Snippets:  (noun)  1. my version of micro blogging  2.  When there isn't enough material for a full blog

    1.  I remind myself that when life gets tough and depressing, there are others who would love to trade places with me.  But right now, there aren't a lot of things in life that I'm happy with.  Maybe it's just the lack of sleep, the stress or a combination of a lot of things.  While I normally don't get in touch with my spiritual inner self, it's not quite where it should be either.   You can't run away from problems.  I don't drink when I'm sad despite having a fair bit of liquor in my place.  I don't do drugs either. These moods usually fade away after I grind through it.  But this time, it's a bit tougher.  I'll need some mega doses of affirmation.

    2.  After work the other day, I took a walk and settled down on a park bench. It was still sunny and I did a bit of reading and people watching.  It was good to just get some air and to unwind.  After awhile though, I notice tiny insects on my paperback and on me. I'm sure they weren't poisonous. But I got incredibly itchy afterwards.  I scratch discreetly here and there.  As soon as I got back to my condo, I showered immediately just to get rid of any insects that were still on me.

    3.  Writing and exercise - I just need to do more of these.  And maybe a bit more photography.  When I don't use my camera a lot, I can't remember basics like changing settings. Sad...

    4.  I have close to 300 subscribers now.  Thank you to those of you who still read my blog & to those of you who recently subscribed.  The 300 figure is a bit misleading though.  At least half of these Xangans are no longer active. But it's nice to know people read this.

    5.  It was already dusk when I took this photo.  The skies had cleared after a late afternoon shower but the sun was sinking fast.  Which one of these do you like better?

    a)

    or b)

  • I like the first photo better.

And yes...I do know this feeling...having a decent amount of subscribers (perhaps not 300!) and a very small amount of them who actually read my posts. x]I think I'm actually one of those subscribers. :p
I wish you luck in sorting out these issues!  I find that sometimes the best creative work is produced in times of stress and sleep deprivation...So perhaps there is a plus side to going through one of life's many rough patches. ^^

  • You are right about running away from problems.  Good to know a way to relieve stress - taking photos.  That's what I do to get away from troubles....just be a shutter bug!

  • First, I like the first shot better -- I might even lighten it a bit more in edit (change contrast, add fill light) to bring out its beauty.  Then, when I was dealing with my mother's illness and death, I found it immensely helpful to get outside on a daily basis, just to do something I enjoy doing -- it was relaxing, and it took my mind away from the difficulties I was experiencing.  For me that involves the camera, too -- it doesn't have to, though -- it can be whatever you truly enjoy (a walk, sitting and reading, but without bugs, a nap on the lawn, etc.)  Exercise helps, too -- again it doesn't have to be much, but a few minutes each day helps.  And it always helps to share your thoughts with a trusted friend.  It's good that you don't drink or do drugs -- and that will help you get through this difficult time.

  • on my screen, the first looks better. i might even play with it a bit like with the contrast and brightness to see what happens

  • Sounds like you were invaded by fleas there. I once went fishing as a kid. Went under this bridge, sat and waited. All I was able to catch was a bad case of sand fleas.

  • Definitely A.

You know my position on insomnia. As someone who suffered from it for all of his adult life, drugs were the answer for me. Exercise helps massively though. I've been working out like crazy and the amount of energy I have has gone up while the amount of sleep has actually gone down but I still feel great. The morning workout does wonders.

  • First photo.

  • Just 300?  NOT ENOUGH!  We need to get you more!

  • MMM - the photos each speak differently. I would keep them both and hang them either one over the other on a small wall or side by wide is there was room.

  • Number 3!!! I'm with you right there bud! And... A.

  • A.

i like your little snippets; at least you are posting something!  as for affirmation...  how about a little validation?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cbk980jV7Ao

  • first one! :)

hope you feel better soon tho mate

  • no doubt, choice a.  choice b seems rather gloomy, but still a clear pic.  i haven't played with my Nikon in quite a while now.  it saddens me that i have neglected the one friend that i used to get attached to just few years back.  i took a pic similar to the one you posted here.  that's why it triggered a memory of my active days with my Nikon.  i'll be traveling to taiwan this july.  i have to remember to tag along my Nikon and give him another chance to impress me and to remind me why i loved him in the first place.

  • just like the other comments, A.......Enjoy the Sun at, cos we are having cloudy weather throughout Jun.....

  • @LeaveThisMind -  I agree with you about the plus side of going through life's tough patches.  Thanks for the comment.

@CurryPuffy - yeah, it's good to get away even for a brief moment.  I did manage to take some photos this weekend.

@slmret - thanks for sharing your experiences and wisdom.    I had originally chosen B because it was dark and moody.  Maybe that was just the mood I was in.

@buddy71 - thanks for the tips.

@The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter - yikes... I'm getting itchy just thinking about sand fleas.

@supanamja - I'm gonna make the effort to get more workouts into my life.  A does have a lot more detail.  I thought B might be a bit more mysterious.

@secade - looks like everyone is going with A!

@kunhuo42 - hahaha.. thanks Aaron.  I remember watching this at some mgm't session once.  I may have to watch this over and over again.

@Roadlesstaken - well, that means I need to write regularly - almost daily!

@oxyGENE_08 - lol... I feel like a newbie every time I take my camera out.

    @InStealthMode - thanks!

@pika_whoosh - thank you, I'm feeling a bit better now.

@rudyhou - awww.... you need to take it out soon and get reacquainted with it before you go on your trip.  I had chosen B because I was in a gloomy mood.

@yang1815 - aw gee Andy.  *hugs*

@agmhkg - the sun has been pretty good this summer except for the usual summer storms.

  • @ElusiveWords - C'est la vie I suppose.

  • I'd go with photo exhibit a)
