Food is always on my mind.  I can’t remember if I’ve posted these pictures before.

I got this Bahn Mi from Chinatown on my way home one day.  Once I got home, I heated it up in my toaster oven and wolfed it down.

One of my favorite dishes is poached chicken with ginger / green onions / salt / oil dip.  I add some green onions, onions, pepper to my poaching liquid.  I save the bones afterwards and reuse the poaching liquid to make stock.  If you aren’t planning to do this, you can always add more salt to the poaching liquid.

Beef, string beans & onions stir fry.

This is a simple meal.  I had left over bbq pork and some homemade chicken stock.  So I boiled up some noodles, added some frozen wontons (yes… frozen, packaged wontons from a supermarket), some napa cabbage and made a soup.  Garnish with green onions and sesame seed oil (and hot sauce if you prefer).  It’s better than instant noodles.

I sometimes make smoothies for breakfast or lunch.  This is a blue berry smoothie with soy milk, wheat germ, a bit of honey, a splash of vanilla and some plain low fat yogurt.

I think that’s all the food pictures I have.  I guess I better get cooking.

  • I’m glad that I’m eating right now…

  • Oh Matt, your self-made meals are just like the ones I eat at a restaurant! Yumm! :P

  • You’re making me hungry!

  • This is wondeful.

Today I copied your recipe of the meat loaf you had here the other day. However, I used roast beef and cream of mushroom soup instead of the tomato sauce. I am going to post the pictures in a little bit.

  • I would like a #4 :D with a soda, please.

  • Second and third dishes plus the smoothie look great. Thank you for sharing!

  • Could I have a vietnamese sandwich but instead have bbq chicken or beef in it instead? :)
2 and 4 look very good… I’m craving chinese food now.

  • That banh mi looks like they skimped on the meat :( Did you know Quickly’s now has banh mi as well? LOL it’s actually not that bad. I LOVE STRING BEANS (: And those all look delicious!

  • I should know better than do look at food before supper – now I will pig out – meow.

i took pictures of my tofu fa making adventure this afternoon, so i will need to post that soon!

  • Gosh, I should NOT have been reading Xanga just before dinner time.  Now I’m hungry after seeing your pics.

  • Man, those food pictures look so familiar ;) … because that’s something I ate this past week :)

  • I always enjoy bbq pork with noodles. Come visit us and we go chinatown, :)

  • Love that expression “Wolfed it down” LOL..Thats what I love to do when it’s something I really enjoy eating..Sometimes, I take the time to slowly ‘savor’ it too..
Had T-bone steak earlier..Im hoping what was left over is still in the kitchen after seeing this post..BTW what kind of smoothie is that? Love the color, my favorite! LOL

  • love it! makes me so hungry now

  • I love banh mi – we call it pork roll over here. Tasty and cheap!

Your smoothie looks devine – it’s so humid these days and my mouth is watering at the thought of an icey cold smoothie … ok, I need to make something to dirnk now even though it’s midnight and I’ve brushed my teeth

  • @Got_Claws - they were yummy.

@kev1nccho1 - the ones that I usually get are cold cuts with a slathering of pate and a mayonnaise like spread .  Some are spicy (usually they will ask you), some will have meatballs, roast pork / chicken.  There are some places where you can pick out what you want to put in.  They are usually garnished with pickled daikon and carrots.

@QueenMe - hahaha…. I’m gonna have to cook up some more dishes.

@CurryPuffy - thank you Gary, appreciate the compliment.

  • @slmret - hahaha…. that was my objective.

@ZSA_MD - thank you Zakiah, I’ll pop by your site to check out your masterpiece.  Thank you for the rec.

@SHEERROSE - unfortunately I don’t deliver… don’t you wish the internet can do instant delivery?

@nov_way - thank you for dropping by.

@Devilzgaysianboi - I think so, I usually just buy the ones they’ve premade but you can custom order them.  Cooking isn’t that hard.  I can tell you that making cooking mistakes is very easy but you learn from them.

  • @hilabpartnerxD -  thank you for the compliment.  There’s a bit more meat on the other half of the bun.  I had to open it flat so I could toast it without burning the bread.

    @Fatcat723 - hahaha… I hope you had a good dinner Rob.

@kunhuo42 - the ginger, green onions, salt and oil is addictive.  I can eat bowls and bowls of rice with it.

@brooklyn2028 - what did you end up having for dinner?

    @kachino - rerun of food porn…

    @stevew918 - yes!  I love wonton mein!

@ms_latina_lady2012 - it’s a blueberry smoothie, thank you for visiting.

@radio03 - I hope you had something to eat afterwards.

@stepaside_loser - I used frozen blueberries (you can also use any frozen fruits or fresh fruits).  I didn’t add ice, the soy milk, yogurt were all cold as well so it was a nice refreshing drink.

  • Back again. I love that recipe of the napa cabbage with the frozen wantons. I can add chicken breast or roast beef instead of pork. I think I will make it this week.

  • @ZSA_MD - chicken or turkey will work well instead of pork.  Beef might be a bit too strong.  If you’re buying the frozen wontons, a lot of them will have pork so look for ones that just have shrimp.

  •          Hmm,, now I want a smoothie….lol
                     that one looks great. :)
                                 *~matthew~*

  • @bleuzeus - it was filling but nutritious.

  • @ElusiveWords - Thanks, will do. I am always reading the ingredients anyway.

  • I love viet bread. I like them spicy!

  • @jennfaceee - One time, I bit into one with a hot pepper inside.  I left my mouth wide open for a few seconds to let out a silent scream.

  • from the choices you posted, my pick would be the chicken rice and blueberry smoothie

  • @rudyhou - it’s gonna be pretty stale by the time I deliver those to you.  So I’m just gonna eat them myself.

  • @ElusiveWords - LOL…. just admit it.  you just don’t like sharing!

  • Haven’t really found good banh mi here in Bangkok.  Sadly, good bread is hard to find, which I think is critical for the sandwich to be a success.

  • this is nice too.

heat up the bahn mi???  doesn’t the veggie get soft?!

  • @christao408 - yes, I’ve taken for granted how easy it is to get good bread in Toronto.  The bread they use is ok, not the greatest but the sandwich is about $3 if I remember correctly.

@yang1815 - it’s not for long, just enough to heat up the meat and bread.  The picked carrots and radish is still ok.
