  • A Bit of Pondering

I think I’ve forgotten how to write.  I’ve been blogging sporadically these recent weeks.  Now I know why some how easy it is to let your blog become comatose.   It’s getting close to my bedtime.  It’s my nightly war with sleep.  No matter how tired I am, my brain just comes alive around this time.  It’ll take another hour or two before I can sleep.  My alarm will ring just before 6.  My body has somehow gotten used to this.  I try to sleep in a bit on the weekends.

You know, I was just thinking about your blogs.  How representative is it of you?  We’re all complex creatures.  Does your blog capture who you are?  Or is it a tiny slice of who you really are?   If you met me, what do you think I’m like?

  • I think my blog represents my personal life fairly well.

I can’t quite figure out what you would be like in person.  But then I may never meet you IRL either.  I guess I’ll never find out.

  • from the short time i’ve been subscribed: thoughtful.  i know exactly what you mean.  i can’t turn off my brain when i really should be going to sleep.  that’s interesting.  you can tell a lot about how someone writes, but then again, they are only snippets of what’s on their mind so maybe it doesn’t represent them well?  what i write varies with my mood, and i don’t necessarily write for an audience (hence the friends lock and wanting some privacy)… so i’m forced to be more honest with myself.

  • I’d have to answer tiny slice. I’m sure a lot of others are the same. It takes a lot to describe a few moments sometimes.

  • tiny slice.  but it’s become a larger one, lately.

  • I suppose our blogs are but a slice of us. Each entry in fact is but a slice of life. Taken together, they may not in fact be the sum of a whole. At least it helps others to size us up. Thanks for this slice.

  • I’d like to blog more frequently, but just too occupied by work and other chores lately. I guess my blogs just reflect a tiny part of the real me.  I think you do have a whole set of funny bones in you, Matt.  Good night and good dreams as well!

  • I’m sure it’s all just a tiny bit of us~

  • Mine’s about 95% me :)

  • I feel my postings are what I am thiking about or working on at the time. So if you put them all together you will learn about me. I usually don’t do a “what I did today post” unless it is something other and work – meditate – sleep. If I met you I am sure I would not recognize you physically but the inner Matt I would recognize – no doubt about it!!

  • I think my blog is probably a pretty good representation of who I am.

  • My blogs represent me a lot I think Matt. NOW, if I met you what would I think of you?? I think you would be the gentle man who would be any mother’s dream, a soft spoken adult with a spirit of steel in his spine, and who would smile with his eyes and love with his words. That’s what I think of you darling Matt.

  • My blog tells a lot of my story, but of course there’s a part that won’t show up.

  • My blog tells some intimate details, but of course, there are some things that are never fully discussed in the open.  That’s always best left for personal interactions.  Just based on your blog and I met you, you would probably end up being Oprah or Barbara Walters

  • I think my blog represents only about 25% of me, to be honest.

I’ve wondered what you are like IRL.  I can’t put my finger on anything descriptive, but I’m fairly certain that you and I would get along well.

  • Of course a blog is a selective representation but I get the impression that what you write – your thoughts and feelings – are sincere and you make little attempt to pose them in order to maintain face.  So to that extent, I think your blog is probably a fair representation of you.  I feel the same about my own blog – while I do make conscious choices about what to write, I am pretty candid when I write an entry.

Tawn and I have been talking about our summer trip to the US and are seriously considering a side trip to Montreal and Toronto.  We have many friends whom we have not seen in a long while.  If Tawn and I make it up there, I hope we’ll have the opportunity to meet.

  • @yang1815 - @ZSA_MD - I’ll attest that both your blogs are fair representations of who you are, your interests and life.

@arenadi - You and Matt would definitely get along: MMA warrior meets ninja!  LOL

  • @christao408 - Thanks Chris!  Yours too!  Tawn’s too hehe…

  • @yang1815 - you seem to have a mischievous streak in you… I have a funny feeling that there’s always laughter around you.  I’ll probably sneak into your house when the snow melts.

@caki730 - thank you.  It’s interesting, this entry started out about me blogging anonymously (in my old blog).  It was fun because I could write about anything I wanted.  But this blog, there’s a few people that know who I am so I have to be a bit more restrained in what I write.  Sometimes I’ll address my readers (such as this entry).  But most of the time, I just write for myself although I’m aware there are others that will read it.

@dikdoktor - I think your love of beer and your sense of humor is something that I like.

@TheBigShowAtUD - I have a feeling that people eventually start to write more and more about their lives once they become more comfortable with blogging or have gotten use to it.  Thanks for your comment.

@Norcani - you’re very welcome and thank you too for all your slices.

@CurryPuffy - I hope you find more time to write Gary (not just food blogs).  Maybe we’ll see other (tiny) parts of your life.

@tomatoboi - for some, I think their blogs is very representative of them – it just seems that their personalities come through pretty strong.

@CareyGLY - hahaha… was there any doubt about you?

@Fatcat723 - I think we would have many fascinating conversations together.

@TheCheshireGrins - interesting … you are quite open about what you write.

@ZSA_MD - aww… thanks Zakiah.  I was pretty sure your blog captured you very well.   I have my fair share of uhm… bad traits.   (I know, it’s tough to imagine that).

@Roadlesstaken - you’re very open and honest in your writing which is great for someone who doesn’t blog anonymously.  I think you put a lot of thought and care in your writing too.

    @alchemystfury - Oprah and Barbara Walters?  hahaha… that’s interesting.

@arenadi - I think I would get along with you too.  I don’t leave a lot of memorable clues in my writing on who I am.  Just enough to give readers a glimpse.  But there’s a lot more now than ever before.

    @christao408 - hmmm…. a potential Toronto visit?   I’ll have to put on a disguise.  hee hee…

  • i’d say my blogs represent about 80% of who i am.  no matter how much you’d want to share to the world, there’s always a part of you that you’d like to keep to yourself.  maybe this is why i don’t write as much unless something happened that was profound or memorable enough for me to want to share to the whole world.  what would i think of you? mmm… you’re quite mellow and think too much.  AND have a great taste in food.  how close am i?  ;)

  • @rudyhou - I’ve always enjoyed your blog especially your recent writings about your adventure in the temple.  I wonder if anyone you know also read your blog.   Yeah – I’m pretty mellow sometimes.  But I can be a pain in the ass too.  I think too much (same as you?).  I just eat a lot… so maybe a broad taste in food?  hahaha

  • @ElusiveWords - You’re probably right.  Laughters and food pr0ns!  :D

    I don’t know about you coming over now…  :P

  • My blog is a smorgasbord of random thoughts, epiphanies, and observations about life.
These things are my most personal yet open ideas.  Rarely do I post things that are actually about my life ex. “I hate this that and the other” blah blah blah.
So, 100% me, 2% of me.  Not enough to be definitive.

And you? Well, I’ve only read two of your blogs, but judging by the bit that I have seen you seem intelligent and real. ^.^

  • hey brother :) your blog is certainly much better than mine =p i am just sharing my adventures but i can know what roughly kind of person you are… wonder if when could we catch up face to face huuh? till then take care ok?

  • i think my blog represents how i think, but i don’t know if it would show if you first met me; i’m usually very shy and quiet around people i don’t know well.  but, i think if i met you i would enjoy your company very much.  we seem to have quite a bit in common.

  • I think peoples blogs are pretty representative of people.  For example, right now both you and I seem extremely busy and are writing is more sporadic.  I think I pretty much wear my heart on my sleeve when I blog so I think you probably know me pretty well.

  • yeah, a few of my friends have read the blogs.  they laughed in wonder and was eager to know how i dealt with the whole situation.  i brushed it off clamming that it wasn’t a big deal.  and it wasn’t.  sure it freaked me out at first but after a while it just became one of those unexpected things that happen when you travel.  one can only take it, learn from it and move on.  no use to dwell on it.  things happened for a reason, whatever the reason may be.

  • @LeaveThisMind - I like that – “100% me, 2% of me”!

@lcfu - I’m sure one of these days, I’ll bump into you in some remote corner of this planet.

@kunhuo42 - hey Aaron, I think we have a few things in common (except for running, academics…) hahaha.  But yeah, I’m sure we’ll enjoy each other’s company if we were to meet.

@brooklyn2028 - sigh… it is getting busy at work trying to meet our numbers.  I don’t know how you balance school and work.

  • My image of you is something between Totoro and iron chef.

  • Wait, was this what you are looking for?

  • @Wangium - *googles Totoro*    omg… HAHAHAHA.   Oh Jason!

  • if i met you in real life, i’d think you’d be approachable… asian….in your early 30s? you’ll probably give me some small talk and then i wouldn’t know what to say because a lot of your entries are very personal and it’ll sound weird talking about it aloud. haha

  • @stepaside_loser - I’m sure you’ll be chatty and very approachable.  No it won’t sound weird, I think that’s one of the wonderful things about sites like Xanga.  We can share a lot of personal things… but you don’t know some of the basic things about a person’s life. (e.g. name, address…).
