Losing my Mind
I know my memory is bad. But you know it’s pretty bad when my dad has to remind me about things. I swear, I think I’m going to be senile soon. Here are a few of the latest examples.
1. I wear reading glasses. The other day, I looked all over the place for them only to discover they were sitting on top of my head.
2. I’ve been looking all over the place for my notepad / journal book from work. I usually jot notes, reminders etc… on it. I just found it in my camera bag. I have no idea what it was doing there.
3. I was packing tonight for a trip tomorrow and my coat had a lot of lint in it. I purchased one of those sticky roll brushes. I see it every day because I leave it in the washroom right by my toothbrush, floss, Qtips… So tonight I wanted to brush my coat but I had no idea where that thing was. In my mind, I kept seeing it but I couldn’t figure out where. It wasn’t until I brushed my teeth did I notice it.
4. The remote control for the TV went missing for a day. I found it at night when I went to sleep. It was on my bed. I have no idea why it’s there as I don’t have a TV in the room.
5. I just found my dad’s sunglasses in my knapsack. He thought he lost it. I remember putting it there when I took him to a doctor’s appointment. But of course, we both forgot where we left it. I’ll have to somehow sneak this back into his house so I don’t look too bad.
6. I stuffed a bunch of bills in my briefcase last week when I didn’t have time to work on them. I figured I would pay them off online when I was at my dad’s place. I just rediscovered them tonight.
7. I asked J – “Did we have hanky panky today or was that the other day?” Ok – I’m kidding about this. I don’t usually forget about stuff like that…. yet.

No worries….I frequently lost some of mine too! I like your No.1 and 7!
Hmmm… Do you really call it hanky panky?
sounds like stress to me.
you’re getting old. hahaha
I always say I’m somewhere between 40 and Alzheimer’s!
Oh, these sound familiar — I’ve been on an eternal hunt for several days as I get ready for another trip to Santa Barbara to visit my mother! Something about these trips is a little discombobulating!
it sounds like stress to me as well……
I am curious too. Did you actually call it hanky panky?
I read the title to your post and now all I can think of is this.

Sounds like you’re tired.
You need a vacation!! I do too come to think of it I forgot to take one last year
.
Breathe!!!
Stress + not enough sleep. I know where you are coming from. Take a day off and get some rest. You have to take care of yourself occasionally Matt. Be well, my friend.
Sounds like you and your dad make quite a pair when it comes to the memory department! =P
I was going to respond to this, but I forgot what I was going to say.
LOL. Im only 21 and forget things ALL the time. I have to keep reminders on my cell so I don’t 4get. Don’t feel bad
Awe Matt, I hope you have time to slow down
and relax a little some time soon. I know you’re on the go
24/7 it seems, and even when you’re not, (if you’re like me) your
mind is still full speed. I wish you gentle peace mate,
*~matthew~*
@CurryPuffy - glad you had a chuckle…
@yang1815 - @supanamja - no I don’t -hahaha… This blog is rated PG13. But I’m sure the average 13 yr old kid doesn’t call it hanky panky either.
@Roadkill_Spatula - yikes! I hope not. *feeling nervous*
@Renatojr3 - you got that right! Ouch…
@CareyGLY - hahahaha, I’m gonna steal that line from you.
@slmret - I’m glad I have company.
@agmhkg - aiya… I really hope not but there is a fair bit of stress in my life right now.
@whoosh90 - yeah, that I am.
@Fatcat723 - a vacation would be nice – wait, your memory is going too? Oh no…
@oxyGENE_08 - inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale…
@Toro69 - it’s a bit tough to take time off. I usually spend an off day at dad’s place.
@christao408 - like father like son… hahaha
@Diary_Of_A_Mad_House_Wife - hahaha – that’s cute, thanks for visiting.
@XoPinkHeart - hee hee… thanks for the comment.
@bleuzeus - I appreciate the well wishes – you take care too.
@ElusiveWords - take a rest!!
hahaha i lose my glasses too. it’s horrible because the one thing you need to enable you to see and find your glasses is the very thing that’s missing! i’ve hooked my glasses on the front of my shirt before, forgot, and frantically searched my whole desk for them. my friend has done what you did, leaving her glasses on her head and forgot about it. both of those events happened a several years ago during undergrad, so don’t feel too bad! i write notes to myself all the time and send myself reminder emails so that i won’t forget things. post-it notes are my best friends!
@ElusiveWords - Say BowchikaBowWOW next time.
…oh yea, I was going to comment…
almost forgot
@kunhuo42 - I hooked my sunglasses there once and crunched it when I leaned over a counter.
@tsotofu - it must be contagious.
Matt, that sounds familiar, hehe. At least, after I had my Laser eye surgery, I do not need to look for my glasses any more. BTW, u plan to change ur id from ElusiveWords to EllusiveMemory?
love ur sense of humor!
@stevew918 - hahahaha…. I just might change my name to ElusiveMemory… good one!
Things like that happen all the time Matt, especially when you are under stress. Just take it easy and when you cannot find what you are looking for, tell yourself, ‘Oh heck, it will show up sooner or later.’
Hope you are sleeping better.
Do you actually say hanky panky to him?
@Wangium - hahaha… nope. We have another “codeword” for it.
