker n easier to read and reply too.. architecture is different here.

  • Where are you from again? Looks like a "chill" town.. :)

  • Interesting wall arts, especially that second one which is awesome ! What a contrast between the 2 kinds of homes in the same area and yes I noticed that crooked wall too, I'd be a bit worried about living in that part of the building !

    Not sure I'd want to live in one of those condo units either, though I guess if everyone gathered in the bar below, you'd at least get to know quite a few of your neighbours and other residents. I'd be worried about the 'drunken' activity though in the building at night.
    I wouldn't call this a lazy entry, and even if it was, at least it's an entry. I've not put anything on mine since my 'garden makeover' entries. I don't have that interesting a life !I can't even get pics online, really must see about a digital camera, even a second hand one.

  • I have been to Toronto several times, but somehow did not know about the subway system, hehe.  Maybe give it try when i visit in August?  You ever thought of trying yoga, and blog about it? lol. I was imagining Matty on the matt, hehe.

  • I like those condos, so neat looking. Your entry reminds me I need to do some walking around my 'hood too!

  • @Wangium - it may not be difficult for a lot of people.  But anything that requires some basic computing skills is challenging for me.

    @christao408 - thanks, although I think you do a better job with your tours around Bangkok.

    @tsotofu - you're welcome.

    @luvmei - I will add his books to my list of books to read.

    @Fatcat723 - glad you enjoyed the brief tour.

    @oxyGENE_08 - Toronto!

    @Chatamanda - I think looking for a used camera is a great idea.  Check with friends / family to see if anyone of them have cameras that they don't need anymore.

    @stevew918 - it's a pretty old subway system and needs major upgrades.  Me - yoga?  Oh Steve... hahahaha.

  • Agree with the lining up thing.  It's annoying.

  • I love the subway graffiti! Too cool!

  • ooh. Those last townhouses were pretty.

    Btw Hi,

    D

  • thanks for the tour! feels cool seeing a neighborhood from a different country!

  • I like the art on the brick walls. There's a "Down Dog Yoga" in Bethesda too. I wonder what that means; some kind of position, perhaps?

  • Very nice. I should probably take a stroll around too once in a while. :) Sometimes you find interesting things you never knew was so close to you. Thank you for sharing

  • @yang1815 - I think I need something simple... gonna look for some other themes.

    @TheCheshireGrins - I like that one too.  I always look at it when I walk by.

    @SassWithClass - thank you for dropping by.

    @xXCherrySnowXx - you're welcome.  Where are you from?

    @Senlin - I think it's some sort of position.

    @AzureRecollections - yeah, I pass by these places all the time.  I really have to pay attention to look for something interesting.

  • BTW The Foggy Dew seems like a fun place!

  • Thanks for the tour.  Again, I think you're missing a few pictures of shots you took of yourself.  You should post those.

  • im from the US, when i first saw the pictures, i was thinking they were from somewhere in new york, pretty interesting two different countries but very similar!
