  • Looking for Travel Tips for Taiwan

If things work out, I might be making a trip to Taiwan this year.  I hope to be there for at least 2 weeks.  I’m looking for travel tips for Taiwan – interesting places to see, hidden gems, places to avoid, tips to get around, where to stay and of course where to eat.  Right now, I’m starting to checkout some travel sites.  EVA air now flies from Toronto to Taipei.  It’ll be good to fly direct.  I hope they will have some seats on sale.

It’s been awhile since I’ve actually traveled on vacation.  My old backpack sits in the corner of my bedroom looking rather sad.  It’s just waiting there patiently for me.  I don’t think this trip will be a backpacking type of trip though.  It’s just to get away for awhile.

  • You deserve a break. I enjoy dumpling at Din Tai Fung in Taipei. There are several locations, including one at 101. It is much much better than the one in Toronto. There is a special low cost ($300) 8 day tour package to Taiwan. You may want to check with your travel agents in the Chinese shopping malls. Is M available to accompany you?

    • I’m going to eat xiao long bao for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I should check out out these packages. I just need a decent flight and hotel package. J (not M) will be coming with me.

  • Yay! I hope it all works out and you do get to travel! I think a vacation would be so good for you! :-)
    HUGS!!! :-)

  • Never been to Taiwan but I hope you have a Great Time! take lots of photos!

  • That sounds like a wonderful idea — there’s nothing like a chenge of scenery to be refreshing and rejuvenating! Enjoy the planning and the trip itself!

  • You should check with Gary. I think he was in Taipei not too long ago. Or was it chris? Anyway, have fun, you deserve it and just forget Toronto for those two weeks.

  • YAY. i been to taiwan. twice. both times visited different parts of the country. i was taken care of by an uncle who lives there. he drove me around and i had great fun. friendly people, clean and safe cities, yummy food, very good tea, and it has speed train that goes from north to south of taiwan. the main cities of taipei, taichung, and kaoshiung also have subways. taxis also not expensive.

    • That’s good to hear. We want to visit Kaoshiung too. But hope to get some other parts of Taiwan in too. Thanks for the input Rudy. :-)

  • Wonderful as usual. I hope you and your family are well. Having fun.

  • Never been to Taiwan, can’t help you out. 2 weeks should be more than enough to tour the whole island~ I’m sure one day I will get to do the same.
