  • Is it naptime yet?

Sleep as usual was restless.  I read, tossed and turned, watched TV, went back to bed and just closed my eyes.  My mind was incredibly active with all sorts of to do's, reminders, analysis going on.  Yet I know in the morning, my mind will be in a semi comatose state.  I tried to simply close my eyes.  I started to see vivid lights flashing and blinking.  I opened my eyes - darkness.  I closed my eyes again - I felt like I was in a club without the music.  Eventually the light faded away and I finally fell asleep just before 3 am.

When the alarm rang this morning, it barely registered.  I don't have any meetings for today so I decided to work from home.  I'm so tempted to take a nap now.   Zzzzz.....

  • I have a love-hate relationship with working from home... O_o

  • That's when I get up and start writing, on nights like those.  The flashing, blinking lights and club with no music would make a good story post!  :)

  • Maybe some quiet meditation before trying to sleep would help. I know that watching the late news on TV puts my mind to sleep. But if that does not work then it is time to do some Centering.

  • You need to quit dropping acid before bed time!

  • Perhaps time to start shopping for a new mattress?

  • *pat* hope you can sleep better soon. I am lucky that I always fall asleep within 1-2 minutes, but once I couldn't sleep for hours so I know the feeling T___T;;, it is horrible.

  • Oh, you poor thing.  I wish there was a magic potion I could give you that would give you a good night's sleep.

  • Here's wishing you some much needed rest Matt.
I hope tonight turns out better for you.
Ugh, how I hate nights like that.

  • Ooh, that's tough. It's hard to get to sleep when you know you need to get to sleep. Then you're just worried ("oh no, I can't fall asleep!!!") and that makes everything worse. That said, I have a secret technique that usually helps me get to sleep, but can't be discussed in a public forum.

  • @oxyGENE_08 - you get to work from home?  Some days it's not that great (noise)

@heart_beep - I was thinking about doing a bit of writing but feared it would keep me up even longer.

@Fatcat723 - yeah, I should try that more often.

@CareyGLY - it was a very strange experience.

@yang1815 - I think the mattress is ok.  It's just my insomnia.

@whoosh90 - you fall asleep within 1 to 2 minutes? *jealous glare*.  hee hee..

@christao408 - brandy?  cognac?  rum toddy?

@bleuzeus - thanks Matt, I hope to get better sleep tonight.

@Senlin - I know, I kept checking the time every so often and was getting anxious.  Msg me your technique, I wonder if it's meditating or something like that.

  • @ElusiveWords - Yes, I have that option since they issued me a laptop. Whenever I do, I lock myself in my room...downside is I work while I'm in bed so zzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ that's my enemy! haha

  • Reading a textbook sometimes helps me fall asleep. I'm not sure if it works for everyone though, but hey, worth a shot!

  • yikes!  you seem to complain about not being able to sleep quite a bit; did you ever go see someone about this?  it might help.  hahaha  the trouble with working from home is staying motivated to work when there are so many other distractions around...  whereas at work the problem (for me anyway) is being distracted by other coworkers and what they're working on.  or maybe i just like to find excuses to procrastinate no matter where i am!

  • @AzureRecollections - most of the time it works (I usually keep a book and some magazines by my bedside).  But lately that isn't working...

@kunhuo42 - she precribed some clonazepam (0.5mg).  I only take it on weekends when I need to.  Last night though, I took went to sleep around 6:00 to 6:30 and woke up around 5:30AM!  I was fine this afternoon.  I hope I'm ok tonight.  I think your procrastination last for a few minutes at the most.  You don't strike me as a procrastinator.

  • Poppy seeds and roasted almonds. Half a tsp of one and five of the other. Will do the trick.

  • @ZSA_MD - interesting, I'll have to give this a try, thank you!

  • you have no idea how many times i've done just that.

  • @rudyhou - you too?  Oh gee... I hope we both have better nights of blissful sleep ahead of us.

  • i came in a little late for work this morning.  yeah, because of that.

  • @supanamja - you're welcome.

  • @ElusiveWords - If you're not against it, I'd give it a try. Like I said, it was almost a revalation for me. For the first time in my life, it was like I was able to turn down the volume.

  • ah, los angeles is quite hot and lazy right now.  I could barely stay up to type this.  ugh.
