  • Lunatic drivers

The "supermoon" seems to have brought out the worst drivers in my city.  Some crazy drivers didn't even wait for the full moon to rise.  They were already out during the day.  I saw folks weaving in and out of lanes.  There were those that didn't remember to signal their lane changes.  There's a stretch of road that I go by that has a "S" curve.  I dread going into that curve because over half of the drivers just don't stay in their lanes. I approached that turn carefully on the weekend.  It was a busy drive and there was a car on my left and on my right.  Even though the speed limit was 60kph (35 mph), I slowed down and let the 2 cars beside me get a bit ahead.  Sure enough, the car on my left drifted into my lane.  If I didn't slow down, he would have nailed me.

The slowpokes were out in force too.  I sat behind one who drove so nervously he almost got me stuck in the middle of an intersection when the light turned.  As we slowly proceeded through, he slowed down again and stared at me through the rearview mirror.  I could only see a clear road ahead of us.  It was a 40 kph zone.  But he crawled along at 20ish just to be safe.  It was a single lane too so I couldn't pass him.  I leaned on my horn and wondered why these people still exist.

The speedfreaks were also out on Saturday night.  I see them every weekend zipping down the highways to downtown late at night.  The younger ones zoom past me in their parent's car.  The richer ones have the nicer cars.  Some even have the stretch SUV limos.  I usually cruise along above the speed limit and have been known to occasionally stray past the legal limit.  But these guys scare me.  I expect them to race and they do.  Sometimes they will pull up beside me to see if I want to join them.  But I decline.  Most simply speed down weaving in and out of traffic.  These guys don't wait for the supermoon, they are regulars.  Sometimes I just want to cut them off just to wake them up.  Maybe nudge them into the shoulder.  Of course I don't.  As much as I hate them, I just hope they don't kill someone.

The only good thing about the supermoon weekend was just sleeping with J... I mean, sleeping on J.  It was just the 2 of us on the couch, curled up together with my head resting on his chest.  It was a good way to take a nap... and getting your back scratched at the same time.

i'm glad you didn't get involved in an accident as a result of those guys. i hate bad drivers.

  • Speedfreaks...slowpokes.....we have plenty of those in L.A. too!

  • That's a typical day of driving in these parts of the woods. :] Best to be a defensive driver in these situations. Be safe!

  • Sounds like my neighborhood of drivers! Defensive driving is a necessity here. Glad you enjoyed your nap!!

  • gosh!  everyone passing me is crazy and everyone blocking me is an ass!

  • I share your hatred of bad drivers.  Try the DC area, it's worse....

  • lots of lunatics - kids gone strange

  • We do have a lot of lunatics in our city, don't we!  Gosh, I wonder if I'm one of them...

  • good to see you weren't goaded into joining the speedsters. I would've a long time ago, but it's not worth the risk for something so trivial. I did not like driving down the gardiner on Saturday night after the leafs game lol.

  • Stay safe buddy!

  • Lunatics on the road!!

Never got to see the Super Moon. We had clouds covering the sky.

  • @ThePrince - you're right!  I usually get angrier when I drive by myself.

@CurryPuffy - argh... they are everywhere!

@piyapong - I'm try to be more careful nowadays but I still lose it every so often when some idiot gets near me.

@Fatcat723 - the nap was awesome.

@yang1815 - hahaha... you took the words right out of my mouth!

@Toro69 - we should have these bad drivers go up against each other.

@brooklyn2028 - hahaha... I'm careful in my 'hood.  Sometimes I think if I honk or gesture (inappropriately), it might be you.  (hee hee...)

@AzureRecollections - driving south on 427 or DVP late Saturday is crazy.  I just have to take a deep breath and hope for the best.

    @Roadlesstaken - I will.

@ZSA_MD - I should borrow your SUV and run them off the road.  (I mean, show them how to driver properly).

  • @ElusiveWords - Good, better to be a defensive driver. However, if im ever in the neighborhood and someone needs a driving beat down you just let me know. I didn't learn to drive in LA without some angst. Muahaha. It'll be fun.

  • @ElusiveWords - that's what quickies usually do.
