  • Snippets

Snippets... just bits and pieces from my fractured brain.

    1.  At a recent birthday dinner for someone, the guest of honor was over an hour late.  The hosts (not the birthday boy) waited for over an hour and decided to serve dinner for the other guests.  Dinner conversation started off with someone extolling the virtues of breast reduction surgery and liposuction.  While I generally am ok with small talk, this time, I kept my mouth shut.  Sometimes when you have nothing good to say, it's best to stay quiet.  At least the food was very good.

    2.  I've been eating a lot of veggies and grains lately.  At a recent spree of very fibrous veggies, bran flakes and oatmeal, my stomach started to feel bloated while I was at work.  There was no way I could let the excess gas out at my cubicle.   I ducked into the washroom only to find all the stalls full.  No doubt, everyone must be on the same diet I'm on.  I walked out to the street.  Thankfully there was a lot of road construction.  All that drilling and hammering covered up the "noise" from my thunderous ass.  I had to do that several times.  I gotta find the right balance of veggies and grains.  I mean, I'm going to the washroom 2 to 3 times a day.  But at least my insides are clean.

    3.  While walking home today, I walked past a local arts college.  I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of Asian students here.  I automatically assumed that most of them were 2nd or 3rd generation.  When I grew up, I just knew I had to get a university degree.  I didn't get a stern lecture or anything (at least I don't remember).  I didn't become a doctor, engineer or accountant.  My parents never pushed me to any field.  It was really to get a good education.  I wasn't an academic star.  I had some As and Bs, but also C's, D's and a lower.  I think when I get rich, I'm going to start a scholarship fund for just for average and below average students.

    4.  This past few days, I am getting a lot of signs and signals about writing.  I turn on the TV and I see the show about WP Kinsella.  Yesterday I turned on the TV while cooking and caught an interview with all the Giller prize nominees.  An alumni newsletter highlighted one of the Giller prize nominees is one of the writing instructors at the school.  I was roaming through a discount bookstore and found The Time Traveller's Wife.  It's been out for many years now but I've never read it or watched the movie.  There were about 4 or 5 copies left but only one had the author's autograph.  It was waving at me so I had to get it.

I think if I was to write a book, the main character will be a gay Asian vampire.  His main love interest is another young man who just happens to be a wizard.  Their lives intersect back and forth as they struggle to sort out sexual tensions, evil spells, lust for blood & racial boundaries.  I think I have all the elements needed for a best seller.

  • I just saw something on TV about a gay vampire story...I can't remember what it was though.
1 hour late for your own party?  What a tool!

  • LOL!!!  Love the Asian gay vampire idea!!!

Boy I'm amazed that you can hold your farts that long!!!

  • @CareyGLY - good lord, you're fast with the comment.  Don't your guests keep you busy?  I can't believe someone beat me to the story.  Argh!

  • Is # 4 the upcoming Gaysian Vampire Chronicles? hehe  I'm afraid he'd bite me!  Now ... as per #2 ... I just have to say I like working on a floor with a 2 or 3 to 1 female to male ratio which prevents overcrowding of the men's washroom!

  • DUDE ever since I started eating oats for breakfast every morning, things are rough in my office space :(

  • @yang1815 - I was on the first floor so it was a quick walk outside.  hahahaha...

@TheLatinObserver - you're lucky with the female to male ration.  My office is the other way around.

@secade - hahaha... yeah, I've stopped adding bran flakes to my oatmeal.

  • @ElusiveWords - Some quick calculations say that I'm getting about 40g of dietary fiber a dday. Yikes.

  • Asian Gay Vampire sounds hot. The AGV community is alive and well.

  • Your vampire story reminded me of this - http://www.amazon.com/Interview-Vampire-Tom-Cruise/dp/0790729687

You are such a considerate person, holding your gas! LOL

  • 1) While visiting Bangkok before moving here, we attended the birthday party of one of Tawn's friends where she was more than two hours late to the restaurant.  Ugh...
    2) I haven't found a diet rich in oatmeal and veggies to cause much gas.  Perhaps you need to chew it more thoroughly?  =D
    3) The majority of us are average!
    4) I look forward to reading it.

  • 1) argh...at the beginning of this year there was  this birthday boy totally forgot his BD dinner with us and went to the gym,  we kept on calling his mobile and left  voice messages and sms for over 2 hours, eventually he came and had the left-over dishes on the table...
    2) for the veggie diet....so far only beans will cause much gas in me....

  • @christao408 - I do eat very fast.  Chewing just gets in the way.

@agmhkg - lol at your the birthday story!   I told him if he was any later, we would have opened his presents and split it up with everyone.  I guess you don't eat beans before a flight.

  • @apocatim - I had no idea that idea is out there already.

@CurryPuffy - I'm not considerate all the time.  It was just a very "windy" day for me.

  • @ElusiveWords - It would be a fast walk outside lol

  • @yang1815 - I had a good tail wind.  hahaha

  • I couldn't stop laughing while I read #2. It's not because you passed gas... but how interestingly you have written about it!

  • hahaha  that is a lot of fiber you must be eating...  maybe you don't need quite so much in your diet.

sounds like a good novel; you should write it so that i can read it (but don't make it too scary, please)!

  • @ElusiveWords - Your GI tract will get used to the high fiber eventually though.  No worries.  At the mean time, better keep walking!!!  :D

  • @ElusiveWords - So does your Asian gay vampire suck?  :D

  • Ooo, let me know how you like "The Time Traveler's Wife." It's one of my favorites!

  • I guess it was a good idea not to have waited for that person.

  • @yang1815 - ouch.... I have not thought about that "technical" detail!  Interesting....

  • @ElusiveWords - Maybe that's how he lures his food!!!  LOL

Screw the carotid, go for the femoral artery!  HAHA

  • "Thunderous ass"!  Hahaha...made me laugh. :)   My stomach was rumbling a lot today at the office too.  I wonder if we're all eating these hearty carbs because winter is coming...?  And when you finish that book, please send me a complementary copy.  It sounds interesting!

  • no1.  good move.

no2.  i'm a vegan and so now i do my business twice a day, every day.

no3.  a scholarship fund?  that's very generous of you.  be careful.  it may come true.

no4.  i have the same inkling about writing but procrastination has always been my best friend.  by the way, that vampire plot thing sounds like a definite best-seller.  do try.  i'll be the first in line at the bookstore with my credit card in hand :)

  • I think a scholarship for average and below average students will be more competitive than one for above average students! haha.

  • Wow, showing up to an event held in your honor an hour late??  Damn.  Though I know someone who is chronically like that.  Absolutely no regard for other people.  I don't understand why anyone even associates with that person at all.

Pooping a lot is good for you :)   So your diet, imo, is a good one haha.

  • Oh, it's soo good to have you posting again.. I so enjoy it.
I love the scholarship idea... I really do.
    *~matthew~*

  • HAHAHA, your last paragraph was funny You should so do a post on that, it's the 'in' thing right now!

That image of you farting amidst road construction noise is hilarious.

Good to hear you eating healthy! I've just had several chocolates for breakfast, with a bit of coke (the drink) lol

  • glad you have the right sense to walk outside to "air" out.  One time, I was lazy and just "air" in my cubicle.  Within seconds, a lady coworker walked in to ask me a question.  I could see the frown on her face.  oh, my god!  I gave her a quick answer, and she left.  From then on, I noticed she called and email instead of coming to my cubicle unannouced.

  • If a fractured brain can put out snippets like these, I can only imagine what wonderful posts or novels you would be spewing if there were no fractures on the brain. lol.

  • @brooklyn2028 - I think I just eat too fast as well and swallow a lot of air.  When I don't have time for lunch, I literally just inhale my food.  Sure, I'll lend you the book (it'll take sometime before I can finish it).

@rudyhou - send advance payment... maybe it'll spur me to write.  Hee hee...

  • @Rm2046 - you're right!  I never thought about that. lol...

@chow@ireallylikefood - I have to ease back on the coarse veggies and maybe chew slowly.  It's better than sitting on the throne and pushing hard.

@stepaside_loser - hee hee... glad you liked it.  I actually walked around a bit but hung around all that construction.

@stevew918 - hahahaha... oh Steve, that'll teach folks never to drop by your cubicle.

@ZSA_MD - yeah, I gotta get some tape to repair this ol' brain of mine.
