Night Market
J and I checked out the T&T Waterfront Night Market on Friday night. It was an event sponsored by a local supermarket chain. It was jammed, the food was ok - nothing spectacular and the area felt a bit too small and dark. I almost stepped on a large puddle of spilled bbq sauce. There were wires all over which tripped a few folks. The parking lot ($5) across the street was dark but at least there was parking. I wished there were signs to show where the exit was. I was glad that I saw them when I came in.
The were booths selling various foods (including non Asian).
a) Curry beef balls, squid, fish balls...
b) the rice looks interesting here
the booth with the longest line up was selling tsotofu (not Peter, although
I'm sure there would be a line up for him too) or stinky tofu.
I braved the aroma to take this picture.
There was a small stage as well with a small seating area.
Larra Skye and Kevin Zarnett singing a set of Beatles songs.
"Pip" DJ Miss Pip - I thought she was pretty interesting with her
sultry vocals pairing up with some house music.
It was an interesting diversion for a Friday night. It just seemed to be missing something though,
maybe it just felt too manufactured.

That is so cool. I really want to check out Toronto. The only place I've been in Ontario is Niagara. Pretty little town. Pretty pictures. What are those drinks?
I love how things like this is taking off internationally. I am going to one tonight at Oakland
Every now and again one appears here. Here they seem well organized - no wires seen - parking is free. Always good food too.
That caught me off guard... lol!
A street festival would be fun. I could use the distraction.
Great pictures, I love seeing what goes on in the city.
Be well Matt, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

i don't think we have any night markets around here; it looks like it has the potential to be a lot of fun.
all you canadians make me want to take a road trip through canada and visit all the places you talk about!
I hope the weather was good for this, and not hot and sticky.
Sweet, thanks for the glimpse of life back at home. The night market is always fun, but always packed. Did you get to eat the stinky tofu? I remember lining up forever for it with friends, and then ending up with 3 extra ones because some people bought it but couldn't take the smell.
@apocatim - bubble tea in various flavors, some are milk based, some have different fruit flavours.
@Wangium - I hope it was good!
@Fatcat723 - oh that's great! I wished the lineups were a bit more reasonable.
@tsotofu - hee hee... I hope you don't smell like this.
@bleuzeus - there's also a Taste of the Danforth (in our Greektown) this weekend too. I hope you have a great weekend as well.
@JonasApproved - another trip! Way to go!
@CurryPuffy - the fish / beef / squid in curry was $5 for a small bowl. I had a spring roll (cheeseburger springroll) with a bit of lettuce, some marinated carrots and dressing for $5. A banana in pastry with some syrup was just $1. Lots of stuff in the $3 to $5 range.
@Roadlesstaken - as soon as I took the picture, I knew what to write.
@yang1815 - another 1 word comment. hahahaha... it was nice.

@ZSA_MD - the weather was nice - almost a cool evening actually.
@AzureRecollections - I didn't dare try the stinky tofu.
@ElusiveWords - Andy's comments on some of my pulses are not for the young! lol
@ElusiveWords - only after making stinkeytofu
I love bubble tea! I like the green apple tea with rainbow jellies (the little rectangle jello shots).

Looks like a very fun Friday night, Matt. One of these summers, I'm going to get Tawn back up to TO.
@oxyGENE_08 - Well it would help them grow up!
@yang1815 - lmao. Yeah your comments are helping me grow up. =P
@oxyGENE_08 - Good!
@AppsScraps - there used to be just one at Steeles and Warden, this one was at the parking lot of the downtown T&T. So your odds are a bit better next year with 2 of these markets.
@rudyhou - so that's the noise I'm hearing.
@christao408 - it's not as good as the ones in Asia but it'll do I guess.
