  • I Talk to Strangers

J and I watched Red on the weekend.  I enjoyed it and we both had a good laugh.  It was an action - comedy movie which didn't require a lot of brain power.  But that's the power of a good movie.  It just takes you to a different place for a couple of hours.  We also watched Wall Street:  Money Never Sleeps recently.  I was always fascinated by the investment industry.  I love the power and lure of money.  I know what money can buy.  I wanted that power at one time in my life.  But that's not me right now.  While I liked this movie, I thought it was a bit too long and choppy.  But still, it was good to get away for a bit and hang out with him.

I was chatting with my cousin the other day.  He said my online friends are very supportive.  I have to agree with him.  I've been very fortunate to end up with a community of special friends.  In fact, in my entire existence in Xanga, I would say it has been overwhelmingly positive.  I told someone that I was pleasantly surprised and touched by the offers of help, the useful advice, prayers and comments like "call me if you need to" that I've received in the past few weeks.  He said my writing must have touched a few people and people genuinely want to help.  I know online friendships can be ephemeral.  Lately this line is starting to blur even more.  It's so confusing.   I have no idea what this means.  Maybe I'll stalk you folks even more.

Perhaps I should let my dad know that I write about him.  I can just imagine the conversation.

Dad: "You write about me and it's on the internet?  Are you crazy?"

Matt:  "No - my subscribers seem to like it."

Dad:  "Your subscribers?  You're selling subscriptions?"

Matt:  "No - it's free.  But I seem to get a lot of comments when I write about you."

    Dad:  "Comments?"

Matt:  "Yes, people can respond or comment to a post."

    Dad:  "Who are these people?"

Matt:  "I've never met them before."

Dad:  "Are you crazy?  They must all be perverts!  I read about the internet!"

Well, maybe not.  I think I'll continue to remain anonymous.  But I just wanted to say thank you.  I'm sure my dad will say thank you too.  laughing

  • Haha that would be an interesting conversation.

    :D

  • Hey, I am only a pervert some of the time!!!

  • HAHA, that conversation should be in a video ;)

  • hm....we kind of  willing to talk with strangers on the net, but not so in real life unless it's necessary....

Power of Money - money makes the world goes round

  • I enjoyed RED especially Helen Mirren. I will take bullets on my chest from her any time =P
Well, I'm a certified Pervert, so your dad is right (even though it is imaginary =P )

  • We're all pervs here

  • we just put our pervertedness on hold when you talk about your dad ;P

  • @yang1815 - interesting?  hahaha... he'll probably think I'm crazy.

@Roadlesstaken - I don't think I can even imagine you as a part time pervert.

@kachino - and watch him chewing me out?  hahahaha....

@agmhkg - true, it's easier to talk to strangers through the internet;  being anonymous also helps.

@ZenPaper - a certified pervert? I'm impressed.  I'm just an ordinary level 1 pervert.  I love Helen Mirren's line about the troubles of adjusting to retirement and having to take the occasional contract.  It's a great line.

    @tsotofu - nah... you?  hahahaha

@ThePrince - whew... thank goodness.  lol...

  • That's what we're here for!

What is "Red"?  Hasn't opened here in Thailand yet.  Did see WS2 and agreed that the story was choppy.  Eat, Pray, Love finally opened here and we enjoyed it very much.

  • Like everyone said...we're all pervs but very friendly ones! lol

  • my bf said he didn't like red...  so i'm not sure if i'm going to end up seeing it.  hahaha if you were willing to meet some of us, then you'd be able to determine for yourself just how many perverts are subscribed to your blog =P

  • Lurker is the correct term

  • @christao408 - RED = Retired Extremely Dangerous. =P It's a comic book adaptation into a movie.

  • @ElusiveWords - Oh trust me, I can =D

  • @tsotofu - oh no... I did mean stalk.  Let's see, if I were to look you up I would have to search on Peter and California.  How hard could that be.  hahahaha....  Ok, maybe lurking is easier.

@christao408 - see if the link works in my post.  It's about retired CIA agent (Bruce Willis) who is being hunted down for unknown reasons.  He rounds up a gang of his ex coworkers who are also in retirement (Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman) to find out why.  There's also a romantic sub plot woven into the story as well.  I'll probably have to catch Eat... when it comes out on DVD.

@oxyGENE_08 - lol... I would have to agree with you.

@kunhuo42 - everyone seems to be insisting they are perverts (except you of course).  If I'm ever down your way, I'll look you up.  (I'll be in trench coat, sun glasses...)

  • @ElusiveWords - ah, well I was talking about myself... if you need lessons on lurking, I'm here to help =P

  • I felt the same way about Wall Street.  I'll have to check out Red.  Thanks!

  • :( can I not perv on your dad?

  • I have not seen either movie but RED sounds like good no thinking movie.  Perverts on Xanga-oh my!!!! You are welcome here to check it out- here being Florida. So you will not need the trench coat. Bikinis as  well as thongs. Not much left to show. Sometimes I feel like I get my fill of porn at the beach lol

  • You know we love you!

Eh, I think a conversation with my parents about my blog would pretty much go the same way. Parents just don't understand (haha).

  • I love you Mattie. You should probably ask dad " how would you like it if I talked about you with my friends on line"? This might give you an idea of how he will react.

  • i enjoy your writing.  and i like hearing about your dad.  tell him us perverts say hello!  no, it helps me see things from the other side of the diagnosis/treatment.  b/c i like to write about my patients too, that's why i "friends lock" it.

  • Matt have you met anyone you know from here in xanga-land?
I have to say, there are couple people who I am friendly with here
that I would give just about anything to meet. I feel very connected
to them, and cherish their friendship as much as any person I've sat
across the table from in real life.
Wishing you well mate, as always.
    *~matthew~*

  • @CareyGLY - you're welcome, I hope you enjoy the movie.

@pika_whoosh - hahaha.... he'll probably whack you over the head with his cane.

@Fatcat723 - bikini and thongs, that's a lot of skin!

    @TheCheshireGrins - aww... thank you.

@ZSA_MD - thanks Zakiah!  I think he would be very puzzled if I told him.  He's never heard of blogging before.

@caki730 - I think you have a lot of empathy for your patients.

@bleuzeus - yes, I've met a couple of folks.  There are some good people here.

  • @ElusiveWords - :( that is very unkind! Does he not understand the concept that after he is mentioned on the internet then I, as a subscriber, have every right to perv over him? XD loljk.

  • Oh, sounds like an interesting exchange between you and dad. Your account of father and son exchanges reminds me of a recent book, by a twenty-something who jotted down all his dad's interesting and funny remarks about life in general.

  • This has made me think about the time off you had from your previous blog, before you created this one. What a loss it would have been for me and your readers if you did not come back.
