Lights Off!
I got this small desk lamp about a month ago. It doesn’t have an on/off switch. You just have to touch it to turn it on and off as well as to increase the level of brightness. One morning, I woke up and noticed the lamp was on. I figured I must forgot to turn it off when I went to bed. A couple of weeks ago, I woke up in the middle of the night. It was kinda bright so I got up and looked around. The desk lamp was on again. This time I knew I had turned it off before I went to bed. I got out of bed and turned it off. But it took me awhile to get back to sleep. What on earth was turning it on? Now as I start to fall asleep, I keep looking to see if that lamp will come on again. Maybe I’ll just unplug it from now on so that “no one” can turn it on.
It would be really awkward if there was a presence in my condo - even if it was friendly. I mean, I would have no privacy to uhm... do what I want.

My I suggest a short in the on/off switch.
Matt, you are so cute.
Maybe the "presence" is a cute male ghost?
That could be a bit of a turn on... lol

Hmm, did I really just say that?
Yikes.... sorry... lol

@Fatcat723 - there's no on / off switch to speak off. So far it's behaved it self again.
@bleuzeus - oh my... hahahaha. I don't have any fetishes for ghosts. (I wonder if that even exist)
Do you have any pets? If I had one of those, I am sure one of my cats would turn it on in the middle of the night!
@New_Egyptian - I don't have any pets.
Maybe you sleep walk? I did that when i was young.
@stevew918 - hmm... I've never had a history of sleepwalking though. Interesting thought though...
Maybe J comes by, kisses u nite nite but u were asleep so he went home with the light on, hehe
W's lamp has the same issue too! I told him it was Santa Claus making a pre-Christmas inspection and making sure W has been a good boy or not?
@stevew918 - You still do the sleepwalk thing now? ^0^
Perhaps you were having wet dreams and your you-know-what turned it on. HAHA
@stevew918 - hahaha... I'm kinda far from where he lives.
@CurryPuffy - really, whew - it's good to know that I'm not alone.
@yang1815 - Andy!!! You naughty boy!!! *spank*
@yang1815 - LOL!!! hahaha.. how come you don't leave funny comments like that on my page? i'm jealous.
this is kind of creepy.. but yeah, 100% it's a ghost. and it wants you to know that it's there.
@Made2Order - it better not be a ghost, I can't handle that - even if it is a friendly one.
you can get one of those extension cords with an on/off switch (e.g., http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-31324-10-Foot-Extension-Switch/dp/B003E46M60) , which will allow you to turn it on and off without having to unplug it all the time.
@kunhuo42 - I've got it plugged directly to the wall right now because the power bar has my 2 laptops (work and home), router & misc stuff. I think it's time to clean it up and move the lamp there. Thanks for the idea! (now why didn't I think of that?)
@Made2Order - I shall try Jack.
You don't really give me chances to make jokes though since you usually would make them yourself. Tsk tsk.
@ElusiveWords - spanks back.
Believe it or not I have a TV like that in my office. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and hear it. Always freaks me out!
If it was a ghost, what would turning on the light do? Why not just appear infront of you? Hmm
Seems nobody's thought of 'Astral Projection/Travel' - apparently, all humans are capable of 'out of body experiences', though whether that includes switching lamps on, I'm not sure.
I like this idea better than the 'ghost' one !
Thrashing about in your sleep?
@yang1815 - Wow, what is up with that!?
@christao408 - What's up? Ask Matt!
Definitely sounds like a ghost to me!
Maybe there's a fly or moth or something that can trigger it? Oh, a spider!
@CareyGLY - I would absolutely freak out if I started to hear voices and didn't know that it was the TV. With my luck it'll be some horror movie with a creepy soundtrack.
@stepaside_loser - I really don't want a ghost to appear in front of me. I'd probably run but not before blogging about it first.
@Chatamanda - now that's an interesting thought. I am pretty sure I haven't done that before.
@christao408 - the lamp is in the living room but I can see it from my bedroom (sort of like a bachelors apt)
@TheCheshireGrins - no ghost - yikes!
@AzureRecollections - I have seen moths in my condo (another story), the odd spider too. I'm grateful I don't have those crawly things with lots of legs (house centipedes)... I hate those things.
@ElusiveWords - I'm not sure that you would know if you'd done it, I don't know if you'd remember it when you woke up. Who knows what you could be getting up to ! Lol
@ElusiveWords - I definitely have house centipedes. Don't see them very often, but they're like the insects from hell when you do see one. Even my dog gets freaked out by them. They have a hard exoskeleton, so when my dog tries to squish it with her paws, it doesn't work!
Are you sleep walking again...?
@brooklyn2028 - I don't think so... hmm...
