  • Late Night Mumblings

I honestly don’t know what to write about anymore.  My insomnia has returned.  I think that daylight saving time change did something.  I went out to grab some bread and milk for tomorrow’s breakfast.  There are always shoppers in this 24 hr store.  I wonder if they are like me or maybe they on shift work.  There’s usually just one cashier.  I lined up behind some hot Asian guy.  He had a bunch of frozen food, pop, gum in his cart.  He must be single or too lazy to cook.  The guy behind me must have noticed him too.  I could hear him breathing on my neck.  I slowly turned sideways and he backed up.  HAG (hot Asian guy) does have a girl friend … she popped out of nowhere to protect her knight.  They walked very slowly while he was texting.  I caught up with them near the exit.  I just knew he would be driving some hot sports car – a 2 door Bimmer, I couldn’t tell if it was a 3 series or the 6 series.  Why do hot guys with hot chicks drive hot cars?  I mulled over this as I drove away in my trusty old Civic.  Life isn’t fair.

It’s almost 1:30 AM.  If tonight is like the other nights, it’ll be several more hours before I sleep.  The last couple of evenings I’ve been reading Wayson Choy’s book “Not Yet: A Memoir of Living and Almost Dying”.  I’ve been wanting to read this for some time and saw it on sale last week.  (yeah… I can be a bit on the cheap side).  I love the concise but vivid style of writing he has.  But reading this book gave me many flashbacks to my mom’s last days in the hospital.  I wondered what she felt and what was going through her mind as she slowly slipped into a coma. I had to push those thoughts out of my head.  It’s time to move on … I repeat that refrain several times in my head.  I read until my eyes are tired.  Then I slowly ease myself to a few hours of sleep.

Just a few sips of sleep to quench this thirst… that’s all I need.

  • Do not read what you enjoy before going to bed. Read a boring chemistry book may help put you to sleep, hehe.

Are u hinting u want a brimmer and a gf? Lol teasing you, sleep well, our dear Mattie. :)

  • Good intro on the first paragraph, I was trying to visualize the scene in the convenience store, haha! As for getting to dreamland, I try to read a boring book, or close my eyes and think of doing some mundane things. Should not think of food though, never works for me. ^0^

  • A hot car is an extension of a hot man. So they say and thats what hot car manufacturers try to convey. So that Civic of yours? It may not mean you’re not hot, simply humble

  • Do something boring before trying to sell. I was told to stay away from the computer and reading (unless it was a book I had to read but did not want to read). Anything that awakens our minds will keep us from sleep. I usually watch some TV and fall asleep quickly. Oh, some nice relaing tea also seems to help – unless caffeine keeps you awake.

Nice story about the supermarkets and well written – indeed cars and an extension of a man’s penis – for those who need to get self-esteem from outside themselves.

  • @CurryPuffy - I agree, he is really good at writing in such a way that you can easily imagine the scenarios he describes.

  • Loool. I really like this post. It’s so true.

  • What about moderate dudes that don’t own a car? boo. I fail.

  • It’s the other way around here…if a nice car drives pass you, everyone assumes that whoever drives that car is ugly or an old man. LOL

  • You should get your books on Amazon. I used to spend hundreds of dollars on hard covered books. Then my daughter told me to start ordering them on Amazon, and a $25 book in a book store, was on sale for $7 or $8. Have saved a bunch of money doing that.

Why would you look at other HAGS, when you have such a good looking one by you at your beck and call? Hunh?

  • thanks for the book rec. i’ll check it out.

  • @stevew918 - no… I can’t read Chemistry, Math, Bio Chemistry, Physics, Accounting… oh Steve, I don’t think I could get through a page without screaming.  I don’t really want a Bimmer – maintenance costs are on the high side so it’s out of my budget.  Gf?  hahahaha…. J would not approve.

@CurryPuffy - it’s actually a supermarket rather than a grocery store.  There’s another 24 hour one about a 10 minute drive away.   I tend to read your blog at nights and you post a lot of food.  The only cure is for you to deliver a hot meal for me.  hee hee…

@The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter - so true, that Civic has served me very well.

@Fatcat723 - I’ve read that about staying away from computers because of the bright monitors.  If I even smell coffee at night, I’ll be wide awake.  On the other hand, sometimes it takes me 3 cups of hot java in the morning just to wake me up.  I think I’m more suited to keeping your owls company at night.

@Roadlesstaken - hahaha – thanks Alex, appreciate the compliment.

    @kev1nccho1 - I have a funny feeling you drive a Bimmer too.

@injectedwords - I think you would pick a Subaru Forester, Honda CRV or Toyota RAV4.  I think you want something that is practical, reliable and can get around in all types of weather.  Since you go camping, you probably want something that can carry your gear and can handle a bit of rough roads.

@oxyGENE_08 - really?  hahaha… what does the President’s car look like?

@ZSA_MD - J gets ebooks now.  I should check out Amazon and other sites.  But I also like to support the bookstores too.  Oh I’m so torn…

@wutuwaitn4 - he has a couple of other books set in Vancouver’s Chinatown around WW2.

  • @ElusiveWords - I have one of those horse carriages.

  • @ElusiveWords - Oh he got in to some heat after he bought a Porsche while millions of Filipinos are starving. He’s a bachelor President and I’m actually not a big fan. LOL

  • You can’t differentiate between a 3 and a 6?!?!?!?!
