  • Eric Kim Photography

I've always enjoyed people watching.  There's something fascinating about the daily performances of life and how fleeting each moment is.  While we may do the same things everyday, walk the same path everyday and maybe even run into the same people everyday - no 2 days are identical.  Street photography is equally fascinating.  It can be those interesting folks you see during the day, or a fascinating moment or just some subtleties of life that deserved to be recorded.

While procrastinating one day, I came across Eric Kim's photography site. This young photographer recently struck out on his own and is pursuing his craft full time.  He's got a good eye and a bit of balls shooting people on the street.  He's got a pretty good eye and his videos are interesting.  If you like street photography - go check him out.  If you're in the LA area, he is giving a workshop July 30th and 31st.  He's even got a Leica rep with him to show off the Leica M9.  The details are in his blog.

    His site is erickkimphotography.com

  • I agree with you about street photography. There are times I wish I had my camera with me. Of course, I always forget I have a camera/video in my phone. duh. I watch his presentation sounds like something I would attend of in the area.

  • Thanks for sharing the information, Matt! Wish I had some free time during that weekend. *sad face*

  • I'm always jealous of people who can take pictures soooo well :c

  • If I loved in LA, I would probably go check him out. I love  candid street shots too.

  • thanks for suggesting the site, i spent the past half hr going through it~  hopefully this will help me figure out how to shoot people without feeling like a creep, lol

  • Oh my, Eric Kim's voice sounds almost like that of  Cho Seung-Hui. :-/

  • Interesting... thank you for sharing Matt.  Thank you for procrastinating just for us.  LOL

  • @Fatcat723 - I'm not sure I have the courage to just point a camera at someone and take the picture.  I just don't know how people will react.

@CurryPuffy - you're welcome Gary, I'm sure he'll have more workshops later in the year.

@pika_whoosh - yeah, same here Matthew.  I sometimes glance through some flickr sites and feel this strange combination of being inspired and giving up.

@ZSA_MD - you do?  I didn't know that.  I think you would have a sensitive eye for catching these types of scenes.

@aPieceOfTheSky - he's got some good tips.  I'm not sure if I could pull it off though.  I've always wanted to try street portraiture too. I see a lot of interesting characters on the streets and would love to capture them.

@beowulf222 - oh gosh... maybe it's just the mic on his laptop that filters parts of his voice out.  *shudders*

@christao408 - you're welcome Chris, I'd be more than happy to procrastinate again.
