Hong Kong
Hong Kong:
- as I kid I was mesmerized by the Star Ferry. I was fascinated by the gates on the ramp to the ferry, the bell ringing, boarding the moving ferry, the wooden seats, windows and watching the city scape. I even enjoyed watching the water churn a brilliant white / green foam as the ferry docked
- the crowds
- and they all spoke Cantonese, I thought it was just the language of my family and relatives
- the food
- relatives, no matter how old you are, they still treat you like you’re a kid
- bringing flowers to the cemetery for departed relatives
- horse racing
- domestic workers out on Sundays
- temples

I don’t have much to write about today. There are too many thoughts flying around in my head.

The food. Yessssssssss.
It’s been 13 years since I’ve been back. I need to visit again.
@laytexduckie - haha I agree, the food is even more amazing when you go back as an adult!
That’s what childhood memories are all about. Beautiful thoughts that churn around and bring on the nostalgia.
Such a beautiful video. Definitely makes me miss what this city has come to mean to me.
Wow, This is really awesome. The same guy also did a similar video on Toronto: http://vimeo.com/63647331
Making these time lapse videos is popular right now. Nevertheless it’s pretty amazing.
Memories, sometimes there’s such a thing as too many.
Never visited Hong Kong but the video calls me.
Nice time lapsed video. I miss the yummy food, especially the sweet stuff!
first off, how is your aunt doing? any news with that?
and also, thank you for sharing the video – it was a very enjoyable watch for me friend!
I was staring at the word “Hong Kong” for so long it both looked and sounded weird. It really does seem a part of you is in Hong Kong, which is lovely because I can imagine you feeling at home there as well as in Toronto. To me, HK was the place I had the best wontons!
The night view in Hong Kong looks incredible.
for me? the FOOD. hands down.
Not much a fan of HK…can only take it in small doses as I find the people way too rude. Even worse when you can understand what they are saying… ;P
Are you visiting soon?
@laytexduckie - there’s a big duck over there waiting for you.
@XtremePsionic - it’s been awhile since I’ve visited.
@ZSA_MD - sometimes these memories show up at the most unexpected time.
@mizz_chan - it’s hard for many to understand how people can adapt to the crowds, the noise and the pace of life. But people do and are proud to call it home. Thanks for dropping by.
@beowulf222 - I didn’t realize he made a Toronto video until I posted this and checked out what else he has. I kept trying to look for my building in the Toronto video but it’s not in the video.
@n_e_i_l - hahaha – so true. But when you start getting forgetful, that’s when you miss those memories.
@Fatcat723 - I hope one day you’ll get a chance to go.
@CurryPuffy - if I go back for a visit, I may have to ask you for some travel tips.
@l0311879l - I’m glad you enjoyed the video. The latest news on my aunt is that she is stable but is still in the hospital.
@stepaside_loser - I love wontons and really miss the ones my mom made. I don’t know if I’ll feel at home in Hong Kong because of the language.
@KevEats - the night lights is one of my favorite scenes.
@rudyhou - somehow I knew you would say that.
@brooklyn2028 - my cousin told me the bad manners are even more prevalent now which is really sad. One time they bumped my aunt and she fell to the sidewalk. All this because she had a cane and was walking too slow.
@oxyGENE_08 - not sure, it’s kinda difficult for me to travel right now.
@ElusiveWords - I understand. But if ever you swing by let me know but you’re Mr. Elusive so I doubt you’d let me know
My highlight are food and family visit.
