More pics of my ‘hood
It was a nice day after work last week and I wandered around my neighborhood enjoying the late afternoon sun. It was a bit tricky taking pictures with sun and shade.
A lot of folks don’t notice this “Heartbreak Hotel” sign. It’s faded and blends right into the background. I like these old signs. I’m not sure what that building is (likely apartments). There’s a hamburger place at the ground level.
I guess this is better than siding.
I had to touch this photo up a bit because of the sun and shadow. This is a very handsome building and I wondered what it was like in the old days. Here’s a real estate video ad when it was up for sale last year (click here).

Looks like a nice spring day? The rusty sign together with the brick building are somewhat nostalgic.
nice weather! it’s still cool and overcast here in Vancouver……
I wonder what the neighborhood looked when all those buildings were new.
Looks like a set of a gangsta movie. hehe JK. I like the wall painting! And I agree with everyone else…beautiful day!
that last property is amazing. although i’ll admit, i was looking more at the beautiful lady giving the tour. haha =)
great pics! thanks for sharing!
Ah ha! We shall stalk you now in your hood.
Now that graffiti is definitely art! It’s pretty cool And good catch on the heartbreak sign. I didn’t catch that at all
I keep thinking Matt, that I will wander the small little
city i live in with my camera, and jsut show what I see
everyday,, perhaps soon.
Love these posts of yours.

These pictures tell a lot of stories Matt. I could sit down and write about each building and you would be surprised at what comes out. Old buildings speak to me.
@CurryPuffy - I seen a few references to it in the local blogs but don’t have a lot of information about that former hotel. A lot of folks (including myself) don’t even notice it.
@agmhkg - there’s a thunderstorm raging outside downtown TO right now. Grr….
@Fatcat723 - there’s some old photos of the ‘hood that I’ve seen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Street_West & http://chuckmantorontonostalgia.wordpress.com/?s=queen+st (it’s not all of my ‘hood but some pictures are close to it).
@oxyGENE_08 - I love those nice spring days. We could use a lot more of these.
@ThePrince - hahaha…. I didn’t really notice her.
@yang1815 - I don’t think I’m interesting enough to attract stalkers. They would be bored to tears. hee hee…
@AzureRecollections - I Googled it and most people never notice it. It’s very easy to miss.
@bleuzeus - that would be interesting. I think we should all do this.
@ZSA_MD - Thank you, I never thought about it that way. I’m sure each of these buildings have their own stories that are dying to be told.
Thanks for the reference – I enjoyed reading and seeing the photos.
@ElusiveWords - u’d be surprised.
Nice photos. I get so annoyed when power lines ruin my pictures
