  • Not so productive day

I spent yesterday in a bit of a half awake, half asleep daze.  The morning shower didn't wake me up.  Instead the hot water splashing over my body was so soothing that I wanted to just curl up and sleep in my shower stall.  Lunch time couldn't come early enough.  I staggered out of my condo into the cold, bright day and decided that pho would be a good tonic.

The small Vietnamese restaurant was full.  The tall, boyish looking waiter with a crew cut smiled and asked me to wait for a bit.  He found me a seat 15 minutes later although I had to share the table with 2 other guys.  We gave each other polite glares.  The buzz from the many different conversations was often punctuated by the clinks of the spoons and chopsticks on the plates and bowls.  My spring rolls appetizer came first and I quickly devoured them after liberally dunking them into the fish sauce.  The pho followed and the broth cleared my nose.  In between slurps of the broth and noodles, I watched the waiter scurrying around; his pants dangerously dangling from his hips exposing his underwear (I think it was just a dark blue basketball shorts).  He knew a lot of the regulars and their favorite dishes.  He switched easily between Vietnamese and English with them.

I also watched a few ladies in their late 30's and 40's staring at his drooping jeans but trying to be discreet.  I wonder what those cougars were thinking.   I was pretty sure one of them would pull his jeans down.  But sadly, all their hormones were kept in check.  As each of them made their way up to the counter to pay, I thought I spied a sly grin in each of their faces.  Maybe it was just the food.

With lunch over, I made my way back home to continue to write my reports.  Sadly, what I've written here today is a lot more than what I've written yesterday.
