  • Versatile Blogger

Some time ago, Zsa_MD tagged me for The Versatile Blogger.  I'm supposed to write 7 things about myself.  But I got swamped at work and am now getting around to it.

    1.  I’ve been on Xanga since 2005.  Some of you have been with me on this ride for many years.  When I started to read blogs, I was astounded at how much people shared on their blogs.  I read a lot of entries that resonated with me and I've always appreciated their openness.  Some folks wrote about the struggles with their sexuality, race, relationships, school and life in general.  I saw blogs that gave me a glimpse of how other people lived - from their daily chores in life to the music, food and books they enjoyed.  I think that still inspires me to write and to share a bit of myself.  It's a small way of giving back to the community.

    2.  I didn’t really appreciate and enjoyed writing until I started to blog.  Over time, I gradually understood how words can come together to create wonderful images and emotions.  I got a lot of encouragement from another blogger who I still miss.  He shared everything from some simple guidelines on blogging to the books he was reading.  I find the whole process of writing and telling a story fascinating.  It’s a skill I want to develop.

    3.  My forgetfulness is legendary.  I’m sure I’ve written about this but I'm not really sure.  When I’m watching a TV show and a commercial comes on, I’ll just change channels.  Almost all the time, I’ll forget what I was watching and settle on another show.  Then I’ll remember I was watching something else but can't remember what.  At a recent family dinner, I forgot names of some relatives.  But I just smiled and chatted until someone mentioned their name (whew...).  I can just picture myself butt naked and frantically screaming “Why am I naked?”  And my bf will reply “Because we just had sex!”  I guess I'll have to write that down immediately on one of those yellow sticky notes.  laughing

    4. I like cats but right now my condo is too small to have a cat.  I don’t know where to put the litter pan.  Nor do I have time to look after a cat.  I know they are independent.  But there are times when I am away and no one will take care of them.  I’ve always had cats when we were growing up.  I seem to connect better to cats than dogs.  I told J that if we get a cat, the thing might just stare at us when we are in bed.  That sort of freaked J out.

    5. Did any of you see Gentemann's recent entry?  That’s pretty well what my desk looks like.  I’m just a mad creative guy that straddles the line between genius and insanity.

    6. My gayness has not helped me in terms of style in clothing or decor.  I dress somewhat shabbily and was mistaken for a homeless person once.  My condo is best described as college dorm like with some hints of industrial stuff.  The walls are all builder's white.  My bed is a combination of whatever bedsheets and pillow cases I have on hand.  Nothing matches.

    7.  I do enjoy cooking but I'm not one to write down recipes.  I learned most of Chinese dishes from watching my mom.  I sometimes will read cookbooks in bed but I rarely dream about cooking or eating. I've had more cooking disasters than I care to write about.  What I post here are things that look good.  Thankfully you don't to taste them.  I would be petrified if I had to cook for any of you.

I'm supposed to tag others.  But I think I'll leave it up to you to write 7 things about yourselves.

  • The forgetful and nakedness parts are quite funny! LOL

  • Condo tour time!  I expect a lot of pictures.

  • Yellow sticky note? Is that a euphemism for a post-sex asian?

  • I was thinking where to put the yellow sticker? Wink

  • @CurryPuffy - I am guessing you and W don't have this issue....

    @Roadlesstaken - it's a messy condo... hahaha.

@secade - HAHAHAHAHA.... ROTFL!  good one.

@stevew918 - You're an engineer, you figure it out.

  • Dude... number six. Hahahaha

  • I can totally relate to the forgetfulness. Seems to be getting worse with age.

  • I didn't realise you were into cats. I enjoyed getting to know you more - makes me think that it's probably impossible to get to know someone completely.

I really like that way you write, Matt. There's this yearning in your words that keeps me coming back

  • Maybe you do need a cat in your life. Cats are very neat and tidy and they hide their crap well. You could learn alot from a cat. Think about it !

  • Thanks for sharing. Some of the items sound like me. I will have to give it some thought - meow meow.

  • This was an interesting read. So revealing! Matt's sex life uncovered...it includes yellow sticky notes, cats staring and mismatched bed sheets. LOL

  • @supanamja - sad but true, sigh... I need a Scotch.

@beowulf222 - I'm going to be like a zombie when I get to be 80, maybe even a lot earlier.

@stepaside_loser - thanks Andrew, I'm not sure what yearning there is in my words but I'm glad you enjoy reading my entries.

@catstemplar2 - my brother had cats as well.  He would complain that his two cats would always leave a bit of the kitty litter in his bed.  I think they get stuck in their paws and come loose when the cats hop on to their bed.  I like your profile picture!

@Fatcat723 - you're welcome Rob.  I should also mention my books are never sorted in any order (except from tall to short).  I just don't have that librarian's touch.

@oxyGENE_08 - hahaha.... I left all the more interesting tidbits out.  This blog is not XXX.  Besides, you're a good Catholic boy and I don't want to scare you.

  • @ElusiveWords - LOL funny but all the straight up Catholic I know are the more perverted ones. :P

  • when do I get to visit?

  • SOOOO, if I come to Toronto, are you going let me take a look at you? Then I will decide if you look like a homeless waif or an industrial type of guy.

I love cats too. I had several here, but the problem is when you go away, like you said. However independent and clean they are, and how good the "fresh step" is, the crap can be a stink either in the basement or in the garage.

Thanks for posting these facts about you Mattie. I love reading your posts.

  • Good job ! in writing down the 7 things of yourself.....at this moment I can't think of even writing one thing of my self.....

  • LOL to the naked part!  I didn't know you were a cat guy...don't know if we can be friends still!  Haha.  Kidding.

  • @yang1815 - a visit here?  ai ya...

@ZSA_MD - I'll be an industrial looking homeless kinda guy...

@agmhkg - you just have to find a quiet time and I'm sure it'll come to you.

@brooklyn2028 - meow ... meow... hiss, snarl.... My memory hasn't gotten that bad yet.  Although I'm sure there are many that will disagree with me.

  • 1) Yay. I've known you since you were onetonman. Good days :) Cept for some reason the change of name gives me a different vibe when I'm reading your blogs
    3) The 'why am i naked' thing make me smile. I think it'd be cute for the first moments of someone doing that (as long as the scream isn't too high pitched)
    6) The whole decor/feng shui thing is overrated. I feel like less is more and even though things don't match, it's fine as long as you're content with it.
